First Avenger The Official Captain America Critic's Review Thread - Part 1

Since when does a movie need to be great to get a positive review? I haven't seen a great movie in theaters since May of 2008. But I've seen many good ones since then.

I was kinda suprised by that. Funny that he gave Thor an A, while his fellow Sun-Times columnist gave it 1 star, and he gives cap a C, and Ebert gives it 3/4.

In fairness he gave this a better score than Green Lantern.

Seems like a "gets it or doesn't get it" type of film. Not that you just don't get it if you dislike the film, but rather in regards to Captain America as a character.

That really seems to be the problem. People think all heroes need to be either brooding or a smart ass.

Yeah, it's like some people they want the characters personality to be all drama, when Cap is just a good guy. Accept it.

Honestly don't see Rotten Tomatoes moving this past 70% today.

They'll keep it in the 60% range for people who log in thinking about checking the midnite showings tonight.

Yeah, that and the parts with 98lb Steve, seem to be capturing alot of positive attention in the reviews.

Darn! Just beat me to it LOL! At first I thought it was going to be a borderline negative review, but... wow! The guy really liked it. I'd go so far as to say he sort of kinda loved it a little.

The negative reviews of this movie have been a joke. They clearly expected something else in this movie that never was going to be there. Captain America isn't Tony Stark or Bruce Wayne. He is a soldier, not an eccentric.
