We'd have to see why the story was altered for that reason. Most of the time though, it does not seem the case.

Most of the time when shortlists are released to the press or are reported one of the actors or actresses does end up getting cast. Every once in a while you'll have out of left field choices like Affleck for Batman and Eisenberg for Lex in terms of and names which haven't been mentioned before. That's why I tend to think the shortlist is accurate and not just biased from those reporting it.

I don't know what the big deal is. Miles will turn up sooner rather than later and the impact of that appearance will lessened if Peter Parker is already white. Actually, Marvel probably leaked that picture so fanboys will be more accepting of the 5 actor shortlist.

I'm not too sure when it comes to them being trustworthy, but I'm definitely thinking these guys are in contention. Not to say we can't get someone who's name isn't on this list, but the age group at play here is really the key thing.

evans wasn't on the shortlist for captain america. I also wouldn't call ben affleck a left field choice, he's a very capable actor I just don't like that they felt the need to recast batman at all. but we don't need to get into that here.

But the shortlist isn't accurate. It's not even a shortlist. The writer of that report even said as much. It was totally a click bait article, and every one bought it.

They are just among a group of names (which likely includes many actors) who have read for Marvel.

The title of the article makes it seem like they are the final five actors in contention.

They aren't. Jeff Sneider even says so in his article. He says that they are among many who have simply read for Marvel. Also, that many will screen test soon, and there is no guarantee they will be among those to screen test.

And if you know anything about this process, you'd know there is no shortlist until screen test offers have gone out.
