It started when it was just between him and Dylan. You liked him before you fell in love with that MTV Teen Wolf zero brien guy. and now you just can't let go of that mind block.

Doubt it. As well as signing to the film version of Indignation from the Philip Roth bestseller he has just signed to play the title role in Rothchild according to Tracking Board which is about a murdering playboy who wants to get his hands on a family fortune.
I really don't get the hate for O'Brien on here. Is it just because he has so many supporters? Is it the small, but loud, subset of crazy rabid fans he has? Did he run over your puppy while driving away with your girlfriend?

I won't change to Lerman as easily one might think. I have to be interested in the candidate first and foremost.
Nah, not really.. because usually I don't change my number 1 pick only the 2nd and third choices.
I supported Dylan for nearly two months, only when five sources started reporting that he was out of the race is when my hope and supporting started to cease.
That shortlist was the final nail in the coffin for me, no going back for me. the least I can hope for is that Dylan gets to voice Spidey in the animated film

as is evident without Rodrigo, who once hated Dylan but has now confessed he was in love with him the whole time. But it's also evident with Talion liking Dylan at first but now pretending he is a horrible fit, and would never be chosen, which goes for Talion Jr. too (harryoscop ).

People didn't want a reboot in 2012 and a second reboot will test their patience. So it will most likely be marketed more like a sequel in a long line of movies ala James Bond rather than being marketed like a reboot, so no "Spider-man" or "Marvel's Spider-man" which would register to the GA just as "Spider-man" anyway. And since they don't obviously wanna connect it to the Amazing Spider-man series specifically it wont have 3 but an under-title.
Like it or not, Spider-man doesn't have the pull it used to have because audiences fell in love with these new characters while Spider-man desperately tried to not suck. We have 5 movies of Spider-man of doing the same thing, while MCU is evolving constantly. Even if it's great with a simplistic but well done Spider-man story, marketing-wise it needs to have more pull especially in the first solo movie. So, a promise of something new and exciting like "this is the Spider-man that will join the Avengers" is gonna have to be there or GA will be bored when they just look at the poster
that is true that the 2012 reboot was kinda pointless, but sony is riding on hype that this 2nd reboot will be popular enough that no monetary exchange happened between them and disney. hopefully, they are right.
but, this doesn't really mean anything in terms of naming the reboot spiderman again.
The thing with cadting. As I brought up before for films and roles like this. They don't just cast the guy and bam he is on set working the next day.
Costumes take time to get made and fitted to actors. Which could take variety amount if time to get done.
Then they have to set the dates the actor is shooting this scenes. Along with other mcu stars. On top of seeing and reading the script. And again if actor needs to or is required any special type of training for scenes they are in.
It makes sense that they want actor signed and locked in prior to production starting. Even though actor isn't to be on location to a later date. So logically 8 is wiser the role is set and all these other production details are already in place.
also who's to say both marvel and sony could have been making up lists or even speaking of or meeting folks as far back as nov and dec. Which is around the time we know deal was getting more locked in. Just cause the deal wasn't announced to feb. Doesn't mean that deal wasn't already or on verge of being completed. And we the public only learned of it in feb. So makes sense there.
Since look at any past castings for hero films. They takes months and months to get setyled. Do many auctions and then par down choices. And then those choices might meet execs a couple different tines. Then once pick is decided things could take awhile to be locked in ie actor signing contract and working out his pay scale and what not.
It makes no sense to me that they would still be casting and still looking for role. When if the actor is shooting in june gives them very little time to lock person in. Less time for costume makers getting suits ready to go. And less time for actor to prepare for the role.
As for spiderman the next avenger. It is a different title before. But again only a rumor. Marketing wise it does sound good and it would help show general movie goers this spiderman isn't like the past ones. And mark up the mcu connection to the masses. But again if this title was used el did say it was a working title. And ultimately it probably wouldn't be that exact title. I am curious though to see what we do get as the final title.

I agree completely that the role has already been cast. There has to be a really good reason why they haven't announced it yet. Hopefully we'll find out that reason and who was cast in the next couple weeks. This wait is brutal!

Heck as I said I bet spidey role in civil war will be like xmen qyicksilver. In the film for like 10 mins or so. Have at least 2 scenes as peter and intro to him in mcu and his interactions with the mcu heroes. And one big action scene of spidey in action.
And even if he was only to be in a few mins of the film. He ie the actor picked would have to film for at least 3 days minium to at least 2 to 3 weeks.

Harry even though Kevin said it wasn't cast. Doesn't mean he was saying 100% truth there is times Kevin and other ms guys had fudge the truth on things. Heck he could just been dismissing things. So they can do what ever crazy reveal or what not.
Again when ever the reveal happens or press release comes out. I wouldn't be surprised if sony marvel or the actor make comments about having the role for awhile. And how hard it been keeping it secret.

And to stop hoping the best for the role will get in when there is still a VERY high possibility of them getting in should NOT be frowned upon like a couple of people on here think it should be...
We should root for who we think is best for the role.
If Sony/Marvel officially announces that they won't pick someone and they don't plan on reconsidering, then people can still say that that person would have been best, but they should stop mentioning them as a possible role. If there is a high possibility of them still getting the role, then there is no reason to stop rooting for them.

Did Kevin ever say "Spider-Man has not been cast"? If so can I get a link to the interview. What day was it? Do we really know that spidey has not been cast EVEN NOW? Or do we just know that at x date Kevin said he hadn't been cast?
I trust what Kevin says waaaaaaay more than any scooper.
I think we can expect the announcement close to when he has to start filming, but casting is official when the deal is made, not when the announcement is made. And there can easily be a time gap between the two.
Pesoc as for Kevin all I recall is he said the character be 15 or 16. Ans they don't know age actual actor is. I don't recall if he said he wasn't cast.

Also, note the fact that every post is still saying that 'according to Jeff Sneider' those are the top five.
Probably because Sneider claimed that the short-list was official and not just names he came up with.
OR it could be because he never claimed it was the official short-list, and never even claimed that that was the list Sony/Marvel may have come up with. Then because of this other news posts can't claim it to be anything but Sneiders.
