The Official Contest of Marvels 3 Discussion Thread

Because an Avenger could use their computers in the Mansion to learn about their opponent.

Mr. Sinister can use his lab to develop bio-weapons.

Forge can use his lab to create new weapons.

Johnny Storm can use the time to work on his car and look at pictures of hot women. :p

1. IT's not a matter of just turning something on...it has never been like that. You have ALWAYS had to show that you have some type of technological know-how to do this (or you would be a member that has access to that building). This is high tech weaponry and gadgets, you think typing "attack Templar" would be sufficient without having any clearance or capability to hack into the system?
2. You can't compare the two, at least you have the abilities to do it in the way I show, this way is friggin cheap as hell. "Oh please building can you help me with the big bad Templar."

One way you have earned the right to use it in your argument, the other is just is just nonsense. But I am tired of arguing about this. Good luck Franklin, I am sure you will put up a creative, crazy last minute argument I won't have time to dispute.

Well, I think we've all tried the "hail-mary" tactic of winning a match when we're faced with crazy odds. It's happened every season. (In the first season, didn't we have one of the characters being impaled on top of a building in some crazy fashion?) One thing I remember about your Season 1 debates, Powder, is coming up with something out of left field to defeat a character....I'm not sure you ever conceded a match, even if it was clear that your character had no chance of winning it.

This is the beauty of this game; reading the debates, seeing something come out of left field, and just having fun with it. (It's like with my Avalanche vs. Thing match; I knew there was NO WAY I could have won that; but, I gave it the only thing I could think of.)

And, I don't think this is a last-minute thing being thrown out there. As I said, you still have over 24 hours (which, we haven't even reached the end of opening argument time limit), and I said before a few days back that TT going up to Roberta is up to the voter's judgement. I just wanted to make sure there was a clarification about Roberta, for the good of both debaters when voters are trying to decide the outcome of this match.

Yeah I threw out hail mary's but there within the confines of the game. Asking someone/something else to defeat your opponent is something I have NEVER done, and I can swear to that. You say the place is unnocupied, so wouldn't this include Roberta as she is AI.

It's like when we had Doom's Castle, and someone tries to take control of the Doombots. They are part of the castle, and Roberta is just as much a part of the Baxter Building as the Fantasiticar would be....maybe even more so. She's actually built into the place.

Like take control by how...using their powers/abilities...technological abilities....

or did they ask the doombots to help them?

Because to me this is a BIG difference.

Roberta is part of the building's computer systems. If Ben asks Roberta to turn on the security and help in the fight, it's obviously going to happen. No technical know-how required because Reed would know Ben doesn't have any.

Does Texas Twister get the same consideration? That's what you two are going to have to debate about.

I'm pretty sure it was debated that they could get the doombots to help them. I can't quite remember in what capacity; but, I do remember someone having to dispute that debate.

Also, I remember one debate on Ego, The Living Planet, saying that a person's powers would then force Ego to battle the other character, as that character would then be seen as a type of infection.

I have been arguing that point for two pages now. He is obviously not a member of the FF like Thing. He is just a hero, begging for help. He didn't earn the ability to get access. He is just asking for help from someone who is NOT in this competition. To me that is automatically against the rules. But whatever.

I see Roberta as part of the Baxter Building, not as someone not in the competition. (I don't even see her as a person, just as an extension of the building's systems.)

I'm not saying I agree or diagree with Twister getting to use her, just that he can try. But Franklin's going to have to convince the voters he can.

Hah! I'm pretty sure that was my idea. Don't recall who was in the match or if it won, but that tactic sounds awfully familiar.

As for the TT/Templar debate. I understand the clarification and return opinion, but keep the debate itself in the actual thread. I don't want anything spoken here by anyone not Powder or Franklin to influence a vote.

I must say my debates are not all that exciting...not much meat to them.

I just want to confirm if both characters are mine it is my choice who goes through.

Most definitely! We still do a vote, and I wanted to present both characters and their powers to everyone; because, I think it's a real neat match-up....possibly the best of the week, in my opinion. But, regardless, I have it down that Sersi is the one advancing.

Ok, it looks like everyone has presented their opening arguments...I'll be opening up voting tomorrow afternoon, after 12:00 PM PST. We can actually have voting hold off for a while longer; but, PM me if you feel the need to get in any last words. (Try to have it finished, though, for everyone's convenience before then. And, if you need a little more time, let your opponent know that you need a little time to respond to something said. Let's not have any last minute debates in the final hour that surprises someone with new information not provided before.)

And, if I do see a last minute debate without a rebuttal, I'll do my best to hold off for a while, trying to contact the other person.

Yes well I had to lose one of them and honestly I could not see myself taking out Sersi who is more adaptable.

I find it really funny how both Albion's are fighting this week.

Also, WitchKing, don't forget you'll have to let me know which character you want to advance. Don't forget, one advantage you'll have is looking forward to who the next opponent will be, and choose accordingly. (For example, if Victor wins the match, you might not want a character who is made of metal, like Alkhema.) You can even let me know, if _____ wins their match, I want _____ to advance; but, if the other character wins, I want my other character to advance.

haha...I was looking at the Groot vs. Sandman match. Whoever wins, loses next round. Good God, I wouldn't want to face Sersi with such a character, like Groot.

That is what i was counting on. Transmutation will be key here.

I don't quite agree with you. It really is a question of the matchup. Otherwise there is no way Juggernaut would have gone down against Warlock.

Warlock isn't a Number 12 Seed. He's a sliver of one of the most powerful races in the galaxy. His battle vs the Impossible Man nearly destroyed NY.
