I love Blade and would not mind either way if Blade 4 or reboot.
In case anyone's wondering, I posted a fancast for a Blade reboot @ **************. Click here to check it out.
And here's my cast:
Michael Jai White as Blade (Eric Brooks)
Well, what can I tell you? He's the fan favorite. I once had him as Luke Cage in my New Avengers and Marvel Knights fancasts, but in the latter, DDD hammered me that Mikey wasn't tall enough and suggested I go with Henry Simmons. Then there's the fact that Idris Elba is campaigning for the role. So, to honor everyone's best intent, I decided to go along with the group and cast him as Blade. But it is for the best, because he has the voice, height, and black belts in 7 styles of martial arts.

Morgan Freeman as Jamal Afari
With Christopher Nolan's Batman film franchise coming to an end, I guess it's time for their principle cast members to find new work. In terms of Morgan Freeman, he'd be perfect as the man who Blade rescues and, in return, offers to help him.

Malcolm McDowell as Quincy Harker
If you disagree with this, you have no taste in movies. Malcolm's career goes back to the days of A Clockwork Orange, and since then, he has played various characters like the eerie, yet sympathetic Sam Loomis in the 'Halloween' remakes, Principal Gibbons in the Emma Stone smash 'Easy A', and many more. His wisdom and sympathetic approach to characters would be perfect for the leader of a squad of vampire hunters.

Ethan Hawke as Frank Drake
I hear Ryan Phillipe is popular for this role, but I have him for Angel in my upcoming 'X-Men 2' fancast (see 'The Lincoln Lawyer'). Meanwhile, the best choice to play someone on the road to redemption is an actor who's practically played characters like this his whole career, Ethan Hawke. Proof: 'Assault on Precinct 13', 'Brooklyn's Finest', and 'Daybreakers' (this united him with the Spierig brothers; joy!)

Maggie Grace as Rachel Van Helsing
Some of you may recognize her as my choice for Sharon Carter back when I did my 'Secret Avengers' cast early this year. However, since Amanda Righetti is now playing the Ultimate version (the one with red hair), now I need to give her a new role. This one, little did I know that MrMurdockk used her already. But Maggie not only looks like the spitting image of Abraham Van Helsing's granddaughter, but I think she'd be capable of playing an intelligent role for the first time.

Damian Lewis as Hannibal King
I know people want him as Banshee, i.e. DDD himself, but I've got someone else in mind. Damian Lewis, to me, looks like the spitting image of Hannibal King. And unlike Ryan Reynolds, he'll be capable of playing it straight rather than a goofball in 'Blade: Trinity'. It doesn't hurt also that Lewis looks like a vampire.

Abhishek Bachchan as Taj Nital
I lack knowledge of the character. Therefore, I relied on teabag's 'Tomb of Dracula' fancast to find this actor. He's got an excellent build, and has a great resume in Bollywood movies.

Eva Green as Lilith
I think Eva Green deserves a better role than Scarlet Witch, and I've got a pick for the character that'll cause you to stain your pants at level red. I've seen that steamy sex scene from 'Camelot' that she was in, and she was pretty damn intense during that. And with that presence, she'd be excellent as the vengeful daughter of Dracula.

Ian McShane as Dracula
Dominic Purcell's portrayal of Dracula in 'Blade: Trinity' was a wet blanket. And it's sad, since his work in 'Prison Break' was surprisingly good. I can see why people want him to play roles like Scorpion for a new 'Spider-Man' movie. Well, for the new 'Blade' movie universe, I chose someone who can bring menace and charisma to the character of the mythical legend. Watch Ian's movies that he's been in: 'Kung-Fu Panda' as Tai Lung, 'Pirates of the Carribean: On Strange Tides' as Blackbeard, 'Shrek the Third' as Captain Hook... I could go on.

Tobin Bell as Deacon Frost
Now, I'll be upfront and say that Stephen Dorff's portrayal of Deacon in the first 'Blade' movie was really good. And he made an excellent foil that the character has been the whole time. However, for the reboot, I'd like to see someone who looks aged like the character, and who better than the guy who brought Jigsaw to life in the 'Saw' movies. Tobin has that very creepy voice, but on the whole, he can play intense and intelligent villains. For the film, I see Deacon Frost as someone who aligns with Dracula to even the playing field between him and Blade.

Nah Michael Jai White![]()
AFAIK, Wesley Snipes is somewhat toxic, between his prima donna attitude and his time in prison. If they do anything with Blade, it will definitely be recast.
snipes is 50 and in prison idris elba is 39 and much better actor than snipes.so what about heimdall thats a bit part chris evans was jonhny storm didnt bother him being captain america too.ryan rynolds was dedpool and green lantern.the studio is not gonna waste millions on a blade 4 with wesley snipes he could get work before prison he was doing direct to video with steven seagul and van dam.the best option is a reboot start a new fresh trilogyHe is almost same age with Robert Downey Jr. and probably still better at action scenes than entire Avengers cast. Idris Elba is old as well, probably not as fit as Snipes and doesn't have fighting training. Also he is Heimdall in MCU.
Michael Jai White is my choice too. It's time to move on without Wesley.

