Ok, I sent out PM's to everyone who needs to give an opening debate, except for WitchKing. I'll let JH tell him when he sees him that he has four matches that need debating.

I have a question. I've been reading the debates, seeing who still needs to get theirs in, and while reading the opening debate to JH's Elektra vs. Crusader match, wondered the following: In the final issue of Secret Invasion, doesn't all of the heroes who have been abducted return, including Elektra? So, wouldn't this be Elektra after just returning from being captured?

At the the time when we were considering the character we had discussed that her point of capture was unsure. We see it happen in flash back but we don't know when so we don't know for certain what she would know or wouldn't know. I guess it at after Enemy of the State but I'm not sure to be honest.

However, it doesn't really change anything in the debate so I don't care if she's right after her release.

I haven't even seen DaVinci Code.

Nore have I. I didn't see it back when it came out because of all the controversy. Now I wouldn't mind it but I'd rather read the book first. I found it at Half Priced Books for $1 but I don't want to read it until I read Angels & Demons first. So I'm just looking for that one, then after I read them I'll watch the movies.

Yep, in powers it wouldn't change anything. It's just in knowing the person is a skrull might, which could change the dynamic of the match. (BTW, I take it since we know Crusader is a skrull, it's known to the opponent, also. That's told to them, right?)

The movies are ok...it's just you see them, kind of enjoy them, then easily forget about them. Critics really don't like them, though. Same with those Nicolas Cage movies...they just don't like these movies that are designed to have the lead character following clue after clue...and, they seem to be clues that only they could figure out.

This second movie was better than the first; except for one scene near the end, that was a bit over-the-top. (It sure doesn't help when you've seen such a great movie, like Star Trek, the week before.)

Ok, opening debates have to be up by this evening. Powder got his up, and Harlekin said he'd have his Puma debate up tonight.

Sorry I am late. I had to wait to get a decision on Bloodwraith and for Sunday/Monday I have been moving some things in storage around. I spent 11 hours yesterday on it and my back is killing me now, so if I seem agitated I am just in pain right now and it is making me moody.

No, no one knew Crusader was a Skrull until Delroy shot him in the very last issue of the Initiative tie-in. So unless Elektra has Initiative clearance (which she doesn't) there's no way for her to know. That's why I don't think it really matters regarding if she's before or after her abduction. Either way, she has no idea who or what Crusader is.

Being that I no longer own the Mekanix mini that debuted Shola Inkose, I decided to try a google search to see if I can find scans of his awsome feats. In stead.... I found me and Ahura?!

But, when our opponents get our name and description, what are they getting? For example, when my character gets the name, "Ghost Rider," do I get "Ghost Rider" or "Ghost Rider - Johnny Blaze?" Or, when I get "Nightcrawler," do I get "Nightcrawler" or "Nightcrawler - Age Of Apocalypse?"

I thought we got what was written...so the opponent would see "Crusader - Skrull."

Ok, the time for Opening Debates is over. There is still under 24 hours left to get up rebuttals.

I always took the second part of the title (Skrull in this example) simply as a means to help us tell characters apart for when they come up in the brackets, etc. I never considered it to be read by other characters. The thought never even came to mind.

Perhaps we should start putting identifiers in parenthesis. We get to see those parts to help us figure out who are character is fighting, but our character only gets the unparenthesized name.

So if I'm fighting Captain America (Bucky), I know which Cap my character is facing. But my character would only see Captain America. (Bad example since the costume gives away which version.)

Ok, that's good for clarification. I don't think it's a question that ever came up; but, I believe we all went under the assumption in previous seasons it was known. (We just haven't had skrulls like this season.) I know people who fought Ghost Rider seemed to know which version; but, from now on, we go with the understanding people only get the name of the character, but not their true identity or version.

How in the heck did I miss that I had Electro from Frankin? I remember reading the post. I just got my pm about it. Oh well, at least I know about the other two for future matches.

This is strange, I had done one search on Shola in the past

Ok, I guess we need a ruling. Two opening debates were given after the time had expired in the stated time. By our rules, they should be stricken from the contest; but, I want to make sure what JH and Wiegeabo have to say before I make a ruling.

Unfortunately, rules are rules. The two opening debates given within 24 hours of voting should not be considered. It doesn't give enough time for their opponants to fully debate them in fairness.
