MTV movie awards is April 12th

Yeah. Feels so long away.

Hey man, its just a week. Just enjoy easter (if you celebrate it) and kick back til DD releases. Do you watch Better Call Saul? Theres that to look forward to on Monday as well

What you you mean "act less than him"? You refer to how the actor is in private life? What does that have to do with anything?
Ever heard about acting?
Act less like him is a general term which not only encompasses the actors personality off screen, but also the personalities which they portray in movies. Most actors have a specific type of role which they play best. Obviously they sometimes can act with a different personality, but they usually still have a main personality which they play best, and therefore they play it most of the time. I am basically saying that someone who has always played an actor who perfectly resembles pp or spiderman, would be the best role for spider-man. Not because others can't act like pp or sm, but because that person has experience, and knows exactly how to act. Sure, they could pick Chuck Norris to play a weak skinny guy who has no confidence whatsoever, but that isn't really who Chuck Norris plays, nor who he is. (Probably not the best example, but surely you understand my point.)
The thing is that in real life, most of the MCU actors are similar to their characters and seem to even have to play the part offscreen because it's almost a permanent role. Imagine having an actor who is the polar opposite of Spider-Man in everything he does in real life. Also, he will have to keep thinking to ensure he's always in character or coming across humorously enough instead of it just coming more naturally.
Yes, exactly. The best actors will stay in personality most of the time, which can be unfortunate if they end up playing a psychopath. :/ In the end though, actors, to be able to act to their full potential usually have to actually act as if they are the actor while on set. (Obviously) Which means they have to speak as if they are the actor, and pretend they are the actor. Usually this translates a lot into them acting when not on set, that way they can play the role even better. What's better than to get an actor who already acts like their character, and already has shown they do great at acting like that on set?

Oooh... so it is confirmed he will start on Tony's side.
:P

Nothing is going to be announced over Easter weekend.

I bet there will be an announcement either today or tomorrow before shooting starts.

This talk about actors being like the characters they portray reminds me of this article I read awhile back.

Relevant quote:
Discussing her work, Hiller said few actors could be so versatile that they become entirely different people, and that most essentially play versions of themselves – or, as she put it, they “operate on the same base energy sphere”. She said some, like Sean Penn, could expand the perameters widely.

As an example, she said that Kevin Spacey “is not particularly warm” and would be unlikely to be cast in an avuncular role.

To an audience including a high proportion of actors and filmmakers, Hiller said that actors should take comfort from the fact that there are many variables that come into play before acting talent becomes a deciding factor in whether or not an actor got a particular part. Acting talent, she said, may only account for 7% of the reason a particular actor would be cast in a role, citing other factors ranging from age and ethnicity to “box office value in China”.

That 7% bit is really depressing.

My safest bet is we won't know until Comic Con or Marvel's own convention thingamajig.
Also, sorry about my outburst a few days ago. I didn't have a good day.

I knew it was fairly low, but I would have guessed 20% at the least! Wow... 7%. I guess usually when someone is a 'good actor' it really means they fit their role well.

Kevin Spacey for Uncle Ben then! :o

If peter were to be... say 15. Then would that make uncle ben significantly younger looking? Say... Kevin Spaceys age?
Im on board for that! :whatever:

Ya I still see no problem with an actor in 20 to 24 range being picked. Like many have said we don't know what grade peter is starting at. And even if he was freshmen in 17. By 2020 he would have to graduate by then. With the way mcu time line is. So with that we could see hs time be civil war solo 1 both infinity wars and solo 2 if out in 19. Maybe we could get 3rd solo film in 2020 if they shot 2nd and 3rd solo together maybe.

But that's thing we don't know grade he is starting at. And like I said even if starting at a freshmen he has to be out of hs by 2020 no way to stretch it any more. And really we would have at least 5 films with teen peter from 16 to 19 yrs old. And by the time 2019 happens a 20 to 24 yr old would by 27 to 29 yrs old playing a 19 yr old ish character.

Then phase 4 and on like I said since we don't know what movies. Or solo films he be in during future phases. We could jump a few yrs in time and we then be getting a 20 to 27 yr old range peter. And I don't see problem of a late 20s to early 30s actor playing mid 20s range character. Things would still be good with actor they are still young and could still do movies for at least 3 full phases. To we likely then would see them replaced or fired in the role.

The biggest thing is the character may start as a teen around 16 yrs old range. That doesn't mean the character will be staying that range in mcu. We get teen spidey for phase 3. The phase 4 be young adult peter in early to mid 20s. Then late phase 4 into phase 5. We likely see peter age nit get mentioned and have the character set at ambiguous 28 to 33 range the current comics have peter set around.

'Good actor' to be considered for the roles, yes, but the 'good actor' remark generally means they play the part well. Maybe that means whatever work actors have played before means little to the casting director.
