That's a difficult opinion to agree with, especially since my favorite all time comic book movie is Batman Begins, followed by X-Men: First Class and then The Dark Knight. Don't get me wrong, SM2 is fun, but...wow! Better than those 3? Phew.

Batman Begins is my favorite as well.

SM2? Great action, but still the same dull / cheesy Spidey.

Sorry.

I think S-M2 is better than those 3, yes. It's just my opinion though.

The Raimi films are relevant here. Especially when considering a new team could have been brought on board to take the franchise in any number of new directions, but we're being presented a rehash of the origin, which implies that the Spider-Man character has very limited story potential. It's as if you can't stray too far from the story of "how Peter Parker became Spider-Man", which is insulting to a character who has a 40+ year history.

That being the case, when a trailer pops up where almost everything seems superfluous, comparisons are natural.

I hate watching people review trailers. They all seem like snobs, lol.

I kind of prefer the new method of bringing in the director to do commentary for a trailer or actor(First class)

Favreau did one for Cowboys and Aliens

Dissection of a trailer to the extreme!

How about we all drop Raimi...no praising or dissing

I agree. I have never dissed him. I like the films. I just want to talk about the new one. I feel that sometimes the praise from certain posters, especially when out of context, unprovoked, and seemingly for no reason... it initiates it because some people don't agree. I just feel we should move on.

What drives me mad is:

Poster A: This looks good.

Poster B: It looked good in Raimi's too!!

It's just asking for it. I accept people will defend what they love. There's a guy around here who has me in his sig defending the old suit. But constantly going on about the awesomeness of Raimi is annoying, even to me, and I'm a fan of those films.

I'm taking deep breaths right now :woot:

I agree that Spider-Man 2 is quite a bit better than BB and FC. Both are fine and entertaining, but don't resonate on any other level at least not to me. I'd have to give the win to TDK, though.

Disappointed with the teaser. I like some of the decisions made, like the mechanical web-shooters, the assortment of characters (with Gwen Stacy, who hasn't really been explored very much on screen before), and even the costume. But when watching it I just couldn't shake the feeling of it being too soon, being such a quick renewal of the franchise. I couldn't help but think about the Raimi films and how recent they are. And I'm not exactly feeling Peter's most troubled characterization (complete with daddy issues) or the extended first-person sequence, which was groan-worthy.

It's not comparisons that are the problem. It's just post after post of unneeded praise that is frankly unwarrented in context to the conversation, and it's just cluttering up the boards. We get that you like them. I like them too. I just don't want to hear it every other post.

which movie is better than which is a matter of opinion.

Up until TDK, I felt Spider-man 2 was probably the best CB movie. TDK edged it out narrowly. And now with First Class, I would have to say that's a close 3rd behind SM2.

however, all 3 of those movies are different from each other, and I like them for different reasons.

all in my opinion, of course.......:oldrazz:

I like how if you are just a random guy sitting in the theater and this teaser comes on, you might not know it's Spider-man...

Seriously?

Why? Because no one is dancing?

If you weren't a rabid fan of the character then yeah, some people won't know its Spider-Man until the spider bite comes up, heck its edited in such a way that they might not know until the very end POV sequence.

However I think most people ears will prick up as soon as they hear "Mr. Parker" and "Peter lives with his Aunt and Uncle", especially considering Spider-Man's just as popular as Superman now. which is a superb thing :-)

This was in reply to a post where someone mentioned that organic/mechanical hybrid webs were in a draft of the 2002 Spider-Man and you told him to stop mentioning Raimi. I feel it's relevant.

But you're right that the praise is cluttering things up, but it's a board with passionate fanboys who are known to almost always be ******s, there is no order.

I have to agree with you on this. It's The Amazing Spider-man boards, not Raimi's Spider-man. Previous films were ok, imo, but they had some serious flaws and left a room for improvement, which now Webb & Co are taking advantage of to bring their own vision of how Spider-man should be implemented on big screen.

So, it's time we concentrate on talking about this film, instead of mentioning Raimi. Times have changed and nothing is going to be back. I liked Raimi and his cast & crew, but I am also fine with a new team making this movie.

We've spent like half of thread on talking about what general audience may think of a new SPider-man and how it's compared with Raimi's films. Forget about that! Lets focus on this film only and its story, wich will surely play a much great role in our final judgement than any of the BS about why it has a different visual style and what was the point of restarting the franchise.

Ah sorry, bud.

There should be order. There's a whole forum dedicated and all you get is 'But those boards are dead!'

Why, yes, they are dead, because you're posting in here.

The thing is, it doesn't have to be all or nothing. I'm not stupid and do understand that there will be comparisons--good and bad for each take of the character. But just throwaway posts about how much someone loves a certain director's take is just getting dull. Plus, it's the wrong place for it.

That's the point...

It's the "Oh, what's this...?" then "Oh, SPIDER-MAN!"

yes I know that, I was refering to the poster who said about the random guy at a theatre no knowing what it is. They will, by the end of the POV sequence if they didn't get it before then.

on the subject of the wall crawling, I really do hope they use the Bio Magnetism/Psionic Bond explanation from the comics, instead of the spikey barbed hair from the Raimi movies.
