Im a say right now that I dont like him I wont deny he has the look however I could warm up to him but not until its official

Aint it Cool have picked up the story.

They are surprised they went for an 18 year old (rather than younger). Get real, any younger and time restrictions for filming would have kicked in.

Asa Butterfield is probably the best actor in world under 20. While he is an incredibly safe and predictable choice, I have no doubt he'll be fantastic in the role.

Especially if he beat out Tom Holland, who would've been a remarkable choice in his own right. And it says alot about Asa if he beat out Tom.

Exactly... This.

This. I said before, 18-20 is the perfect middle ground, with the lower end being the preferred.

Before you knock Asa, check out

X+Y
Boy in Stripped Pyjamas
Hugo

Phenomenal for someone so young.

If he does have the role, I hope Marvel haven't just gone with him because he was their first choice all along and have compromised on the wisecracking Spider-Man just to have Asa. He might be their first choice, but if someone can pull off the quips better than him, then that person should be considered more. I hope Marvel aren't just reasoning that they can get a comedy coach for Asa and hoping it will be alright on the night.

I'm sure Marvel was involved in the casting, if they think he is the right dude for the role then I'm 99% sure that he is. I'm glad they didn't get a 23-25 year old for once.

So what was this Instagram thing that people thought Holland's dad had let slip out of the bag that he had the Spidey role?

Those guys over at Reddit are creepily obsessive... Jeez. They will not give up on Dylan O'Brien.

Thank ****ing Christ :)

Holy ****, finally. If this means casting is over, I'm happy. Hopefully Marvel confirms it now soon.

While I think Holland would have been a better fit from what I've seen, I'm not going to act like I should be making these films and tell them Asa is a miscast. If Feige felt confident enough to have him as their Spider-Man, then he must have something we haven't seen yet. I think we all know he's one of the best young actors in the world, but while we haven't seen his comedic side yet, maybe it's hidden in there somewhere waiting to come out.

Now, I guess it's time for me to piss off some more Dylan diehards in Redditleaker's thread again.

Oh, I almost forget. Didn't I tell you he was lying, JOE? ;)
