Batman Returns kicked mucho ass. I loved the scene when Selina and Bruce dance and discover the truth.

Classic! i love it when catwomen asks if this means they have to start fighting...

the whole interaction scene between Bruce and Selina at the Ball is one of my faves of all time. from the moment he starts looking around for her to where she walks down the stairs, up to the revelation of their alter egos. everything was perfect.

Goofs for
Batman Returns (1992)
  • Continuity: The size of the window that Cobblepot looks out of.
  • Revealing mistakes: Water reflections on walls during the underwater scenes are obviously lights.
  • Revealing mistakes: The tombstones in the graveyard wobble when touched by the Penguin's coat (although this may be deliberate).
  • Continuity: Catwoman's high heels become foam rubber when doing her backflips.
  • Continuity: Bruce Wayne puts his coat on twice after opening the secret entrance to the Batcave in the fish tank.
  • Revealing mistakes: When the Penguin dies and his pets slide him into the water you can see the slide-board he was laying on slip out ahead of him under water.
  • Continuity: When Batman reveals his true identity at the end by tearing off his mask, the eye paint disappears right before the mask is removed.
  • Continuity: Catwoman's high heels are missing when she jumps on the bouncing-mat in the toy store.
  • Revealing mistakes: When Batman makes his first dramatic entrance to fight the clowns in his Batmobile, that clearly isn't snow being churned up by the wheels of his car.
  • Continuity: When the Penguin makes the shadow of a bird on the ceiling, he is lying on a bed with his hands directly above his chest. So where is the light that causes the shadow?
  • Revealing mistakes: When the Penguin is controlling the Batmobile, a mechanical lifting arm can be seen extending from the side of the building, moving a police car that the Batmobile smashes into.
  • Revealing mistakes: The snow floats on water.
  • Revealing mistakes: When the penguin drives the Batmobile remotely, the cars it smashes are damaged just before it hits them.
  • Crew or equipment visible: When Batman is shot off the roof by police, a hand is visible helping him onto the floor.
  • Revealing mistakes: When Batman is on the roof and his cape becomes a glider, you can see that the glider is separate from his cape as his cape falls off behind him. When he floats down the glider cape once again resembles his regular cape.
  • Continuity: When Bruce Wayne is being driven by Alfred at the end of the movie, the same car appears in the front and rear windows at least eight times.
  • Continuity: When Bruce plays the CD, the Penguin's dialogue is spoken differently than when it was first recorded in the Batmobile.
  • Continuity: The newspaper boy trying to sell Alfred the paper changes the price from 50 to 25 cents between lines.
  • Revealing mistakes: During Batman's rescue of Selina from the clown hostage-taker, the outline of the piece of building exterior that Batman knocks the clown out with can clearly be seen before he yanks on the wire.
  • Continuity: When Selina makes her Catwoman outfit she picks up a small pair of blue handled scissors, in the next shot she has a larger pair of pink scissors
  • Continuity: When The Penguin is in the Hall of Records, we see him through a window and it's snowing outside. In the next shot we see the Batmobile come around the corner and it's not snowing, but in a shot of Batman from inside the Batmobile, it's snowing again.
  • Continuity: Selena (Catwoman) engages Batman in a rooftop fight minutes after she destroys Shrek's Department store. However, Shrek's Department store - in perfect condition - can be seen behind Batman while he is hanging from Catwoman's whip after falling over a ledge.
even the best movies got mistakes...some of these are pretty funny!

This is also my favorite of the Batman movies,I watch it every year on Thanksgiving,I lock myself in my room, turn off the lights settle in to a turkey dinner, and watch it.

I mentioned this on another board but my favorite scene in Batman Returns was when Batman(somehow)put that bomb on the tatooed strongman and knocked him down that manhole and he blew up. Makes me laugh every time I watch it. I never had a problem with Batman killing. Its not like he was "The Punisher" and was killing every bad guy he ran across. Batman only did it when it was absolutely necessary. These are my favorite Batman movies in order:

1.Batman Returns
2.Batman(1989)
3.Batman Begins

Batman Forever and Batman & Robin were a disgrace!

Isn't this the Batman Returns thread?

We can post whatever we want pertaining to Batman Returns.

I liked Batman Returns when it was first out but as I've gotten older I've noticed so many things about it that are... suspect.

How did the Penguin get the plans to the Batmobile? What the hell was the deal with that Penguin army? I'm sorry, that was ridiculous. The "Bat-missle" bugged me, too.

I loved the ski-boat, though, and Michelle Pfieffer was terriffic as Catwoman. Although the thing about having "nine lives" was kind of awful. And where did she get all her badassitude from after falling off a roof? I can understand that it would change her personality, but where'd she get all those SKILLS? It takes more than self-confidence to be able to flip around like the "nimble little minx" that she is. :)

She was great, though. Really really great. She was the definition of sexy, I think. I think in the dictionary it says, "sex-y, (secks-ee), adj, 1.Michelle Pfieffer in 'Batman Returns', (1992)."

As well it should.

As always Keaton gave a great performance, but had precious little to do. I think a movie about Bruce and Selena (and their alter egos) alone would have been a great movie. It didn't really need Pengy or Walken in it, and I think the presence of so many major characters, while making for interesting interactions, really didn't give any of the characters the time they deserved onscreen.

And I really do wish that Billy Dee Williams had been on hand. I missed Harvey Dent in BR, and Billy Dee would have been a MUCH better Two-Face than Tommy Lee Jones in BF. Hands down.

Anyway, I have to put "Batman Returns" farther down the list than most of you do. I like it, but I don't think it's great by a long shot. It's only better than "Forever" because it takes itself seriously where Forever didn't. "Returns" is more fun than BATMAN '89, but B'89 is much, MUCH better than Returns, if only because B'89 at least makes sense.

I know that there is a 2 disc version of BR coming out with the 4 disc set...but will you be able to buy the 2 disc version of BR by itself? or would you have to buy the entire set. Also is there any talk about a BR directors cut?

I must agree. BR was indeed my favorite Batman movie. With Begins coming in second.

yes, they will be sold in the set and individualy. i dont think there is going to be a BR directors cut because there were only afew minor moments cut in editing. so theres nothing to really add.
