Yeah, ILM did a great job updating Slimer via CG, I wll not fault them that. Basically took the original puppet and added details.

I know we're told never to judge the CGI until the final release, but a lot of the CGI looks a bit iffy.

Parade balloon floats from the 30's and 40's looked stupid.

The point is that it's an aesthetic choice and not badly rendered CGI. For better or worse, that's the aesthetic they wanted. The style reminds me not only of The Real Ghostbusters, but of Extreme Ghostbusters as well. It is quite cartoony.

Female slimer? God, I feel sick. What the hell?

It's like they're purposefully trying to make a statement with this film rather than having it be it's own thing.

Why not an original ghost?

Of course a feminist is now going to rail against me proclaiming how a female slimer is so revolutionary.

What would BE revolutionary is having it be completely it's own thing without needing an older property to prop itself up.

What they're basically admitting is they view an original ghost hunting team comprised of women with a similar tone and an original world as something that won't be successful, so they're throwing this out there instead of doing what the true revolutionary thing is. That's what rubs me the wrong way with this whole approach - a complete and utter show of lack of confidence. Hell, they weren't even confident enough to create an original ghost design that could stand up to slimer - so they took the very easy road out and put in a female slimer. All the while going "look at us!" It just represents everything wrong with this. It doesn't come off as revolutionary, it feels like a damaging step backward.

yes, that's in the actual film. Slimer steals the Ecto 1 and takes his girlfriend and some ghost buddies for a joy ride. It was ridiculous, and even more so without the CGI. Slimer and girl Slimer were played by people in black zentai suits and rubber puppet heads.

Now that I'd love to see - people in black zentai suits and rubber puppet heads. Sounds a billion times better that way somehow and funnier than anything I'm sure we'll see in this rubbish.

I get to see it for free and even I'm wondering if I should bail since the closer it gets, the more it feels like it will be a kick in the balls. I'm just getting serious F4 and Genisys psychological torturous vibes from this.

I get to see it for free and even I'm wondering if I should bail since the closer it gets, the more it feels like it will be a kick in the balls. I'm just getting serious F4 and Genisys psychological torturous vibes from this.

I'm starting to feel Genisys vibes also. We had the early Genisys defenders proclaiming it to be the true sequel to T2 and that it was tonally in line with that film when it turned out neither assessment was true.

Now we have people who have seen Ghostbusters screenings proclaiming the marketing to only show footage that isn't indicative of its quality and that the rest of the film is true Ghostbusters in tone, but with each spot and trailer releasing new footage after these remarks, it looks more like a parody.

I NEVER claimed that. I said the marketing is terrible. I said it's not like the Original, I said it is its own thing. I said I enjoyed it, but that it would never be as good as the original. I personally liked it better than Ghostbusters 2, but it is still a movie with flaws. Don't put words in my mouth please?

There isn't a Library or a library ghost. There is an old mansion and the vengeful spirit that haunts it. That spook takes the Librarian's place in the story.

I'm starting to think they did some closet reshoots, which included the firing of whoever designed Mayhem. Cause I love the design for Mayhem in case ya'll didn't know.
