Homecoming The Official "Don't Panic" Thread

I think they should use an post credits scene where they show Peter getting bit by the spider at the Oscorp Industries field trip, 3 months after the events of what happened in CW.

Both Sevenewebheads and Armin from comicbookcast both put out videos saying that we shouldn't worry, it's highly unlikely that R-man will even be allowed to mess with this deal or the films. I just hope we can all take a sigh of relief for now.

Yeah, but if he suits up in CW it basically makes it seem like Spider-man was there all along, and I really don't like that idea at all. A character of this importance needs his origin in the MCU even if it is wrapped up quickly and to avoid it feeling like part of the Amazing Spider man with a recast actor.

Surfer

Not if they specifically say he is new.

now, somebody please tell me why I shouldn't panic. Or cry.

Read the first post on the thread

(To sum it up, Rothman can't make any decisions his higher up and MCU advocate Michael Lynton doesn't approve of.)

Not sure if you are being sarcastic, because if you are not I think you are mistaken as I can definitely see Audience members being confused about Spider-man just showing up and thinking it must be connected to the ASM movies. If he appears to be pre-established in the MCU, audience members are going to look to whatever source may have pre-established him, and recently that would be the ASM movies. Spider-man needs his origin even if it is done quickly in the opening credits or something, but to neglect it would be a terrible idea. It is for that reason that I don't feel Spider-man can show up in Civil War as a costumed hero, unless it is done similar to what I posted earlier. However, if done that way it does venture a little into making Captain America Civil War into feeling a little like Spider-Man Civil war, but that would perhaps be part of the compromise that would need to be made in order to get a full blown Spider-man into the Civil War movie. At least that is my opinion. Otherwise, I say keep it with Peter Parker photographer until the end credits where he gets bit by the spider. Then in his solo movie have him start with his origin during the opening credits and movie on into a new story by the time the opening credits stop rolling.

I wasn't being sarcastic, I was saying in universe if they state he is a new hero then it would be obvious as to why he has suddenly turned up.

And to those who will then think ASM are connected well then they have problems don't they, if they watch CW then go and watch ASM and think it is connected then what you gonna do.

So, if I understand you correctly you are saying that one of the Avengers within the movie states that Spider-man is a new hero, not that Marvel announce he is a new hero and expect audience members to know he is a new hero. Is that correct? If so, I can kind of see where you are going with it, but I truly don't know if that would be enough to disconnect it from the ASM movies. It might be though, but I am not sure how I feel about that to be honest, as I think some people would consider the ASM movies to be recent enough to still be considered part of him being a new hero.

They actually forget Miles and use the original version of the concept: The Prowler.

That's everything I wanted to hear :applaud
Marvel having a lot of creative control: Avi, Rothman and Pascal don't have a lot of say in the creative-process.
No Miles Morales (Yet) and the traditional white Peter Parker.

All is well people :D

Yes if true, it is exactly what I wanted to hear. The only thing that seems puzzling though is that it claims Sony has no direct "financial involvement", I can understand about them giving Marvel creative control, but not having financial involvement seems odd.

Hello, I'm a random lurker on this forum.

Let me just say that I like the idea of Miles Morales playing Spider-Man about as much as if Bucky Barnes were to play Captain America on the silver screen. That is, not very much. I want to see the classic versions of all the superheroes in the movies, and Spidey is no exception.

Of course this isn't a confirmation that Marvel will have most of the creative control but it seems very likely.

It's the only thing that makes sense when you think about what marvel would agree to.

I mean why else would Marvel delay 4 of their own movies if they had little involvement in the 2017 Spider-Man movie?

I really do think what LR is saying is legit, and that sony allowed marvel their creative control as long as marvel can sugar coat it to make it appear that sony isn't in a losing position.

I think so as well. LR has been pretty spot-on with this Spider-Man stuff so I trust them about this. Gonzales is on a roll!

For all of those getting worked up over the Rothman announcement
This is from deadline:

I'm sure Lynton won't allow Rothman to interfere with this deal, here's what he said about the deal:

Why would he allow Rothman to mess this collaboration up? This is Spidey's LAST chance to prove that he's still a money maker, Sony can NOT afford to mess this up.

Oh and about that Miles/Ethnic Peter Parker rumor, straight from his primary source:
https://***********/TheInSneider/sta...03712732581888
Need I say more? Rumor debunked.

Also here's another comment from him that further extinguish his credibility:

As of right now, Dylan O'Brien and Logan Lerman are STILL being considered for this role.

Thanks for posting this Harry, this helped alleviate whatever concerns I may or may not have.
And the little bit that just came out about Marvel retaining more creative control than we originally thought certainly helps as well. I really am holding out hope for this one guys.

Boom, hit the nail on the head. Great point.

I really want to see the Prowler in an Agents of SHIELD episode, he was one of my favorite characters as a kid believe it or not. He's basically a low rent Batman, but with a cooler mask.

People keep forgetting about rocket racer, robbie robertson, tombstone, cloak and dagger, and others. You can tell people who want miles are riding on a bandwagon and they dont know anything about him. Its so strange to see such a large spike of Miles fans come out of nowhere:huh:.

he's a good character but to want him first? Ummm ok.......

I like Miles and have loved reading his series, but you can tell there really is a knee-jerk reaction amongst certain fans who want Miles just for the sake of change. Not all mind you, but there's some out there that have probably never read a single issue with Miles in it but are clamoring for him in the next movie.

also since sony still owns the character, the film will open with the columbia pictures logo
