I wouldn't overlook JMM.

The guy has given Pacman the toughest fights in his career. Varying from personal opinion, JMM has beaten Pacman already.
JMM is a lock HOF'er and an ATG in imo, but I don't think he can beat Pac this time around and yeah he did beat Pac the two previous times.

He his my favorite boxer of his/my generation, but I think Pac has outgrown JMM, also JMM has seen way too many wars and gotten older.

I would love for JMM to beat Pac again, but I don't see it happening this time around.

What FCVIper?! You are a Marquez supporter for saying that! Don't you know despite what your eyes saw, your friends say, media outlets report, and other posters say, Paq won those fights and if you say differently, something is wrong with you?! :whatever:

I don't listen to what my friends, media, or posters say. I been watching boxing since I were a kid, and I love the sport soo much that I began a hobby for me to judge/count round in every round I see in boxing, in every match I watched almost every weekend to this day.

Marquez cleary won more rounds in those two fights with Pac, yes JMM got knocked down 4 times in those fights, but he got up and out boxed Pac like no other boxer has done to Pac before. Ever.

I don't see JMM beating Pac in the 3rd fight, but imo he did beat Pac in the last two.

I was actually being sarcastic and thought it was obvious. Just responding when a poster said you had to be a JMM supporter if you thought he won the fight. But I totally agree with you. JMM beat Paq twice and now that Manny is roided up, no way will he beat him now.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. does not plan on taking another 16-month vacation from the boxing ring, like he did after easily outpointing Shane Mosley in May 2010.

Instead, Mayweather, who knocked out Victor Ortiz on Sept. 17, will make a relatively hasty return: May 5 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, adviser Leonard Ellerbe told ESPN.com on Wednesday night.

Mayweather's opponent has not been determined but Ellerbe said, "We're looking to make the biggest fight possible and everyone knows what that fight is, the little fella."

Ellerbe was, of course, referring to Manny Pacquiao. The welterweight champions and the top two pound-for-pound fighters in the world have been on a collision course for years. However, negotiations have fallen apart over drug testing protocol.

Pacquiao is set to fight Juan Manuel Marquez for the third time Nov. 12 at the MGM Grand and is a heavy favorite.

"Floyd made it very clear that he wants to give the fans the biggest fights that are out there. He wants to stay active," Ellerbe said. "We're going to do everything in our power to make the biggest fight out there for the fans and we all know what the fight is."

Mayweather, a five-division champion, has fought only five times since 2007.

Ellerbe said Mayweather informed him and fellow adviser Al Haymon on Wednesday of his decision to return in May.

"We had a discussion, Floyd, me and Al," Ellerbe said. "Floyd made it very clear to us what he wanted to do. He told us he is looking to make the biggest fight that is out there and to make it in May."

Ellerbe also informed Golden Boy promoter Richard Schaefer, who does not have a contract with Mayweather but has promoted his last five bouts, of the plan.

"I'm very excited that the sport's biggest pay-per-view star is going to be back on May 5," Schaefer told ESPN.com. "We have informed the pay-per-view industry and I have the arena on hold. I'm excited to continue my relationship with Floyd and his team. It's always fun to work with Floyd."

Although May 5 is seven months away, Mayweather's fights have typically been promoted for several months in advance of the fight. The first weekend of May is traditionally a weekend for a major pay-per-view fight.

"We have to plan any time you're the biggest star in the sport," Ellerbe said. "You have to plan in advance because his fights are events. In order to maximize the exposure you want to plan as far in advance as you can to make your event as big as possible. May 5, that is the date Floyd is fighting on. We have secured May 5 at the MGM. Floyd is excited to make his return."

Mayweather (42-0, 26 KOs), who turns 35 in February, reclaimed one of his old welterweight titles with his knockout of Ortiz in a fight that Golden Boy said generated 1.25 million buys and $78.44 million in domestic pay-per-view revenue. The buys tied the fight for third place all-time among non-heavyweight pay-per-views and gave Mayweather his third consecutive 1 million-plus pay-per-view fight and fourth in his last five bouts.

Although Mayweather plans to fight, he still faces several legal cases. He was acquitted last week of misdemeanor harassment charges alleging that he had threatened the lives of two security guards in the gated community in Las Vegas where he lives. But he faces a Friday trial date for a misdemeanor battery complaint alleging he poked another homeowner association security guard in the face during a different confrontation over parking tickets last November. Mayweather has pleaded not guilty.

In the most serious case, Mayweather faces four felony and four misdemeanor charges stemming from an alleged domestic dispute with his former girlfriend, who is the mother of two of his children.

Mayweather and "Making Big Fights" shouldn't be used in the same sentence.

Shut the hell up, and stop referencing me in your posts like a child.

sup·port [suh-pawrt, -pohrt] verb (used with object) 1.to bear or hold up (a load, mass, structure, part, etc.); serve as a foundation for.

You are upholding the idea (or opinion) that Marquez defeated Manny Pacquiao twice, and thus supporting a supposed Marquez victory with your posts. Therefore, you are supporting Juan Manuel Marquez, or, in other words, you are a Marquez supporter. This is how our English language works, and this was my only claim toward you.

HBO replayed the Pacquiao-Marquez contests this weekend, and I rewatched and ended up with the same scorecards I always do: 113-112 and 114-113, both for Manny Pacquiao. That is the same as seven rounds to five for Marquez in the first fight, and six for each man in the second. The four knockdowns for Pacquiao gave him the victory both times on my cards, so I'll reiterate my point: Calling either Pacquiao-Marquez fight a "robbery" is hyperbole.

For anyone in this thread who isn't a damn fool:

Why the hell aren't you all talking about that Kirkland-Angulo war from Saturday night?! That first round has Ring Magazine's Round of the Year award all locked up.

I heard there was 2 knockdowns in one round? Haven't saw it yet.

Yup. And not just knocked down, but both men were in serious danger of having the referee jump in and stop the fight on account of how badly hurt they were.

Yes the Kirkland fight was amazing.

Assassin......relax. My gawd, you really are way to sensitive. I didn't insult you in anyway to invoke that kind of response.

I would go after Assassin over the JMM-Pacman bouts... but not tonight.

RIP Joe. One of the greatest HW champions of all time. It's a goddamn sad start to a new day. :csad:

RIP Smoking Joe.

I wouldn't doubt it. He'd have a flashlight and shovel in hand and go to the grave sites of Gatti and Corrales in hopes of a rematch with them before setting foot in the ring with Paquiao or Sergio Martinez.

RIP to Joe Frazier, greatest left hook in the history of boxing. In this era of primadonas who don't make fights because of ridiculous demands, accusations and that coast to boring decision victories, Joe was a product of a bygone era when truly great fighters fought each other, anyplace, anytime and made exiting fights.

There are two things I wish boxing would implement:

1) Winner takes all the pot money
2) Boxing committee makes the booking, not the boxers themselves

I don't think its so much Paq that Mayweather has a problem with, its that freakin Arum. He seems to have nude pics of Paq because he seems to not be able to piss without having to ask Arum's permission.

It should be a league like the UFC, have equal purses with the winner taking the win bonus and also have win, KO of the night, etc. bonuses. It would cut out all this BS that they're doing.

I guarantee if a guy like Dana White was running a boxing league, two things would've happened, Mayweather and Paquiao would've fought a long ass time ago or Mayweather would've gotten cut and been fighting for small organizations.
