It's not who's the better actor. It's about who's the right one.

I think the better actor - who'll be better at bringing the character to life and portraying the emotion or what not of Peter Parker from the comics - is the 'right one'. Toby was arguable a selection that fit the comics but he wasn't great, as opposed to Garfield who I personally thought didn't blatantly resemble the guy in the comics but pulled a good enough performance that many are petitioning him to stay.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that I'd much rather we get a good actor than a guy who simply looks similar to the comics.

The bottom line is Marvel are going to screen test these guys to see if they work or not. Whoever is hired will fit the requirements.

...........

I like Dylan again :oldrazz:

Watched some of his stuff and he actually made me laugh....and also, he's an animal lover! I like him for life now! :D

You're right, though Strucker doesn't look that far off from the comics. Thanos looks perfect. To be fair, the costumes themselves don't matter that much. Alfred Molina only wore a trench coat and sunglasses and he's considered by most to be the best on screen Spider-Man villain.

I thought that Iron Monger looked okay. So did Loki. So did Winter Soldier. And Red Skull in the comics DOES wear black clothing. The only villain that Marvel really got the look for wrong was Malekith. (Although I'm not big on Guy Pearce playing Mandarin since Mandarin has always been Asian.)

And Whiplash was based on the version created in the late 2000s. His final armor wasn't that inaccurate.

Well both Andrew and Tobey were praised by their acting so you're half right and half wrong :oldrazz:

I guess we're lucky that both Logan and Dylan are good actors who look like Peter :D

Here's hoping they test the actor whilst he is wearing a mask. Obviously Sony didn't bother when screen testing Maguire because he is terrible in costume. No worries about that though, they just made Maguire take his mask off every 5 seconds.

Raimi would have been over the moon with Spider-Man in Civil War revealing his identity to the world because it would have meant dispensing with the mask altogether.

I actually thought the reason Raimi always took off the mask was because it is too hard to emote with your face completely covered but Garfield showed you can absolutely show your emotions despite not being about to see the face, and 'V' from V for Vendetta and Dredd.

Maguire was decent as Peter Parker but I thought his Spider-Man was RUBBISH.

Yeah Garfield had that tone of voice to show his emotions kind of like how eyes can show emotion tone of voice can do that a lot to.

Would people really like a 5'6 Spidey ?

He was what 5'10 in the comics? While if they go with a really young actor who is say 16-18 and is 5'6 they could maybe grow a few more inches and get to 5'8.

Teenage Peter is tiny and that is the reason is was picked on. Having a tiny teen being able to pick up a car is a good image. When Peter is interacting with the likes of Stark and Cap I think it is important to empathize he is just a boy.

The early 20's Spider-Man is 5'10, teenage Peter is at least a couple of inches shorter.

Exactly which is why casting him young is good, is it SM2 when his mask comes off and the train passengers are like he's just boy. It didn't feel like he was just a boy cos Maguire was 28.

It would be great in IW if his mask came off and some of the big guns saw he was just a teenager the entire time. And that would hit harder if he was a teenager or at least looked a lot younger than the others.
