This is why we are hostile. You come just to bash it. Why bother?
No, this place is hostile because it's always Raimi fans vs. non Raimi fans. "Certain" people have tried to make it sound like we can't like both.

Well..surely you can't be both a fan of something and not a fan of something.

Those two things are mutually exclusive.

People either like the Raimi films or they don't, and they should be as open to expressing their opinion as anyone. I actually think rabid defenders of Raimi who say he did everything perfectly..(especially with installment 1 and 3) have a much harder argument to make here.

Of course, the truth is usually something closer to the middle, and there is nothing wrong with enjoying two different approaches (which is what I take your point to be).

Someone just posted in here that it's vital not to make Garfield a mopey Maguire no personality Parker again.

Amen to that. He must instill that humor we have all been dying for. He must go through some s#@$ and then use humor, hopefully taught by Uncle Ben, to get him through situations.

This must be seen!! I'm talking to you Webb!!:argh:

That's what EVERYBODY who adored Raimi's version (including me) is doing. Nobody on here is boycotting the movie. Why? Because we are all Spider-Man fans.

Just to be clear, the trailer is going to be shown before Captain America in both formats?

It needs quips. That's what will make it a Spider-Man movie. If they get the humour in there..then from the looks of this trailer, they've nailed the aesthetic and tone of the USM comics.:awesome:

I'm gonna save this post, I think and put it in my "I told you so" folder for later.

They wouldn't bring Peter's parents in, just to include them as fan-service. They seem integral to the plot...
they OPEN the trailer with Richard. He finds a briefcase of his father's belongings....when we get an HD screen grab of the cases contents.....we'll see....

My question is WHY?!?! The whole idea that Peter gets bit by the spider while basically on a "mission" to investigate shady sh** involving his parents and OSCORP is just overdoing it to me. It kind of betrays the simplicity of Peter's origin, and furthermore overshadows some of its more vital elements. 'Cause as it stands, the movie we're being sold right now is "Peter Parker, suspicious of his parents death, seeks the truth, and by a freak accident, gains the power to properly avenge them. By comparison, Uncle Ben's just some old dude he lives with!"

I heard some posters comparing the plot outline to ANOTHER REBOOT SCRIPT in wich they have ben dieing in different ways

Being bitten by the spider was only part of what created Spider-Man. It was Uncle Ben who instilled him with the proper moral set.

Like Superman wouldn't be the Superman we know without the Kents. He'd be someone else with the same superpowers.

Spider-Man Is my second favorate comic book properity after the X-Men but I never totally diged the Rami trilogy. And I felt this way before Spider-Man 3.Spider-Man and Spider-Man 2 are well made films but they were always missing stuff to me.I have always been open to this reboot If they make It well and It can avoid the mistakes I felt Rami did.The leaked plot outline Intrigued me but now both the EW coverstory and the leaked teaser has me excitied. What some forget Is mystery has often been used for Spider-Man storys. The green Goblin, especilly The Hobgoblin, and even the much decrayed Clone Sage of the 1990's.And having mechinal web shooters and having Gwen as the female lead are huge pluses In my book.

I don't understand the jump you make here.

Peter gains his powers during something other than a simple school field trip.

Therefore

Ben is unimportant.

I'm not following your logic. Ben's role in Peter coming to terms with his powers and responsibility seems to have no bearing on the parental subplot unless they are deliberately linked by the script. Even so, that would only make the overall arc more cohesive and thematically resonant.

Unless I'm missing something.

You aren't missing anything. He's struggling to create an argument.

I have to say,
I love the POV, a new take on him swinging.

I concur.

Calm down Mr. X-Files lol.

I wonder if what Peter's parents are working on has something to do with the Symbiote in Ultimate Spider-Man fashion.

Exactly. I've actually brought that fact up multiple times :whatever:, and the one thing the trailer needed to do, but didn't, was showcase that. That's my problem.

When the first FULL trailer for Raimi's Spider-Man came out, it made the point of showing Uncle Ben talking to Peter and telling him "With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility".

I've made no declaration of what this film will be, but from the trailer, they're not doing as much as they could have to really show why Peter becomes Spider-Man.

The overall issue I'm having with the trailer is that it's a bit confusing as to what kind of film it's trying to sell the audience. If you have two and a half minutes for the trailer, you need to make that clear, and this trailer doesn't. Right now, we've got a lot of rehashed story and character beats that were already covered in the previous film, some hints of industrial espionage and a possible murder mystery, nothing at all to show Peter's relationship with Uncle Ben and a clunky reveal of the film's "hero".

I'm actually kind of certain that there will be a symbiote tie-in in either the 2nd or 3rd films. I'm very curious to see what they do with Peter's parents and how they represent them.

Overall, this trailer has me STOKED about this film. I've been a Spidey fan for the ages, and while I understand my fellow fans that are worrisome about how dark and almost grim this film seems, I'm excited for it! It's a new, fresh take on Spider-Man we've never seen before me. And to me, I still felt Spidey and Pete in this trailer. Particularly when Peter is acting all giddy and happy to be at Oscorp and Gwen has to emphasize "Not to touch anything!" and to not get her in trouble.

Trailer didn't reveal much to be honest. I hope they don't waste too much time with the origin crap though, we already got that 10 years ago. This whole subplot with the parents could be pretty lame if not done correctly too. They should of just left them out. I think we got the first person because they didn't want to reveal too much of him swinging or the full suit in action.

Looks like they took a little bit from SSM with Gwen being super smart(not saying this Gwen is super smart though), seems like she is interning and I like the glasses.

I think this trailer did exactly what TDKR trailer did, remind the audience and tease them a bit. Even though it was a full trailer it seemed like a teaser trailer.

And if the "great power/great responsibility" quote did make it into this trailer, the same people complaning about it missing would be screamng "HEY THAT WAS IN THE FIRST TRAILER FOR RAIMI'S FILMS!"

Also, why are people failing to see THAT WE NEED AN ORIGIN!

1. To make clear that this is a re-telling of the Spider-Man story

and

2. To display how Peter came up with the webshooters and synthetic webbing.

You expect a trailer to showcase everything?

When the first FULL trailer for Raimi's Spider-Man came out, it made the point of showing Uncle Ben talking to Peter and telling him "With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility".

Different times, different people, different trailer.

I've made no declaration of what this film will be, but from the trailer, they're not doing as much as they could have to really show why Peter becomes Spider-Man.

Why is it absolutely imperative that they show that in the trailer?
