Homecoming The Next Spider-Man - - - - - - - - - Part 18

Hearing Rowe's name in the mix now has me excited about the casting for the next SM for the first time in months. Really hope he gets it but also reallyyy afraid to get my hopes up and be crushed

I have to admit that I don't know much of any of these actors. But I get a good vibe from Charlie Rowe. He seems like someone who can have humour and the gentleness of Peter Parker naturally.

I feel the same on both accounts.

Asa doesn't have the right look or vibe, imo. But Rowe definitely does.

Plus, Rowe just seems to fit better when you compare him to the rest of the MCU cast. I can see him hanging with the likes of RDJ, Chris Evans, etc.

let's face it, if you look at the cast of the MCU films, most of them tend to fall into the "traditionally good looking" category. The leading men are mostly handsome and the leading ladies are mostly hot.

it may sound shallow, but Asa doesn't really have that look.

Rowe, Plummer, and to a lesser extent Tom have a better look that fits with the rest of the MCU cast.

I can't be the only one...

Damnit, this Charlie Rowe guy came out of nowhere. Now I have to go on youtube and find out what he's all about.

Actually, looking real quick, I think he could pull it off. I didn't find anything where he had the same gravitas in his voice as Tom Holland did in Moments (the youtube video that really sold me on him, along with the general interview stuff that showed he had a lot of energy and a sense of humor), but I don't think the lack of videos is Rowe's fault. If anything, it seems to be the fault of his fans who seem to be fangirls who are just gushing over his looks (which I'm indifferent to, this is a casting decision, not a popularity contest). But most of the videos are just pictures set to music so it's to get a good feel for things.

Still, he seems to have a lot of enthusiasm, a good sense of humor (his skype or twitcam one was a good indicator), and can certainly pull off awkward high school.

My preference is still Holland and I'll be happy with Asa Butterfield, but I wouldn't hate Rowe.

oh. wow! I was just thinking that too!

he does remind me of a younger Garfield.

so, if Garfield was good enough for the role, then Rowe should be, too. :o

He also played Rhys Ifans(Dr Connors) pupil turned nemesis in Peter Pan, so he's got two connections to the ASM franchise:cwink:.

Just cast the two Peter Pans
The "good" one, Rowe, is PP, and the "evil" one, Kay, is Harry

it's just that the resemblance is uncanny which is a good thing considering that Garfield was the SPITTING IMAGE of 616 Peter Parker.

Yet he looks nothing like Asa who you also thought was "the spitting image" of 616 Peter

Agreed to all this

Yeah he came out of nowhere for me too, but I've pretty quickly got on board with him. The right look straight off the bat of course just from google images, then this short interview alone (which I've now posted about 10 times sry) :
[YT]5ZWuGFntuAw&spfreload=10[/YT]just to get a feel for his demeanor and overall vibe, which was spot on. And then watching the quick trailer for Red Band Society (which was admittedly extremely short and didn't show much in terms of acting, but it seems serious and sad and uplifting which is good for PP/SM), and now I'm completely sold

I never thought Asa looked anything like any kind of Peter Parker. I don't care about eye color, hair, face 'shape,' whatever you like. Overall he didn't resemble PP to me in the slightest

same here.

the only thing I can say is that Yes, he does look nerdy in the pictures of him with glasses.

but it doesn't really give me a Peter vibe.

I like Rowe a lot from his role on Red Band Society. He was up for Cyclops in XMA, and in my opinion he's just better suited for the Cyclops-type role.

I'm not sure about him as Peter...

He was also supposed to play a young Charles Xavier in X-Men: First Class

Fire Tye Sheridan. Recast Cyclops with Charlie Rowe. Give Spider-Man to Sheridan :woot:

Funny how that works out. Kodi Smit-McPhee (Nightcrawler) was originally cast as young Logan in X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

Haha, Sheridan is definitely versatile enough to nail both. Happy he's Scott, though. ;)

What made them replace the great Kodi with Troye Sivan? Was he just a better fit for the role?

I guess he will be a somewhat edgy PP, with some attitude to him.
Why not fire Kodi from Apocalypse too , and cast him as Harry? :cwink:

Ty was my first pic for Spider-man  Bummed he ended up in the X-verse instead. But yeah I like both these kids for both/either role!

That's what everyone does when they wana sway feelings toward a candidate they like -- post a picture of them with PP glasses. Which obviously is important I know, but you can put those glasses on almost anyone and technically say they look a lot more like Peter Parker.

My big test is do you get a PP vibe from them from just their normal, everyday pictures, no glasses

Not a bad thing that he and Kodi ended up as X-Men. It will be interesting to see them in action.
However, I can reveal that Kodi was one of my absolute favs for PP.
