The arrogance is too high harryoscop... It's too high. Silent jabs get you nowhere around here.

The shortlist is NOT the be-all and end-all, as many users on here have proven when shortlists were wrong in the past. Cut the "my way or the highway" act.
Joe, do we really need to do this again? I thought we were over this? I explained my point pretty well last time. it is RARE for an actor not from the Shortlist to be chosen for the part, and Marvel/Sony are NO exception.

Tilda Swinton wasn't on the shortlist for The Ancient One.

Just heard from a highly placed source that the deal's off, garfield and stone are back, and that asm3 is releasing in 2017 on the same date as guardians of the galaxy 2.

Define rare? And then list all the actors that weren't on the shortlist that ended up getting cast.

You're not 100% sure it's one of those actors so stop acting like it. You're just like everyone else on here, waiting for an announcement. Stop acting like the chosen one. The odds are definitely increased for them because of the alleged list, but it doesn't make those actors the only option. Stop acting like it's set in stone.

My point still stands (horrible casting btw..), only in these rare occurrences where Studios decide to go in a completely different direction.

Doesn't sound that "rare" to me! :whatever:

We really need an announcement, this place is getting hostile and Harry still thinks Mysterio is Quentin Becks

What if one of the accounts on here belong to the PR team of Asa or Tom? What if that account keeps on hyping up both the actors because they aren't on the actual shortlist and just want to be on there? Hmmm...

Horrible casting? She's fantastic!

Well, I might not get any Buttermilk...*sobs*... but as long as the (W)right actor gets the role, I will be happy.

Chris Hemsworth, Benedict Cumberbatch and Tom Hiddleston (Josh Brolin doesn't count) are only ones I can think of, virtually all of their other actors were from a shortlist as was Sony's castings too.

And I'm not 100% sure, I'm 80% sure. people hoping for a complete unknow to just come in, swoop down and land the part are probably going disappointed.

Chances are 20% to 80%. very unlikely to happen.

This place has been hostile for a while now, lol. Pretty much why I started using the Ignore List a lot more.

Hopefully when the announcement comes, things cool off.

Chris Pratt wasn't on any shortlists, either

She was horribly miscast in her role.. Ken Watanabe should have been cast in the role. hugely missed opportunity to include more colorful diversity in the MCU.

So they should have gone through with a racist characature? Wong will almost certainly be in the movie, and Chewitel Ejiofor is in there as well, so it's not like the cast lacks diversity.

Alot of times when actors aren't on a shortlist, its because there usually isn't a shortlist because the director of filmmakers have one person in mind which is what happened with Affleck, Ledger, Hardy, Downey, Keaton, Stewart, Mackellan, etc. That's usually when you get the " No one talked about them!" reaction because the filmmakers focused knew what they wanted already so tests and shortlists weren't needed.

There are rumored actors in the media who are allegedly shoe ins for a part such as Bryan Cranston for Lex , which don't come true, but that's because they never were in contention anyway.

When you usually have a shortlist of actors , one of those actors is usually chosen. Maguire, Bale, Garfield, Evans, Hathaway, Collitlard, Craig, Franco, Dunst, Stone, etc were on shortlists and were chosen. Now of course , anything is possible, and casting happens alot of different ways. In this case however, given the multiple sources which are pointing to certain particular actors for the Spiderman part, its unlikely imo we're gonna get some dark horse out of left field choice.

Even if it isn't Asa or Tom , the actor is likely gonna be very similar in age and background. So we could be surprised, but its likely the chose is gonna be 18-20 years old even if it isn't Asa or Tom.

Nope.

Evans was contacted separately from the shortlist, after they had all tested. Trades were reporting that Krasinki was a lock, when suddenly, out of nowhere, Evans got the role. However, he was contacted among a group of other actors, so on a technical level he was on a shortlist, but not the one initially reported.

This thread is still a walk in the park compared to the F4 and X-Threads...where every post has devolved into rights, Disney vs Fox, or Marvel phasing out the F4 and X-Men in the comics... :whatever:

I don't know how some of you can post here 24/7. Either you guys never get sick of the same conversations or you really really like Spider-Man.

Once the actor is announced, I'll probably post here more, but there's nothing to talk about right now.

The point is, the shortlist in no way means that one of those five actors will get the role. A lot of times we have been presented with a shortlist, only for someone completely out of left field to nab the role. The Wrap even noted that others were in contention outside of that shortlist.

Chris Evans was chosen from the Shortlist (he was added two weeks later), Chadwick Boseman was chosen from the Shortlist, Charlie Cox chosen was from the Shortlist, Paul Rudd was chosen from the Shortlist, Scarlett Johansson/Emily Blunt was chosen from the Shortlist (Emily Blunt was originally going to get the role, but backed out because of scheduling issues), Sebastian Stan was chosen from the Shortlist (he was added after he auditioned for Cap), Emily Vancamp was chosen from the Shortlist, Hayley Atewell was chosen from the Shortlist, Neal McDonough was chosen from the Shortlist, Terrance Howard was chosen from the Shortlist, Zoe Saldana was chosen from a shortlist, Dave Batista was chosen from a shortlist, Lee Pace was chosen from a shortlist, Andrew Garfield was chosen from a shortlist, Chris Zylka was chosen from a Shortlist, Tobey Maguire was chosen from a shortlist, James Franco and Dane Dehaan were BOTH chosen from a shortlist, Kirsten Dunst was chosen from a shortlist, Bryce Howard Dallas was chosen from a shortlist too.

All of that is a MONTH'S worth of research. I knew I would need it incase someone ever tried to bring this topic back up.

An actor is RARELY ever not chosen from the Shortlist compared when they are

We're here for the fights. :oldrazz:
