Not playing used games should bother everyone IMHO.

As it's not just used. Borrowing a friends copy or vice versa..No more.

More restrictions are bad. Never good.

That is another problem I have with it. If I get a new game, or my buddy gets a new game often times we'll bring it over to one anothers house to check it out and play together. Won't be able to do that anymore.

A little?

Anyway, the action of banning used games is controversial enough that it could possibly warrant lawsuits. I know that there's been a growing debate the last few years over license rights with the PC (hence the argument "I bought the game and the license to use the game so I should do whatever I want with it"), so if it would ever comes to systems it would be a major fight and I believe possibly lawsuits.

Well, they're planning on this generation of kids who grew up with digital everything to just be used to it because us old fogeys are a niche market. They'll find some way around it at some point.

Meh
I'm not worried about it.
Me and my friends aren't poor. We all buy our own copies and versions of games, and as working adults, we hardly have time for video game visits at each other's places with each other's families anyway.

So when we do have social calls, it's not to play video games. Well at least not anything that isn't a party game like Guitar Hero, Rock Band, or etc.

...It has nothing to do with how "poor" you are or aren't. It has EVERYTHING to do with restrictions. If you're ok with taking it without lube... By all means....

I agree with hats off if you're concerned about these rumors you're likely poor and have weak social planning.

Great video, thanks for the link.

It does seem like Microsoft is going for an entertainment/social media hub while PS4 is going with the pure gaming machine.

Since I have no interest in tweeting while I'm gaming, and PS4 will have its fair share of similar features, I'm heavily leaning towards jumping ship to Sony.

Or what about services like GameFly?

So since the new xbox will be leaning towards more "entertainment" instead of a pure gaming monster, does that mean that they won't be able to make games where choices affect the storyline so that there could be many different outcomes and endings? Choice-based-storylines, in my opinion, are the future of gaming and I really hope that for the new xbox they make games with a lot more depth and different twists in most of their games.

What Microsoft chooses to focus on with Durango doesn't really affect what kind of games developers choose to make.

What about the capacity that the console can take in?

Like say for example, GTA 5 is bigger than san andreas, liberty city, and red dead redemption COMBINED. The xbox 360 can handle that. But what the xbox 360 can't handle is for example a GTA 6 who's open world is 10 times bigger than Just Cause 2. Will the new xbox be able to handle that?

Neither I, nor anyone else outside of Microsoft's inner circle know Durango's specs and what it's capable of, but I guarantee you it will be able to run next gen GTA.

I also find the prospect of an "always connected" Kinect kind of........creepy.

does that mean it has to be always on?

and if so, does it mean it's now tracking my every move?

also, I hope they don't force you to used Kinect in every game.

that would be another huge dealbreaker for me. For practical purposes, I don't have the space/layout to use a Kinect.

As soon as they announce something that trumps this thing, you'll all go back to it. They got your ass.

I don't see an issue with Kinect always being plugged in, to be honest. I just won't use it.

well, it's more a matter of........will it always need to be on?? will they force you to use it with every game?

If it stays on when I pull out the mains then at least I'll be saving on electricity. :)

Look all this rumor and speculation, concerns are fine and just, but people shouldn't spend too much time or energy being worried about rumor.

I am personally waiting to see what Microsoft will be showing at E3 in a couple of months, and reserving all judgement and decision making until afterwards.
I really enjoy rumours and speculation (even ******** rumours and false speculation) about next gen stuff. Also films, games & pretty much any upcoming entertainment. But I think some people don't have that much fun during the unconfirmed (********ting) stage so I'm not sure why they follow them quite as closely. It's even worse now with internet news reporting 24 hours...there's a lot more crap out there created non-stop in the absence of news (on all subjects) to keep sites high on the browser search rankings. And positive rumours are always less likely to come out as they're being saved for the reveal. Anything genuinely good that's leaked will take away from the impact.

I honestly feel this is gonna be the generation where sony jumps back as the dominant console market leader.

I think something that plays a difference is that the PS division means more to sony as a company than XBOX does to MS. You can tell that sony is really fighting for that #1 position this time around while MS and xbox has been more content to trot out things like the kinnect.

I was all about the Xbox 360 for the bulk of this generation, but I have zero interest in Durango.
