The New Nova

And punisher was a Vietnam vet..etc..The answer is it clearly doesnt make sense...but it is marvel's official site.

The answer is easy. Franklin was born in 1969 and has been warping space/time ever since.

This is why it's nice to have Thor as a favorite character. Sliding timescales are unnecessary for immortals. :)

Just read Nova #4..once again "OK" ....very juvenile and cartoonish...this is a kids book folks, and really even the target audience of 15 year olds may be a bit highbrow for some of the banter in this issue. I don't know how long I can hold on. I wanted to give this a shot but it's clearly a reboot in every possible way. It's back to square 1 for Nova. Juvenile dialogue , crossovers with Spidey, and weak sauce been there done that vibe.

It really is pretty shallow. I don't know if I'd call it a kids' book given the tiger dude's very graphic, bloody maiming in the middle of #4, but it's certainly not reinventing the wheel of superhero comics or anything. It's not bad for what it is, though. Reminds me of DC's pre-New 52 Blue Beetle series a bit, only not as good.

yeah agreed, although Ted Kord was nowhere near as high as Rider's stock was in terms of the few years before the got legacy'd.

I completely disagree. Jamie Reyes had a ton more personality and a much better back story than white boy with daddy issues (apologies to all white boys out there. but you have to admit, the trope gets old).

Issue #4 put me squarely in the corner of **** this noise. Unfortunately, I will stick around long enough to see how Zeb Wells introduces the New Warriors into the NOW continuity in #7.

Are the New Warriors appearing in Nova 7? I've not heard about that. What members?

According to the dudes on Cosmicbooknews, Zeb Wells had plans for the New Warriors. If you can get past all the outright hatred they have for the new Marvel Cosmic, you can pick up some info.

Ah, I just saw in the Marvel August solicitations. They hinted at it vaguely. The first letter of each word in the solicits, when put together, spell New Warriors.

He's a Hispanic boy with daddy issues, as far as I'm aware. But I agree, to some extent. I did say it reminded me of Blue Beetle, only not as good.

NOVA #7
ZEB WELLS (W) • PACO MEDINA (A)
Cover by ED MCGUINNESS
• Nova’s Eventful World-Wide Adventure Rockets Roaringly Into Our Renegade Spider!
• Zeb Wells (“Robot Chicken”, dressing as Thor on the internet) and Paco Medina (Ultimate X-Men) continue the story of Marvel’s newest, least experienced hero: Sam Alexander.
• We’ll get to tying into Infinity next month, but you should probably pick this one up first.
32 PGS./Rated T+ …$3.99

Hmmm. Both Medina and Wells have NW history, Medina did a great job on the last series, Wells not so much with his stint.

Well, true, Zeb Wells doesn't have the best track record with the Warriors....but at least he didn't Millar them.

My guess for the line-up will probably be new iterations of Night Thrasher, a cancer-free doe-eyed Firestar, maybe a more traditional Speedball and a Captain America-esque Justice. Or Wells might surprise us and make an all new line-up.

I might pick that one up depending on the roster. And while Zeb Wells' New Warriors mini wasn't ideal to the team's history, it wasn't that bad of a read. I sorta enjoyed it. He's a good writer. I'm willing to give him another chance with the team.

A little OT but aside from Night Thrasher II, was there anyone from the most recent iteration of the New Warriors that could make the cut for a new team which includes Warriors from the team's numerous rosters?

I think Sophia Mantega (Wind Dancer) would be a good addition assuming they find a way to get her wind powers back. Also to fill in the void left by Chord, I really want a writer to pull Maverick from limbo. The character does has nominal ties to the Warriors through Chris Bradley. It would be good to see them use him in a more stable capacity. The character has been tossed up here and there like no one's business.

Hmm... of that team I think Jubilee/Wondra was the best option, but there's no way the X-people will let her go. Of those left who survived:

Chamber
Wind Dancer
Radian
Beak
Angel Salvadora (or whatever her last name was)

I think Wind Dancer or Beak would be the best options. Both would fit the bold, and Beak wouldn't need any additional work. He was pretty cool with the flying suit, like Falcoln or Vulture. I'd love to see Chamber join but I don't think he'd fit as well as Wind Dancer or Beak.

Yeah, and to be quite frank we need more females on the Warriors roster. Top of my head the immediate ones that come to mind are just Firestar, Namorita and Silhoutte.

You also have Turbo (not a fan), Ultra Girl and Tarene (who I am both huge fans of)..I'm forgetting one or two as well.

I'd rather the team pull from A:TI 's (than the last volume of NW, many of which the members have been repowered) gang of unused character, especially Cloud 9..I'd be cool with literally any of them on the team.

Bengal is another character I like, and fits into some good story potential with Night Thrasher.

Although I am a fan of Justice, an interesting wrinkle could be to put the Original Vance Astovik on the roster...who was last with Namorita post Thanos Imperative in space.

As for Wells, I may re-read his Mini. It was extremely difficult for me to accept the book with the reality show theme and with Skottie Young's very taste-specific pencils. The art really killed it for me.

I have enjoyed some other stuff Wells has done, so maybe it could work.

I wonder if the Renegade Spider reference is about Kaine...Ben Reilly as Scarlet Spider was once on the NW roster, so why not have the New Scarlet Spider run into the new Nova? Kaine should be done with his run in with SpOck at that point and on his way back to Texas, and Arizona is only a few states over...

I think its most likely a reference to SpOck. Though seeing Kaine used outside of Spider-clone stories would be good too.

Personally I'd rather see Kaine deal with a bunch of annoying kids then SpOck. SpOck's reaction would be predictable, Kaine's, not so much.
