Neither was Batman Begins' script. Sometimes studios drop new reboot scripts to test the waters...

I'm not saying he's right. I've never read the Spidey one but don't jump all down a guys throat.
How am I jumping down anybody's throat?

You very well might be right. We have no way of knowing yet.
That's the fun of it

I just think it's a cool angle that I hope they play out. Makes the fateful spider bite have a bit of a twist if he gets it that way. I would also love to see Norman introduced (even if only in name) as a guy in the shadows...maybe Peter learns his parents were spying and had info that Norman was using human subjects for tests...... Maybe that's why Connors is able to work there (he's not opposed to experimenting on himself)? This just opens up possibilities that will make it an interesting movie and far different than the previous trilogy...

I loved the first 3 films, but this will make the new series a different kind of great, using different story ideas (mystery, intrigue, etc) as a way to differentiate it... and before people say "that's Batman, not Spider-man"...no. Some of the best Spider-man stories have mystery to them.... Hobgoblin? The Second Green Goblin? Hell even Norman? Master Planner? Peter's Parents?

The good news about this teaser trailer is that, on a technical standpoint, it's put together and edited very well. It does an excellent job at establishing the character of Peter Parker, showing him to be a shy, awkward, and very lonely young man who still trying to cope with feeling abandoned by his parents after their death.

But the tone of the trailer? It's moody, it's brooding, and takes itself way too seriously. Until you get to point-of-view sequence of Spidey jumping and swinging over the city accompanied by a swelling orchestral score, this doesn't come across like it's film about Spider-Man, this comes across like David Cronenberg's The Fly as imagined and written by Stephanie Meyer--a teenage horror flick (in this case body horror) in which the lead is yet another angst-ridden, insecure, passive-aggressive loner.

Granted, I get that Spider-Man does have elements of teenage angst and isolation in it's roots, but it also conveys a sense of fun. And it's that sense of fun that this trailer sorely lacks and I'm afraid will not be in the final product.

Agree with ya 100% on that final paragraph.
I luh-huv the trailer, and I luh-huv the fact that this movie is delving deeper into Parker's character (more substance in one trailer than an entire trilogy from Raimi), and includes Parker's parents for the first time; but the wisecracking Parker/Spidey has absolutely GOT to be there this time around.

PLEASE, Marc Webb: do NOT fall into the same Raimi mistake of turning Pete into a brooding emo loner. Parker always uses humor as a weapon and shield against the tragedies that burden his life, instead of moping around and feeling sorry for himself like Tobey Maguire did. SHOW THIS, ABOVE ALL ELSE.

Who here has the supposed The Amazing Spider-Man script?

No script. Just a plot outline that "leaked". Very well could be false, or based on a very early draft. Many of the set photos, etc have not corroborated the descriptions, but some seem plausible and interesting. It's on page two, linked, if you want to take a look.

The end scene sounds awesome, IMO. That's one of the things I see as a possiblity.

Are we allowed to talk about the leaked trailer here or no?

The leaked plot summary could have been taken from First Draft. We had 3 writers on the film. From what I could tell from the leaked teaser it looks like some elements from leaked plot summary could be correct. They could hav worked to beef up Ben Parker's screentime somewhat since they got martin Sheen to play him.

I also got a Specular Spider-Man Vibe somewhat from the teaser. The filmmakers may have looked at the show In preparion for the film.

it seems like Normal Osborn may be a shadowy pressence In the film.We won't actully see him but he will be mentioned.Perhapes setting him up to be Introduced In sequel.

So everyone thinks Peter

catches a fly in front of Aunt May, i was thinking it was a spider, but a fly would make more sense...I guess.

I already did, but some of you were saying that there was a script that wasn't taken out and that differed from the outline in that Ben is killed inside his house

What I get from it:

Peter's parent's DID work for Oscorp (like in the leaked plot summary).

Gwen and Connors work at Oscorp.

When Peter finds the briefcase with his father's things, he discovers that he and his mother worked for Oscorp and he gets an internship there to investigate the company, and find out more about his parents....this leads to the spider bite.

There probably IS a whole conspiracy as a sub-plot to Peter's parents and their deaths....and I think we will definitely get mentions of Norman, and he'll, in fact, be responsible in some way for Richard and Mary's deaths...

Seriously? :whatever:

Seriously? :whatever:

I'm gonna save this post, I think and put it in my "I told you so" folder for later.

They wouldn't bring Peter's parents in, just to include them as fan-service. They seem integral to the plot...they OPEN the trailer with Richard. He finds a briefcase of his father's belongings....when we get an HD screen grab of the cases contents.....we'll see....

Yep, you can even see it fly away.

Yeah, I think so, Doctor Who.

Cool, thanks alot.

At any rate then, just saw it; bad quality, but I got the picture. I'll wait for an HD version to come out first to get a more qualified opinion. But I have to say, I liked it; I can already tell it's going to be closer to the books with the introduction of Peter's parents. And it's different from what I've seen from a normal superhero movie was well oddly, so that to be alone is a daring quality that I like. All of the actors and actresses look A list, and will be looking forward to seeing Andrew giving a rousing performance.

My only real problem though is that this trailer HONEST TO GOD made me feel homesick for the first Spiderman film; I don't care what anyone says, but I grew up with the first Raimi film when I was kid and loved it. I hated that it lowered down and became absolute crap by SM3 when it was on a real role, and it just seeing something similar to this again so soon just gives me a bad vibe of emotions that I miss dearly. :csad:

But it's good so far; I wasn't wowed, but I just hope Webb is holding back from us.

I just saw the trailer and i thought it was pretty good i hate how they are re telling how he got bit

Trailer was amazing! Atmosphere was great and I loved the ending. I want to see that first person web swinging scene in 3D.

Seriously? :whatever:

His theories are based on solid logic. I wouldn't be surprised if the plot revolved around Peter trying to figure out if his parents' deaths were an accident or not.

That plot outline seems like a pilot episode for a proposed spider-man tv series
