Fantasy The official Disney Classics Live-Action Remakes

Condon is directing and basically taking inspiration from the 1991 flick and the Broadway musical. If so, Alison Brie for Belle. Do it.

I am still waiting for a good remake of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. It is one of my favorite books and the 1954 movie is good but dated. I'd love to see Guillermo Del Toro direct this with some major stars in it like Russell Crowe, Brad Pitt, Christopher Waltz, or something like that.

Angelina Jolie is interested in making a sequel to Maleficent, considering the success of the film, i guess it's a safe bet that it will happen, but "when" is the real question, Disney seems to wait a loooong time between sequels, only exception's when their sequels are shot back to back, otherwise, they'll take 3 years in the very least.

I actualy think that they have more fitting properties they could adapt, expecialy ones that aren't as well regarded, like Sword in the Stone, it was pretty much an adaptation in the first part of the Tetralogy "The Once and Future King", Disney making a live action series of movies centered around Arthur could be an interesting idea.

Another one of their animated features that deserves a proper adaptation is this

Disney has lost Narnia, so why not go with the Darker Chronicles of Prydain series of books? As the series goes on, the characters actualy grow psychologicaly, would be interesting to see something like this in a modern film series, where it seems the characters rarely evolve.

The Sorcerer's Aprentice idea of taking a Fantasia short was actualy interesting, but they didn't actualy use those ideas, chosing something more generic instead of going with some of the most iconic imagery. In a few years, i think they should give it a shot again, with Mickey's hat being used this time and in the center of the marketing, as well as things from other Fantasia shorts, probably with this guy as the overall main villain

Really like that live action Jungle Book as a kid.

Haven't seen Alice in Wonderland or The Sorcerer's Apprentice…I'm tempted to check those out…more so Apprentice over AiW…Watch or pass for either of those?

My dream remake…Ursula!

‘Chronicles of Prydain’ Movie in the Works at Disney (EXCLUSIVE)
Dave McNary said:
Disney has acquired movie rights to the fantasy series “The Chronicles of Prydain” and is in early development on the project, Variety has learned.

The five novels by Lloyd Alexander, based on Welsh mythology, were published annually from 1964 to 1968 and followed the protagonist Taran from youth to maturity. He’s an assistant pig-keeper but initially dreams of being a grand hero.

The books are set in the magical land of Prydain, which resembles ancient Wales and is engaged in a series of battles with Annuvin, the Land of Death.

Other key characters are the young princess Eilonwy, the bard Fflewddur Fflam and a wild creature named Gurgi.

The books are “The Book of Three,” “The Black Cauldron,” “The Castle Llyr,” “Taran Wanderer” and “The High King.” The final book won the John Newbery Medal, given by the Association for Library Service to Children.

Sam Dickerman is the Disney executive on the project, which has not yet been set with a producer, director or writer.

The first two books in the series served as the basis for Disney’s 1985 animated fantasy movie “The Black Cauldron,” in which a Horned King sought to secure an ancient magical cauldron that would aid him in his desire to conquer the world.

The film, directed by Ted Berman and Richard Rich, was the first Disney animated film to include computer-generated imagery. The movie, which carried a $44 million budget, failed to generate significant interest, with a $21 million domestic gross, and was not distributed as a home video release for more than a decade.

What Could Have Been: Disney And Pixar
The Black Cauldron was originally much grimmer and graphically violent. Most of the scenes—including a man being sliced in two in silhouette and the Horned King decapitating one of his henchemen—haven't been seen outside of rumor, but the infamous "man being dissolved by the undead" scene has managed to make it to Youtube in some form.

The Black Cauldron is the holy grail of missed opportunities at Disney. If they successfully adapt The Chronicles of Prydain in live-action then that's a nice redemption story.

About time they announced something that could actualy be improved with a remake. Hoping they won't be afraid of letting the film be as dark as the animated one was, though this time, they better make it closer to the book series.

You know who would be a good live action version of Princess Tiana?

Alice Keys.

No idea who could play the Prince though

When I read the title I thought that this is like a wish list from IMBD. But then I realized that more than half of the movies have been announced and have names attached to, which is kinda scary.

I used to think that a live action Frozen will be released in its 20th or 25th anniversary, but now a 2023 release seems more likely since Disney will run out of classic animation soon.

I don't mind the remakes Disney is doing right now, but at this rate they need to stop after 2018. I don't want an Aladdin or The Lion King remake.

Aladdin will be tricky but I hear the guy who plays the genie on broadway is amazing and so maybe they'll get him to play the character in the movie. Lion King, I just really wish they would have left alone but hey it's guaranteed money.

Looking forward to Aladdin and Lion King but I think Disney should slow down, They are going to burn through the heavy hitters within the next 4 or 5 years, then what?Apart for Aladdin, most of these films don't have sequel or franchise potential like Star Wars or Marvel.Alice 2 box office should be a big warning sign. The stories have a one off nature and the novelty factor would be long gone. I expect big drops for the Sleeping Beauty and Jungle Book sequels

Can't help thinking that one of the reasons Disney is doing this is because kids don't want to watch 2D animated movies any more, so they're making sure the kids will still watch their movies even if they're not the original animated classics.

Maybe. But personally I think it's more of Disney's reaction to all the flops they had in recent years. Outside the Marvel and Star Wars-franchises they have been struggling to make succesful live action movies. John Carter, The Lone Ranger, Tomorrowland...

I don't know about that because my little cousins love the renaissance films. Also every time they re-release Lion King in theaters it always hits number one at the box office and gets its run extended due to demand.

Alan tudyk? Random.

Diego though, what a star! Great choice

Alan Tudyk was born to play Donald Duck. Well, except for not being a duck.

The resemblance is uncanny, they may have been separated at birth.

Ah, The Three Caballeros... the only Disney Classic I dislike. Out of 56 movies, this is the only one that I can't stand.

And what would the remake be about, anyway? The original has no plot, it's just randomness.

Some fat-cat (played by Alec Baldwin) peg-leg chasing them across the boarder! ? :woot:
A Magical bullet-proof flying Serape, a singing tequila worm, princesa Ana de Armas, this thing writes itself.
