Peter was supposed to have inherited his comedic side from his uncle Ben, right? Yet, I never imagined Cliff (as wonderful as he was) and Martin to be the funny guys to have given Peter that sarcasm and quick wit.

So I propose, Peter Venkman! :p

And if you watch St. Vincent, you'll see that it could work for Bill to be fatherly and funny :p

Murray could do it!

I don't want to see Uncle Ben anywhere near the new Spider-Man franchise as that will either mean the origin again at the start or in a flash back. No thanks.

I think even this is exaggerating. Garfield was good, but he in no way defined the role or did something with it that no other actor could have.
I think actors like Bale as Batman, Downey as Iron Man, Ledger as the Joker, hell at this point I'd even say Evans as Cap, have really cemented their place and defined the character through their performance. Those guys would be tough to top; Garfield not so much.
I can't help but think that you all will easily fall in love with the next guy once he puts on the suit and makes a few wisecracks.
And once again I liked Garfield in the role quite a bit, I just don't over romanticize what he did with it.

Garfield was way better then bale or evans. His devilry on the jokes where great and the emotion and devilry when gwened died and with ant may on your my boy has while has when gwen comes to the power plant towards the end. I could go on and on.

Garfield was as close to perfect as you can get for this role, and this was also the first time we've had a Spider-Man this accurate to the comics.

Logan will be better.

I was on the Logan bandwagon before Garfield and then Garfield was cast and gave me the Spider-Man I've always wanted (his PP is debatable).
Since then, I have seen Lerman in two Percy Jackson movies and I thought he was terrible. Bullet dodged when LL didn't get the Spider-Man role.

I'm all for casting an unknown. I remember when Garfield was cast and checking out his movies (mainly indie) and thinking 'wow'. Maybe new guy will make check out new movies as well.

I highly recommend you watch The Perks of Being a Wallflower and/or Fury. He was quite good in both.

The worst part about casting a new guy is he might not be as good looking as Garfield.. Or not as tall. That is my biggest fear.

If you weren't impressed by Logan in Percy Jackson, then I suggest you check him out in "Fury" his acting has vastly improved; he has a lot more range now. (I also suggest "The Perks of Being a Wallflower).

I have no issues with them re-using villains because they're just so classic, it would be weird not to see them although I'd be up for seeing Kraven, Chameleon, and/or The Scorpion. Not a fan of The Vulture, but it would be a breath of fresh air.

Thoughts?

Great casting! Meryl Streep as Aunt May: Nice...

He's a good Spider-Man, but he sucks ass as Peter Parker.

A little young for Peter Parker (maybe) but the actor from Ender's Game was fantastic but his range was serious and you didn't see a lot of humour so it is unclear if he could quip under the mask.

Depends what you want from Peter Parker. The 60's nerd just isn't relevant in this day and age. I wont be a hypocrite though, I thought Peter was unlikeable in the first ASM, but c'mon, his uncle had just died.
I really warmed to him as PP (already loved him as Spider-Man) in ASM2, the cinema cracked up with the 'whhaaaaat...' line.

His sm was perfect and his peter was good but not perfect.

Whys everyone suddenly campaigning for Lerman for the role? They realise O'Brien wasn't actually that great?

Wut?

Do you realize how close Garfield is to modern comic-book Peter Parker appearance-wise? Tall, handsome, brown hair, brown eyes, etc.

Wait a min. Why is there Lerman on your avatar? Why did you betray #TeamO'Brien?!

I see where you're coming from lol..

Because Logan is rumored to be Marvel's favorite. I don't want to set myself up for disappointment.
