You have to see how the person does in the role before judging them. Heath Ledger taught me that.

Wow this is awful!

I'm ambivalent. I feel like they need a RDJ-equivalent, and I'm not sure anyone like that even exists for spider-man. Maybe an unknown.. somewhere.. out there.. beneath the pale moonlight..

RDJ was stunt casting. An actor whose private life mirrored that of Tony Stark (obviously without the suit of Armour).

Many of those guys look so old, if Marvel is excluding a lot of those more talented and better fitting actors because of their age, then this short list makes no sense

As far as I know, and I follow pop culture pretty well, Dylan O' Brien hasn't been in contention for Spider-Man. He was never been reported by the trades, nor have I heard of any weighty rumors about him being in the running. It's just that his fans (and some people) want him to be Peter Parker. I'll admit that I like the guy and he would be a great fit, but this becoming a self fulfilling prophecy.

Well the trades never talked about Chris Evans as Cap and he wasn't even on the short list for the role, and yet he got it... :o

RDJ equivalent? So someone handsome, likeable, charismatic, who loves his fans as much as they love him and oozes character...hmm. I wonder who'd fill that role.

Because it's not a shortlist. It's just five names he said he's heard consistently.

I never got what was so wrong with Heath Ledger when he was picked for Joker

Blond, well built, appeared in a romcom and a gay love story, didn't show an ounce of charisma before TDK. I've got to be honest, I thought it was HORRIBLE casting. Well, look how 'that' turned out.

In that case we can't discuss anything until the movie is out.

As of right now, I just can't picture any of those guys as Peter Parker. I have reasons enough to feel doubt about this film if any of those are cast.

I've seen only snippets of some of them but I've seen enough of Asa to think he will be brilliant in the role. Not just good, brilliant. I think if he nails the audition the role is his because he ticks a lot of box and there is general audience recognition with his role in Hugo.

That's the point...... they aren't." The fact alone that all of the actors named last night are 18-21 proves the reports that say they were casting a teen, and looking at teens exclusively, are false.

They are exploring ALL of their options.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Anyone and everyone over 15 and under 25 will be looked at.

Timothée Chamalet has an unfortunate case of *****e face I'm afraid.

Serious, that list is disappointing. How is O'Brien not on that list? With a list like that I would rather they keep Andrew Garfield, which is what they should've done anyway.

Do you have any clips that show why he'd be such a brilliant Spider-Man? Because from what I've seen he's far from ideal in my opinion.

its times like these that me miss Andrew
I dont like any of these but I trust Marvel i'm just alittle bit warming up to Asa just alittle but nothing screams IT

Agree. He has made sure to add that there are other names that are secret so this isnt really a shortlist of 5 actors. Would not be shocked to find Sneider just drew the names out of a hat in a bid to one up on the Collider news.

I find it highly unlikely that O'Brien isn't on that list. It's the only way to explain why he was acting so weird at Paleyfest:

He had been asked to read, and didn't want the rumors to ruin his chances.

Who would you like to be cast, Oscorp? I value your opinion/taste on Spider-Man
