So wait Pym has a disdain for the Avengers? Interesting. So that would make Lang more of a vigilante then.

That makes for an interesting dynamic should Pym and Lang show up in a future Avengers film.

He's just mad he didn't think of ultron first....

The focus on the panel wasn’t on Marvel’s next phase of movies — “Doctor Strange,” etc. — but what’s being released in 2015, although it did announce “Guardians of the Galaxy 2″ for July 28, 2017. That includes “Ant-Man,” which has Peyton Reed taking over from Edgar Wright. The switch didn’t sit well with Marvel’s fanbase at first, and the director received tepid applause when taking the stage.
But Marvel tried to win the room over with fanboy friendly factoids like Peyton making his 20th trip to Comic-Con and having played in a punk band called Johnny Quest.
New test footage was also screened for the film that starts production in August, revealing an energetic action sequence in which star Paul Rudd’s character escapes on the back of a flying ant.
During the panel, Evangeline Lilly was confirmed as Hope Pym, the daughter of Hank Pym (played by Michael Douglas). She had been avoiding the press when it came to the role for days while at Comic-Con. And it was revealed Corey Stoll will play Darren Cross, the villain Yellow Jacket.
Rudd was making his first trip to San Diego, “and it is as advertised,” he said. He finds the chance to be in a superhero film thrilling “but tough to wrap my brain around.”
Michael Douglas, who is also a first timer at the Con, said he “always looked at Marvel films from afar with envy,” given their scale and massive fanbase.
But it was “The Avengers: Age of Ultron” panel that had the crowd on their feet multiple times, especially at the start as Robert Downey Jr. took the stage, throwing red roses at his screaming fans.
He was soon joined by Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Samuel L. Jackson, Cobie Smulders, James Spader, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Olsen.

I wonder if dancing is a part of Rudd's workout routine.

I'm rather holding onto sadistic hope that Douglas' "Pym" doesn't make it out alive from ANTMAN's plot and Rudd is left alone to carrying on in his name.

Oh man... Was there booing? I'm too scared to watch.

So I read a bit on casting and the outline and it seems like it's going like the first Iron Man route basically. Lang runs Pyms company and Pyms old partner is doing bad stuff behind everyones back and probably plots to take over the company. Not that impressed with just a rehash of IM1.

Well I am glad it takes inspiration from IM1 since they share a lot of similarity and its probably the best superhero origin movie out there

But i doubt it would be a rehash

Watching back the Ant-Man panel and all these so called "FANS" that are very "FORTUNATE" to be at SDCC '14 boos the crap then laugh the hell out of the new director (with little to no amount of cheer or claps) is just so immature and very ungrateful.

Edgar Wright left, but the repercussions amongst these fans are just hatred.

This is why I look back and appreciate all the Marvel / Fox / Sony and DC projects.

We're lucky and we should be grateful for all these things.

The booing stuff is pretty cruel/lame to me. I mean people need to grow up at these things.

To clarify the Wasp situation, Hope Van Dyne is an actual character from the comics. Particularly, the MC2 universe:

http://marvel.wikia.com/Hope_Pym_(Earth-982)

She's the daughter of Hank Pym and Janet Van Dyne, and takes up the Wasp mantle in her memory.

So as some have suggested, Janet (whom may be dead in the modern day) will likely operate in the 70s with Hank, while their daughter acts as the new Wasp alongside Scott.

Well Edgar Wright was saying for years that his Ant-Man was similar to the first Iron Man.

The plot does sound a little generic but I'm excited for the visual aspects of the movie and the characters seem fun.

Michael Douglas plays a lot of business men type characters.

I like the Pym taunting Lang
"Someone already stole your balls"

No mention of Cassie Lang so I'm guess she is out of the movie or perhaps lives with Scott's ex-wife and he doesn't see her.

I cant judge this from a hardcore Ant Man fan perspective because I really never read the comics or knew about him before recently. This will be a new MCU experience for me. So I just want a great, fun film. Thats my expectation level.

I love the first Iron Man movie. I can't wait to see the Ant-Man vs Yellowjacket fight. :yay:

I'm interested in seeing what the Yellowjacket suit looks like.

I doubt it looks like this.

I'm guessing it probably looks like the Ant-Man suit in yellow and black with the shoulder disc things.

I always dug Yellowjackets outfit. Its really neat! It would be cool if they did something like it but so it doesnt look goofy. Just toned down a bit.

Just read that Peyton Reed co-wrote the Back to the Future Ride. Alright, I'm a bit more pumped now.
