Spidey in the comics is 5'10. He's average height. Not that short.

5ft0 is short though compared to all the massive 6ft plus heroes in the comics. In the MCU Hemsworth towers over most at 6ft3.

Unless they go Hutcherson short I don't see much of a problem. And that is only a problem because you'd have to cast a tiny MJ/Gwen.

Hutcherson looks too much like a bully and a jock. the test footage of him looked like the beginning of a porn

fair enough. though Peter was a little guy in ultimate- and spectacular spider-man, both versions looking fine

That's because he was in highschool, and didn't have his growth spurt yet.

And who better else than Vincent? Since he's 22 and will forever look 12 :p

And also Thomas Sangster

He's 5'10 mind :hmm

^First thing to come to mind looking at that image.

And yet, Marvel supposedly wants a teenage Peter Parker. :shr:

Which I would really hope he wouldn't remain for long. It's one of the other reasons I would want Andrew back. He is already established, would be out of high school, start college life, and after 1 or 2 Movies, be done with that too.

I want more focus on adult Peter Parker, and not constantly focus on his time as a high schooler.

Only three candidates? Are you serious? Where's the actors that either lost the role or turned it down last time (Hutcherson, Dillane etc).

But I vote for Lerman!

I can't read all 27 pages, but I've checked some. Freddie Highmore and Thomas Sangster have been suggested. The later is really cast-against-character (Ezra Miller Flash, anyone). But he's a really good actor so it might work.

What about Frank Dillane who was considered before Garfield won the role?

Or maybe Rollo Weeks. He's a few years older than Lerman/Dillane/Hutcherson/O'Brien

No one is. Still makes it pretty hard to top the guy who was as close to perfect for the role as you can get.
To me he is. I mean I think the next person could be good to but to surpass Garfield is going to take like a joker dark knight type of performance.

I think even this is exaggerating. Garfield was good, but he in no way defined the role or did something with it that no other actor could have.
I think actors like Bale as Batman, Downey as Iron Man, Ledger as the Joker, hell at this point I'd even say Evans as Cap, have really cemented their place and defined the character through their performance. Those guys would be tough to top; Garfield not so much.
I can't help but think that you all will easily fall in love with the next guy once he puts on the suit and makes a few wisecracks.
And once again I liked Garfield in the role quite a bit, I just don't over romanticize what he did with it.

Awwww :funny:

And I'm guessing its the casting we least suspect. It nearly always is.

I think actors like Bale as Batman

Did he really? He is consistently one of the least acclaimed parts of the trilogy. His Bat-voice is a point of endless ridicule. He gave a solid effort, don't get me wrong, but he is soon to be replaced with little protest.

Substitute him with Jackman and I agree with your list.

I think Bale is a lot like Tobey as Spidey. He is recognized as solid/adequate, but not irreplaceable. Plus, Bale's successor is primed to replace him without much ruckus, just as Garfield did with Tobey.

They had their chances.
Don't forget how Hollywood works. Henry Cavill lost SR before MOS.
But if we go by your logic, Lerman also had his chance, according to this:

A list of actors that were supposedly up for the role in The Amazing Spider-Man and their current age:

- Jaime Bell (age 28)
- Alden Ehrenreich (age 25)
- Frank Dillane (age 23)
- Josh Hutcherson (age 22)
- Aaron Taylor-Johnson (age 24)
- Anton Yelchin (age 25)
- Logan Lerman (age 22)
- Michael Angarano (age 27)

And of course the winner and our current Spidey... Andrew Garfield (now aged 31).
Angarano wouldn't be that bad! But from the list, I want either Lerman or Dillane.

I could agree with this, and Jackman is a good addition, he just slipped my mind.
But I think most people would say Bale put forth a better effort than Tobey, a lot of people have grown to dislike him and I think no one will ever reach that point with Bale. The main reason I put him up in the list is because people will endlessly compare Affleck to Bale once Superman v Batman comes out, because to a lot of people those trilogies are their definitive Batman movies, and Bale is most definitely a part of that.
Either way my point stands that whatever you think the upper-echelon of CBM superhero actors are, Garfield is definitely not one of them.

And that's your opinion. Mine is that Andrew was a fantastic Peter Parker and Spider-Man. And not just simply because he could do wisecracks.

He definitely cemented his role as Spider-Man, more than Bale did as Batman. In my humble opinion at least. Bale might have been a good Bruce, but he was far from the ideal Batman. I think that honor still belongs to Keaton. Keaton's Batman isn't constantly being made fun of. I think not even Adam West's Batman is the butt of endless jokes.

I dunno if you stroll the Batman forums or not, but there are a considerable amount of people who dislike Bale. I would say it's pretty comparable to Tobey.

Completely agree, but it doesn't seem like we'll be getting him back sadly. :csad:
