First Avenger The Official Captain America Critic's Review Thread - Part 2

I'm really glad the public has embraced the film . It seems like the critics who may have bashed the film because it was a comic book flick were pretty much drowned out by everyone else who liked the film. Hopefully GL will be considered an abberation and the talk of comic book fatigue will fad for a bit.

You broke out into the chorus of Lady in Red during that scene didn't you?

Don't feel bad. I did too.

Someone should email RT about their mistake. Red Skull has no tolerance for failures.

Yet they're dragging their feet on Certifying it. Typical. Probably hoping another negative will come in to knock it back down even though the last 14 in a row have all been positive.

Okay, why isn't this "certified fresh" yet?! It's been out a week, it's at 75%, and it shows no sign of falling down. We're at about 200 reviews or so, now. Do they think there are a ton of reviewers just waiting to knock it before Cowboys and Aliens hits, or something?

Jeez.

does it matter???
You liked the movie
we're still gonna get Avengers
we're still gonna get Cap 2

so why does it matter what RT has to say about the film?

I'm just proud that this movie went from 33% to 75% and took a s*** on anyone who thought it couldn't.

Damn, you just can't keep a good MARVEL HERO down!

RT 75% despite all the best efforts of those WB stooges.

Yeah, I see they are reluctant to give the certified fresh rating. We should e-mail them and protest!

Roach, firstly it's a matter of pride. Secondly it symbolizes CAP's ability to defeat all the forces thrown against him. Thirdly it may help with some of the GA who check on the site to decide whether they will see it or not.

1) Pride in a movie you had nothing to do with other than watch????
2) I think you are reading into it
3) I dont know anyone I'd refer to as General Audiences who check RT.

Here in my town, friends and where I work (movie theater) likes the movie very much up until the end. Nobody likes the ending.

I guess you don't follow sports teams? I personally find the statistical aspects fun when comparing against other movies that I like. Cap is also my favorite superhero so i'll take any info regarding him.

Rotten Tomatoes has Captain America now listed as Certified Fresh.:yay:

Surfer

There is still a long way to go in terms of reviews, they usually end up with at least 200. So on a positive note, it has time to improve but also time to do worse as well. :O

Well the last 2 or 3 just came in from Australia and they were all positive.

Stupid that they waited so long to certify it fresh.

75% & 6.8 avg pretty similar to Thor on 77% & 6.7. So was really only that initial batch of reviews that wasn't positive.

The only one that suprises me is Richard Roeper. He's very supportive of the genre, unless it's obvious crap like Green Lantern.

Well, the first reviews to come out were actually positive, too, just not the first ones posted on Rotten Tomatoes for some reason (even though at least two of the first positives were Top Critics there). And Cap actually ended up with a much higher Metacritic grade than Thor, too. So I think it's safe to say reviews were all around positive.

Cap also did considerably better with Top Critics than Thor did(76% and 66% respectively). Audience reaction for both was closer(80% approval & 3.9/5 for Thor and 84% approval & 4/5 for Cap)
