The Official Dark Avengers Thread

I saw someone's comment somewhere (I think on that Newsarama article) that that is actually the signature of sorts for the artist who drew the images...

Isn't that the way Acuna signs his work?

Oh God, if Marvel puts Doom, Namor, Loki and Emma on a team and calls them "Avengers," I think I'll actually be done with Marvel. I might be able to swallow a miniseries where they stop a threat or something, but if it's some kind of ongoing project, I'm out.

Why would they advertise mutant characters..Gambit even...before Spider-Man?
Probably because Gambit is going to be in teh Wolverien movie so he's getting a little extra attention right now. :) If this is a sort of smoky nior kind of thing, he'd fit right in, really.

Heh...no matter though, the idea of Marvel Noir style mini sounds very cool.

If only Miller would right it.

I can see it now:

"I'm the GD Spider-Man!"
LOL, it'd probably be awesome, too. I love his stuff.

That makes sense actually. Although don't get me wrong, I'm not arguing. I'm one of the five Gambit fans out there, so anytime he gets some mainstream attention, I love it. In fact, part of my love for Carey's Legacy title has been because Gambit was a part of it.

Imagine Marvel characters with All-Star Batman writing. It would be comedic gold.

Marvel Noir sounds interesting.

I wonder who'll be replacing Bendis on Mighty Avengers.

Carey's doing a great job of developing the long-neglected X-Men characters right now. Legacy's doing a wonderful job of showing me new sides of Charles Xavier, and Rogue's newfound duality with Mystique inhabiting her mind was introduced in the last issue, plus he's got Manifest Destiny dealing with Iceman, and X-Men Origins: Beast, while utilizing a really goofy, clichéd plot to do it, gave me a nice retelling of some of the formative events of Beast's adolescence.

Actually Newsarama has an update that says they were wrong about that. The comic isn't being canned at issue 20, but that Bendis is off of it at issue 20.

Agreed 100%. Carey seems to be one of the best things to happen to the franchise in a while. I never would have though that one of my most looked forward too comics would be Xavier centric....but here we are. He made the man interesting, and finally did something different with Sinister after all these years.

I could've lived without seeing Miss Sinister, actually. That was my one problem with the arc. I kind of liked the idea of Sinister's consciousness as a psychic parasite. I know the idea's been done before with the Mummudrai and Malice and the Shadow King, but it's still a pretty cool idea for a villain.

I wouldn't have liked that for the reasons you stated actually. X-fans would have been crying foul that Carey ripped off Shadow King.

I thought it would have been cool if Sinister continued living inside Xavier and made it where he had to constantly battle Sinister to keep him from taking over. Problem is, that has been done with Cyclopalypse already after the Twelve.

So having Sinister inhabit the mind of a female is an alternative I can live with. Especially that given time, he'll be back to his old self again.

Whoever it is, I can't see them giving it to someone that isn't a decently high profile writer.

What's the problem? Villain titles have always been a part of Marvel.

Not to mention DC isn't guilt free. Villains United anyone?

Wait and read before you judge. I'd love a new Villain Title.

I would love a new villians title...I would not like them putting Emma, who hasn't been a villian in years, on the team.

But Emma IS a villain. I never bought this "Grow young and be a good guy" crap. It didn't work for Magneto and it's not working for her. She was better when she was 15 years older and a villainous *****. Now she's just boring.

He said if it was under the "Avengers" title, and that assumes taht they'd be acting as, essentially, heroes.

Somebody has got to get rid of the Skrulls who are occupying New York and it ain't gonna be Tony Stark. :D

Actually I find Emma more interesting now than I ever did when she was in the Hellfire Club. One of my favorite aspects of the X-books right now is the relationship between Scott and Emma. It a much more interesting and fun relationship than when he and jean were together.

Also, it seems that Mighty Avengers will be ending after issue #20 and will be replaced by Dark Avengers.

just an FYI, Mighty Avengers is not ending at issue #20, Bendis is leaving at #20. :yay:
