Coldplay Sux said:Why is the studio hiding this guy? I don't quite understand why we haven't been given an interview or press conference to introduce the cast, especially Routh, to fans. When an unknown is cast in a role that is very popular, it's common for studios to allow him to do interviews and when a film of this large a budget gets under way, it's very common for the cast and director to have a press conference. I was watching a fluff show a few weeks ago and they had clips from a press conference announcing principal photography on the sure-to-be-lame "V for Vendetta" (and that's from the same studio). WB also had a big press conference to announce Daniel Radcliffe for Harry Potter. And of course that talentless whelp Hayden Christensen was schlepped around to the fluff shows to do personal interviews.
So I ask, what are they hiding? If Bryan Singer is so misguided on this film that he believes audiences won't believe Routh as Superman if they get any advance look at him or his actual personality, then this film is probably in bigger trouble than I have suspected (don't get me wrong, I like Singer and initially believed that he could do a great job on this film if he did an original film, but he's said and done many things that make me feel otherwise).
I realize that Routh and Singer are probably very busy and don't have time to do a press conference or interviews, but to have absolutely zip from Routh leads me to believe that the studio is covering up the fact that the guy has no charisma whatsoever.

You choose to invest a thought in rumors, but ignore cold hard facts and interviews with the Director and exclusive footage. It blows my mind what you choose to see and hear...oh well, one less person to stand in front of me on opening day.
PS. You ever thing the whole idea of Routh's unveling is meant to be a surprise? You don't think the name Superman is enough to keep this project at the top of 'Movies To Watch out For' lists for 06? Trust me, Brandon Routh will be a household name, in due time. It just isn't time yet.

It makes me sad to think that all those people throughout history that have fought and strove for freedom, respect, tolerance, and acceptance, have largely done so in vain.
It's a pity how bravery is made so easily impotent by ignorance. Gay or straight, does it matter. He acts -- that is his job. To act. Honestly, when will people start judging the merits, and not the traits.
What annoys me the most is that if this were us discussing Routh being a jew, or say black and we started throwing around deragotry words predicated upon nothing more than homophobia or some defunk right-wing fundamentalist ideology, the person would be banned for be derisive and offensive. Somehow, with homosexuality, it's different. Some people say homosexuality is disgusting. To me, it is how people treat, view, and judge it that is more disgusting to me.

Sad thing is, as much as I hate to cut them a break and be generous, I venture to assume that these people aren't neccessarily homophobes or heterosexists, but just are so petty as to vindicate their supposed betrayl by Singer in not casting Welling that they stoop to such a low level. However, being that they are willing to use such a low level may actually prove my generosity largely undeserved.
And the sad thing is, I hear people say, "Oh there human..." It's ironic, especially on a SuperMAN board, that I hear such a thing. Why is it that humanity itself has become an excuse for failure, mediocrity, and mistakes, rathern than a reason for success, excellence, and wisdom? I just don't buy "they're human". Too me, if they were such, they wouldn't say so. Something is defined I believe by its greatest attainment, these people largely fall short.
