It's going to happen though.

15 years is a LONG time.

Spider-Man, like Batman, is too much of a cashcow to ignore.

15 years really isn't that long. I remember SM1 like it was last week! I really don't care to see Spider-Man's origins told again and again and again and again and again and again before I die.

Why they didn't just do a Bond sort of deal here I don't know. I really don't care to see Green Goblin again 5 times in 5 different trilogies if that means they are going to skip out on other villains each go around. And, you know with each reboot they are going to re-use the main villains. The next Batman reboot will have Joker in it again, and again, and again, until we all die.

Billy, I think the one thing you're not right about is Pete being at Oscorp on his own volition. I might be wrong but in the trailer, there are other kids there in the lab that Gwen and Doc Connors are in and it looks like Pete wandered away from them. Why he wandered away is the true issue

I believe he did so after discovering the secret documents in his father's brief case, which is also shown in the trailer. It seems to me like Peter intentionally goes to Oscorp as an intern in order to find the answers for his questions.

I can be wrong, though.

Yeah I did notice the Oscorp badge he pulled out of the brief case unless that just so happens to be his badge..who knows..can't wait to find out

I was usually against a reboot as well, and wouldn't have mind a James Bond approach, but I love how in-depth Webb seems to go with his Movie. Raimi barely scratched the surface of Peter Parker and Spider-Man imo.

Alright, now let's get some screencaps in here to start really analyzing!

15 years isn't long...? Seriously? There are people on this board that are kids that will be parents by then.

I agree however, with the fact that this franchise doesn't have to be continuously rebooted. I'd love a continuation of the story.

If that's the case then that will suck. I don't want a movie about Peter being sad about his dead parents the entire time and going on a 2 hour detective mission to find out why his spy parents were murdered. That is about the lamest plot I have ever heard in a superhero movie.

Just for fun, I'll list similarities and differences between Raimi's trilogy and Webb's film storywise :)

Similar:
1. Peter Parker is a nerd and outcast
2. The film starts with him at school
3. Peter gets bitten by a radioactive spider by an accident
4. Peter becomes a superhero after the death of Uncle Ben
5. Spider-man can crawl walls and use spider's sense
6. The villain is related to Oscorp
7. Peter and the character that yet to become the main villain have connection prior to their transformations

Differences:
1. Raimi's spends only one act till Peter becomes a professional superhero, while Webb's will explore his development in the span of the entire film
2. Raimi's has Peter graduating from high school and landing a job right after the first act, while Webb's keeps Peter at school for the entire film
3. In Raimi's Peter has no interest in discovering the truth about his parents (they were mentioned only once actually), while Webb's gets in details in order to explain why Peter is who he is and thus includes the mystery of his parents' fate in the film
4. Raimi's Spider-man has a costume more faithful to comics, yet being too ideal. Webb's Spider-man has a costume more grounded and realistic (it's more possible for a ttenager to come up with it than in Raimi's)
5. In Raimi's MJ plays the role of love interest, combining characteristics of MJ, Gwen and Liz from comics at once. In Webb's it's Gwen, and a pretty faithful adaptation
6. Raimi's starts the story of Osborns, figuring as important characters, from the beginning. In Webb's they are replaced by the Stacy clan
7. Raimi's never really gave the space for Connors to shine. Webb's will develop him to the point of transformation in the Lizard
8. Raimi's has Spider-man being established pretty fast, while Webb's is going with slower, yet more detailed and explained route of who Peter was, who Peter is and who is soon to become
9. Raimi's dialogues, tone and characterization is similar to comics, while Webb's seems like being more down to our reality and natural
10. Raimi's is more focused on Peter's relationships with other characters, whereas Webb's is all about Peter and his inner self against the outside surrounding
11. Raimi's has organics, Webb's - web-shooters
12. Raimi's spends more time in his films, showing how Peter ends as Spider-man. Webb's will concentrate on how he begins as Spider-man
13. Raimi's Parker is almost flawless, too generous and idealist, almost never makes mistakes. Webb's is more real and tangible, the one who would surely make a few mistakes before understanding how to do right. He acts like typical teenagers of these days.
14. While Raimi's Peter is lead to the spider's bite by an accident, Webb's Peter takes himself to Oscaorp, motivated by his own intentions to discover something. To note again, the bite itself still remains accidential in both
15. In Raimi's the relationship between Ben and Peter has a greater value prior to Ben's death, while, as I believe, in Webb's Peter realizes Ben's significance only after the death

15 against 7.

One imprtant thing to note is that the major thing that distinguishes Webb's from Raimi's is Peter Parker himself. His personality, motives, arc and choices he makes. We all know the story of how he becomes Spider-man, but this doesn't come from Raimi's films. It comes from Amazing Fantasy #15. Moreover, what's critical here is how the path for Peter to superhero lies in this one. Surely, this time we have different characters, different tone and even different actions and reasons for Peter, which already sets a new vision for the film.

BTW, I hope I haven't missed anything. But, if you have any more ideas, please, speak out.

P.S. I'd like to apologize in case I have some errors in my post. I was typing very fast and English isn't my first language
Kind of a biased post, No?

The whole trailer looks cheap...

Is there any 1080p direct download link ? Tks

Dude 15 years go by so fast. Just think, if that trend continues, most of us will have likely seen Spider-Man's origins retold 5 times. That's bleh to me.

I apologize, it's actually every 10 years hahaha. Spider-Man 1 came out in 2002 and the reboot is coming out in 2012. I don't know where on Earth I got 15.

it may be too soon for a reboot but there are several stories that need to be told and with the film makers establishing a darker more foreboding universe this stories will carry more weight.

goblin kills gwen stacy - can't do this in sam's universe, goblin is dead
venom - can't do this in sam's universe, venom is dead
kraven's last hunt - totally doesn't suit the world sam built

I doubt I'd like them repeating more than one villain. Kraven and Chameleon/Mysterio seem most likely, along with Goblin in the final film.

I'd really love to see a sequel with Spider-man having hard time with general opinion about him, which will be well built by Jameson and Chameleon/Mysterio, playing as his double. Plus, Kraven chasing after him will only increase the scale of the challenge.

Agreed, though, I don't think it'll continue that way forever. If it does, we'll probably have a long break in between.

I love it, I have been very skeptical about this movie but from first glance I love what I'm seeing. Just wish the would have added a shot or two of Lizard but no complaints either way. 2012 can't come soon enough!

Kraven should have been in this movie. Lizard + Kraven was too perfect of a pairing and they missed that opportunity. Kraven coming to NYC to kill a superhero in a costume is kinda dumb. That is homicide.

"come at me bro"

Toby Maguire's (fake) twitter feed.

I hope there will be no more scenes of a crowd defending Spidey. Sure, maybe there are like 1 or 2 people who aren't stupid and realize he's a good guy, but Raimi took it too far with the whole Spidey parade.

They can't have a break, Sony has to keep making movies or they lose the rights. That is if Sony Pictures is still even around next year after the rumor that they might sell it off. Then Marvel would get it and they can do whatever they want.

If Marvel were to get this, I don't think they would play the reboot game like these other studios.

Wow, the trailer that was put up on Yahoo is even clearer than the one on movie-list.
