With 9 IC posts left in this cycle, I'm going to jump the gun and put up my noms for awards. I have no doubt the remaining posts will be continuing already established stories, so there most likely will be no change in my decisions.
Best Hero: Dick Grayson, Green Lantern
I love how GL’s developing Dick right now – the whole idea behind his motive and what drives him. The idea that the most well known sidekick in the business actually hates his superhero counterpart (to be?) is so interesting. Dick Grayson is definently ultimate in this rpg, and when he and Batman finally meet, watch out.
Honorable Mentions: Flash – Byrd Man, Atom - MST3K
Best Villain: Bane, Spike_x1
The slow progression of this dangerous rogue is so interesting to read. Each time I finish a post I can’t help but think, “Man – when he lets lose, Gotham’s screwed.” Eagerly anticipating the future Spike has planned for this epic villain.
Best 'Walking The Line': J’onn J’onnz, Catman_prb
When Catman picked up J’onn, I had no clue what he had planned. Little did I know he was orchestrating the first major threat the denizens of this Earth’s universe would face.
Honorable Mention: Lor- Zod, Bounce. The son of Zod has never been better. Instead of being polite, kind and caring, Ult. Superboy struggles to find a reason to be anything of those things for a race of beings known for their selfish stupidity. Lor is at a crossroads where he could just as easily choose the heroic path or the road to villainy. Intriguing stuff.
Best Story Arc: Holiday, Byrd Man, et. al.
Come on, Byrd’s been plotting this for a year – possibly since the RPG’s inception. Little by little he laid the clues and progressed the plot, tying it into every facet of Ultimate Gotham without making it a major arc that all Gotham based characters had to participate in. In my opinion, these are the arcs I find most impressive and the most rewarding. He kept me guessing the whole time, and the dramatic climax was well worth the wait. Many officers fell during the course of this arc, and without a doubt, it will leave a lasting impact on the GCPD for seasons to come.
Honorable Mention: Sta’rro, et. al – with the various ties ins and character interaction between the Earth’s greatest heroes, this arc has been truly epic.
War of Light, Sensei of Cheese, Byrd Man, Master Bruce, Catman_prb – Hopefully this arc has not been forgotten. The Lantern Corp faced their most dire threat, nearly being destroyed in the conflict, yet persevering and vanquishing the evil might of the Black Lanterns. Great action, awesome nods, and new precedents set for the Lanterns’ future.
Best Developed Character: Supergirl, Eddie Brock.
I’ve got to give this one to Eddie. He took what J’dore did with her and created his own interpretation within the mythos, and continued the story. I’ve enjoyed the exploits he’s had her through so far, and when Sta’rro is beaten, I look forward to seeing Supergirl’s story continue.
Best Post: Undecided. If I were to pick one, it’d be from the arcs or characters I’ve already mentioned. Instead, I’m just going to nominate everyone who’s posted in these past 500 posts. Awesome stuff, guys – keep it coming.
MVP (Most Valuable Player): Master Bruce.
MB does such a great job in this RPG – he may only play 1 character right now, but being Batman is a fulltime job. In addition to that, MB does so much for this RPG it astonishes me. He makes up lists, updates information, and keeps track of PCs, NPCs, places and even things. On top of all that, he works to maintain continuity and order in the storylines of the rpg – taking every decision and application seriously. Nice job, man – you’ve earned it.
