I'm really rooting for Asa Butterfield here. I've not been following the Spider-Man casting race all that closely, but for as long as I've had a top pick, it's been Asa. He is a great young actor who already has an impressive body of work behind him, while also having the advantage of still being a teenager unlike any previous cinematic Spider-Man. I think he'd be excellent in the role. I'll keep an open mind if any of the other actors rumoured to be in the running end up getting the part, as Marvel don't tend to set a foot wrong when it comes to casting, but it's not often the actor you'd selected in your head for a role ends up on the shortlist, never mind emerges as the front-runner, so at this stage I'll be a bit disappointed if he DOESN'T get it.
