Comedy The Offical Saturday Night Live Thread - Part 3

So how many SNL appearances has Julia Louis Dreyfus made since she was on the show as a cast member 40 years ago? I know she was at SNL 50, sitting in the audience with a random dog in a bit that featured Tina Fey and Amy Poehler answering questions.

I figured it was inevitable with Sabrina Carpenter hosting but they're really running the Domingo sketch into the ground.

The first one was the only time it worked for me.
I gotta admit, I didn't even care for it much the first time around but I can see why people dug it. The only time I liked it was during the 50th and that was only because the guest stars like Sabrina, Pedro Pascal and Bad Bunny made it better.

What is this?

AKA the only popular recurring character SNL currently has at their dispense, so they're milking it.

They've done it 4 times in a year? :weeping:

That was the moment it became beyond tired for me. But then I hate the original Sabrina song which I think is why I enjoyed the original sketch so much for highlighting its awfulness. :funny:

I still remember when SNL used to have recurring character sketches. Feels so long ago. I think the last one was Kate McKinnon's UFO lady.

Oh please you only loved the Try Monogamy song. :o

There was Lisa from Temecula but now Ego Nwodim's gone. The only one I can really think of before that during the Kate McKinnon era besides UFO lady was Pete Davidson's character Chad.

The Home Shopping Network sketch from last night that always shows something innocent that looks obscene has been done a few times in the past but those don't really count since it's really just the premise that's reoccurring along with Mikey Day being in them.

For the last decade or so it's mostly been only Weekend Update characters that recur regularly on the show these days, and even then it's a select few if we don't count them playing real people, like Cecily Strong showing up as Jeanine Pirro for example.

I do miss the Dionne Warwick show.

Another reason to miss Ego Nwodim. I just wish she stuck it out for one more season. She's definitely missed. Heidi Gardner too, because now that she's gone they're forcing Sarah Sherman to play normal roles instead of letting her be weird, which she excels at. I will say that the one good thing to come out of this is that Ashley Padilla is getting a chance to shine. She could very well be this decade's Wiig or McKinnon.

I think the only song I’ve ever loved from a sketch on SNL (and I don’t mean songs made for it to be funny, but like pre-existing songs used in sketches) was that French one from the original “Youths of Paris” sketch with Emma Stone. That s*** was annoyingly catchy. Funny enough I did previously kinda like that Imogen Heap song used in the OC spoof but that sketch killed it properly dead. :funny:

I watched some of the Amy Phoeler skits from last week. The new people were stiff, but damn was the lack of people of color noticeable.

And the one new guy who is, well...if you want your head to explode just look up Kam Patterson's standup. The dude is far right. He makes Shane Gillis look like Patton Oswalt.

I'm still flabbergasted that they didn't scramble to add a black woman to the cast after Ego's departure. Maybe during midseason.

I knew his acting in the joke about the interracial gay couple in the Lawyers with Experience sketch felt weird.

I think they think that they don't need one right now because nobody is making headlines that warrant a sketch.

It doesn't matter. The show got backlash before for not having any black women in the cast before Sasheer Zamata and Leslie Jones were hired and it'll happen again if they don't add someone.