Its kind of messed up that Goyer gets all the praise when it comes to Blade, when it was Snipes who gave him his Bladeness, as well as his fight team, the weaponry etc. Now Goyer is on a high pedestal even though he screwed up with Blade Tragedy I mean Trinity. They are trying to blame Snipes being difficult behind on the scenes why the film isnt as good as the other 2 movies. Wesley Snipes was acting similar during the production of first 2 films but the studio/directors didn't have a problem with him then. Now since Snipes went against the Hollywood machine and tried to sue, pull their cards over the movie they blackballed him in its a problem.
I just bought the Blu Ray version of Blade 2 and it was distasteful how on the BR that Goyer would try not mention Snipes at all like he wasn't part of creation process for the movies. The previous 2002 DVD set they was praising Snipes most of the time. In this version new BR version a lot of that stuff is now edited out. Now it's 2012 since Snipes went against the machine and sued them trying to shut him out like he didnt contribute anything to the character.
David Goyer still doing big things with writing big movies and still getting chances to direct bad movie after movie but he knows the right people to keep him where he's at. Wes on the other hand is blackballed and is pretty much stuck only doing Direct DVD flicks and is locked down.
MJW auditioned for the Blade TV show a few years back. Goyer and the Producers said he was trying to be too much like Snipes' Blade (Whatever that means). So they chose so they chose to give Kirk Jones aka Sticky Fingazz the roll instead.
I wouldn't mind seeing MJW get the role, hopefully they keep Goyer away from the project and get a new breed of writers/producers for the project.
I didn't get where Goyer was coming from either when I heard this reasoning for why MJW was not chosen. It would seem that they would want someone similar to Snipes since the series was a continuation of the movies. Jones's selection would've made more sense for a prequel series.
I don't want to knock Jones. He seemed to be enthusiastic about the role and he had knowledge of the comics, however his acting and fighting skills just weren't there. Granted he did get better, as did the writing for him, toward the end of the series, but it was too late. I think that MJW would've had more of an immediate impact.
I also have to wonder if another reason MJW wasn't chosen was because they felt he might object to becoming a supporting character in a series bearing his name. A guy like Jones, fairly new to acting and just happy to be there, would provide less opposition. MJW, after already starring as Spawn, would be tougher to roll over. He might also have more push when it came to defining the character. I have to wonder if Goyer just wasn't so worn out by his issues with Snipes, real or imagined, that he didn't even want to tempt fate again.
yeah would have gotten more than 1 seasonYes definitely I agree with your logic in regards to the MJW situation. Show probably would of had another season with MJW in the role but we will never know now.
Im sorry but the moment it left Norringtons hands it all went downhill. Blade 1 is so underated. All the other Blade films just sucked after IMO. I say just give it back to Norrington and let him have at it. I actually left the theater for goyers version called blade 3. Is it just me or did blade 3 look like it hired a bunch of kids dressed in ambercrombie & fitch as villian vampires?,, i mean WTF.

While I do feel that Blade I is underrated and that Norrington did a great job, I also thought Blade 2 kicked ass. Del Toro brought more of a comic book vibe to the franchise and it felt like Blade 2 had more action (though some uneven CGI). Also the Reapers were the scariest bad guys in all of the movies.
The only issue I had with Blade 2 was that the whole vampire political thing from the first film was largely pushed to the side. I wish they had built on that. I liked Damaskinos but his blue skin look really didn't mesh with the human looking vamps from the first film and Blade 2 didn't do a good job of explaining it. Blade Trinity muddled it even more with Drake.
The series did try to go back to the vampire politics of the first film and expand on that though, one of the saving graces of the series. I just wish it had been more consistent from film to film and then from movies to TV.
Of the films, the only real disappointment was Blade Trinity. And even that had an interesting premise, just poorly executed. Blade v. Dracula could've been epic. It should've been epic.
Norrington has been very unlucky, he's better doing smaller movies and ended up getting 2 high profile movies, with Blade he was able to make it small but still successful, however he had bad luck with league of extraordinary gentlemen which seems to have destroyed his career and reputation. And now that he's planing on making a comeback he shouldn't have tried to use the Crow reboot to do so. Any news about his new movie "The Lost Patrol"?Im sorry but the moment it left Norringtons hands it all went downhill. Blade 1 is so underated. All the other Blade films just sucked after IMO.
