I'm sure he sits up at night thinking, "Hmm, I want to ruin this character for this arc, to specifically piss off fans of said character."

Don't read to much into it or take it personally. Its just bad writing.

Before Bendis took over Avengers, Kang was arguably the Avengers top villain, and probably a top 10-15 villain in the marvel universe. Bendis took over, and didn't use him for the last 6 years.

Now he brings him back, and he jobs him hard to Ultron, Maestro, Old Man Tony, and to his own stupidity.

I don't think Bendis is twirling his metaphorical mustache, trying to figure out how to ruin my reading experience, but I do think he has very little respect for the history of the MU, and tends to pet characters (The Hood) over classic characters.

I don't really even care that much about Bucky Cap, but I hate when writers pull stuff like that. Anyway, I'm done with this book. It just doesn't flow right to me, and add in Rulk, I'll be saving my money.

Usually I'm a fan of JRJR...but there's something off about his Avengers work. It doesn't seem too up to snuff. Anybody think so, too?

Yeah, it clearly hasn't been his best work. The level of detail isn't very good. It looks like rushed.

I think that's because all Bendis has them doing is standing around talking. Poor JRJR is given the most boring stuff to draw. Seriously, that scene where the 5 or 6 Avengers talking to Ultron took, what, 5? 6 pages? Of standing there talking? Iron Man asking Ultron to throw the fight. JRJR drew 5 pages of 6 characters standing there while 2 of them were talking to each other. Boring.

I feel silly "defending" Bendis, but who's to say his little foreshadowing thing has anything to do with Brubaker's plans? Maybe it's about something he has planned in the Avengers. Either way, no details were given so I really don't see the problem.

Yeah it hasn't been good. Maybe cuz he's drawing this and Kick-Ass 2 (and who knows what else) at the same time. Eh, this latest ish was my last one anyway...

There's that. And Bendis' style doesn't have the level of action to have much of anything else besides people standing around talking. For THE AVENGERS? C'mon bro. Bail already like you did on Mighty Avengers and let someone capable of delivering a PROPER Avengers title write it. Keep you're pet New Avengers all you want. No, he's gotta write it all. And now RULK?! Seriously, step. away. from. the. keyboard.

Yeah, it's a bit depressing that we're in the middle of the Avengers' time in the spotlight, yet Bendis is making the main series so crappy. But it's still selling and I've still got Avengers Academy, so it doesn't bother me too much.

I wish Bendis would quit the main Avengers title too. He can keep on with New but that should be his share - he's had his turn, now it's time to let someone else have a go.

This just disappoints me because I keep wanting to think that Bendis is improving as a writer. I vehemently defended the first issue of this new run when it came out, yet since then nothing has happened to motivate me to continue paying attention. And this is a story arc with KANG, my favorite Marvel villain.

I don't think he's improving at all. In fact, he's going the other way. He's not getting better, he's getting lazier. He's complacent. He's got everyone at Marvel kissing his ass all the time. He's got no reason to improve. He's a top writer. His books are top sellers. He writes the top characters. Once you're at the top, the only way to go is down.
