Lets be honest I don't think Kevin Feige would outright say in an interview "Yes we have cast somebody" they want to announce it after we've lost hope of getting an announcement (pretty much at this moment in time) which will have a bigger impact

Did Kevin ever say "Spider-Man has not been cast"? If so can I get a link to the interview. What day was it? Do we really know that spidey has not been cast EVEN NOW? Or do we just know that at x date Kevin said he hadn't been cast?
I trust what Kevin says waaaaaaay more than any scooper.

That's what I want to know. The closest I heard was when they were talking about the age of the character and he said he did not know how old the actor would be. That does not mean he has not been cast. It only means he either hasn't been casy yet or, if he has, Feige was not divulging the age. I have not heard him say, "we're still casting" or "we've narrowed our selection to an x number of candidates" or Peter has not been cast yet."

No one has been cast yet. Screen tests have only just begun.

I really liked The Way, Way Back, but I found him very wooden in it. And the clip you posted has no dialogue from him in it, which is kind of important. :cwink:

If that kid is cast then I'm going to consider Way Way Back as canon.

Peter Parker and his alcoholic Uncle Ben go to the beach-house for a summer vacation.

Whilst there Peter meets young water slide park manager/ weapons designer Justin Hammer who helps him come out of his shell and embrace life.

I won't change to Lerman as easily one might think. I have to be interested in the candidate first and foremost.

Nah, not really.. because usually I don't change my number 1 pick only the 2nd and third choices.

I supported Dylan for nearly two months, only when five sources started reporting that he was out of the race is when my hope and supporting started to cease.

That shortlist was the final nail in the coffin for me, no going back for me. the least I can hope for is that Dylan gets to voice Spidey in the animated film
I don't believe a word you say, sorry. I just think you'd rather be right then get who you truly believe would be the right choice for the role. To each their own.

Agreed x10.

Yeah.
Also, note the fact that every post is still saying that 'according to Jeff Sneider' those are the top five.
Probably because Sneider claimed that the short-list was official and not just names he came up with. :o
OR it could be because he never claimed it was the official short-list, and never even claimed that that was the list Sony/Marvel may have come up with. Then because of this other news posts can't claim it to be anything but Sneiders. :o

Pesoc as for Kevin all I recall is he said the character be 15 or 16. Ans they don't know age actual actor is. I don't recall if he said he wasn't cast.
Yeah, that's all I recall, and that was a while ago. So forall we know they had it narrowed down to 2 people by then, or narrowed it down to 1 even, but the paperwork had not been done and it was not official yet.

The thing really with Jeff article. It wasn't a for sure short list. With his wording that others are unknown to him. And these 5 may not even test or be offered the role. If this was a for sure list. We wouldn't have saying there is others. Or they may or may not test. Look back at past ones. Hell I am sure someone could pull up links for cap thor star lord short lists. And look how those articles state. That x names either have already audition about to audition or where in talks for the role. Jeff list is no different then what we posters been doing since we knew andrew was out. Making lists of potential names.

Now yes Jeff is a decent reporter and yes he scored big scoops on the past. But majority of stuff he said on spidey as of late was either out right bs or mere speculation. As for his list yes it's likely some of those names like Asa or tim are likely folks marvel sony looked at. But like I keep saying any one as of right now to us fans is as likely as the next guy. To we have official press saying different.

I believe you are Dylan Butterfield. :o

I guess you could see it that way , though his statements don't mean they've cast the role either. If anything he statements leave the impression the role hasn't been cast. Taking his statements at face value , It'd be kinda a stretch to see how they imply the role has been cast already.

However, he could be lying and they have cast the role already .In that sense, his statements may not be conclusive as to the whether or not the role is as cast.

Exactly.

Again, I have not heard that from Sony or Marvel.

Yeah, but alot of times studios won't confirm screentests or who's being tested. The same sort of goes with the concept of a shortlist. People want an official confirmation to believe a shortlist or a list of actors under consideration ,but alot of times ,there are no official conformations of shortlists of actors up for a role.

They're aren't press releases for that kind of stuff, so non conformation by a studio doesn't always mean something is or isn't happening.

Frodo why would Kevin reveal who is cast. Before they are ready. More so if they have some big reveal planned or what not. He was only talking how they want to portray the character. Not the actor. Again this is no different then say how x guys where Heavily rumored for role. But marvel doesn't come out and say anything to they are ready to reveal. That doesn't mean oh when reveal happens that is when x guy signed seal and ready to go to marvel party. These things are worked out months in advance.

There is no way again if spidey is shooting in a month. The actor isn't locked in. Like I said earlier actors need time to prep. Ie schedule when shooting takes place. Get there script and study up on the role. Any training need. And again costumes. These things are not whipped up in a day. They ca. Take weeks to months from going for concept art to finished material suit. And the copies made.

If the actor had been cast a while ago, then he can easily be ready for filming in June. :cwink:

Fair enough, you guys believe what you want about me. :)

I believe facts, like when you flat out said you make your decision on who you want for Spider-Man based on the most recent casting news/scoops. What's there to argue? It's black and white.

If the actor gets cast this week or so, he'd still have more than one month for prepping. :yay:

Well, I don't disagree with you, which I why I said , Feige could be lying and they have cast the actor. Its possible they cast the actor already, though they don't always have to work things out months in advanced. It doesn't always happen that way , and given the fact the deal with Marvel is relatively recent I wouldn't be surprised if they were close to picking the actor or they already have picked it. The point is we don't know.

Second, we don't know how big Spiderman's role is nor how long the film is gonna shoot. This isn't a solo Spiderman film. He's gonna be sharing the sharing the screen with several other characters who may , and I say carefully may, have a bigger role than he does. We know that Marvel has in the past done reshoots months before a film release so they have alot more time to cast the role than I think fans realize. That's assuming they haven't cast the role.

I think they'd want more than a month of prepping. Who knows, they could have cast someone months ago and he could have been putting on muscle ever since?

My bad. let me explain it better:
My true pick is still Dylan, I think he is perfect for the role in literally EVERY way. but I'll change to Asa (my second pick, who I have been consistent with for nearly 2 weeks now) because most likely Marvel are looking for actual teens ans I don't want to put all my eggs in one basket and come out ruined, it has happened in the past for me.

For instance; a) if five sources came out and said that Dylan is out the race and that Marvel are looking for an actual teen, my hope for Dylan will cease to exist, but it won't be totally destroyed.

B) Sneider drops a shortlist of candidates, Kevin Feigue confirms that Peter will be 15/16, my hope is obliterated and I'll change to Asa again.
