To be honest though, you have to think about the non-fan or the causal fan; they won't care. They'll be like "Where's Bats and Supes?"

To be fair, the General Audience just doesn't care that much. As long as the movie is entertaining, they won't even remember Superman and Batman are not in.

Perfect Black Canary, Flash(Jay) and Green Lantern(Alan). No to all of the others. Cooper is Guy Gardner. Fassbender should be Green Arrow instead. Deschanel is Lois Lane. Black Canary is a founding member, not Wonder Woman and Porter is perfect for Wally. My cast for the same script:

You're giving the GA too much credit. They won't even know that Superman and Batman are SUPPOSED to be in it.

Black Canary wasn't a member in the first JLA team. She was retconed in during the 90's but then she was removed during the OYL days. Plus the rumor says WW in is the line up for the movie,not BC.

Anyway, I'm more concerned about the solo movies and how the tie into Justice League.

Also, I'm wondering if Geoff Johns is involved. So far, he's been a big player for the Green Lantern movie.

If all this is happening, then I am curious as well about how they will all be connected in the shared universe.

Yeah, Johns is a big GL fan, and all this news sounds like they are all very happy with GL. Maybe Johns likes the idea of GL leading a JL movie, and doesn't see the lack of Superman and Batman as a detriment.

Ultimately, I am happy that it sounds like there are a lot of plans for the DC universe. I hope it works.

What I have heard about the JL film meshes what you have heard. It's slowly being developed. However from what I have heard, instead of having a sequel to Nolans' Superman Reboot due to be released during December 2012, the JL film will be kind of considered the sequel to the Nolan Superman film.

Therefore if that does wind up being the case.....Superman will definitely be in the JL film.

If that's the case, I wonder, if Superman is in it, would they still exclude Batman.

I find that older people usually remember "Superfriends." They remember Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman as the main trio. They remember Aquaman, Flash, Gleek, Apache Chief etc. And they don't really know who Martian Manhunter is.

Younger audiences will probably remember the Justice League cartoon.

I'm not talikng about the 60s line-up. I'm talking about the new Earth one. The founding members were Green Lantern, Aquaman, Black Canary, Martian Manhunter and Flash. Superman became the team's first new member when Triumph brought him and the League together to protect the Earth.

I ****ing LOVE that book. I mentioned earlier in this thread that adapting this storyline would be a pretty cool idea. It'd be a great showcase for lesser known characters that have no shot in hell of ever getting a solo film, plus you could include minor roles from Batman, Superman, Green Arrow and the Atom. Or, even, adapt the material further and change out the Atom and Green Arrow for other characters.

Anyway..

Maybe that ************** news is about the word going out about the beginning of casting for the JL roles. Maybe at this stage all they're doing is looking for actors. And word has gone out to agents, managers etc. Nothing else is really solid about JL, and the casting for 'Mortal' was a point of contention within the fanboy community, so maybe a more extensive search has started.

So all other JL news is vague eg. Superman and Batman being included, because it is at such an early stage.

Another interesting aspect of those rumours is that they might be willing to make a JLA movie before a Wonder Woman and Aquaman movie. (Which I personally don't mind.)

And the "basic outline" could be the Mulroney's Mortal script, or at least knowing which superheroes besides Batman and Superman should be involved (ie. Wonder Woman, Flash, GL, Aquaman and Martian Manhunter.) Also, looking for these actors, they would want to sign them for their solo movies as well as a JL movie eg. the Flash actor.

1) Why would they? They're not in the Avengers
2) General audience doesn't even know who the Avengers are. Everyone's at the very least familiar with the core members of the League

saw the rumor the other week of a jl film with ww/aquaman/martian manhunter/flash/gl without batman or supes. Now it would be an interesting way to go. But i doubt they would skip bats and supes totally. Plus even if we didnt have supes or bats for a jl film at first. it would still probably be a good few yrs away from even happening. Since i am sure they would want a solid gl series going, and at least flash and/or ww film out first so they have a few characters covered and then aquaman/martian manhunter could be introduced in jl film. But i am not holding my breath for a jl film any time soon.
