Homecoming The Official "Don't Panic" Thread

yeah man, the marvel banner has always been there.

True but I meant the Marvel Studios opening theme with the awesome new bombastic anthem that accompanies their logo like with their last three movies. That'll be awesome to see alongside the Columbia/Tristar banner, if they end up going with that. It'll be interesting to see what they go for, but I have feeling it'll be the newer theme and not the regular Marvel flip banner.

oh. well, i'm pretty sure they will. personally, i'd rather they kept the original opening marvel logo (partially coz I like it beter, and partially because spiderman's always been having it and now there'll be even less marvel films having it), but I think the entire reason disney made a new opening marvel logo was to distinguish them from fox & sony. and now that it's become the new opening logo for MCU films, the spidey reboot is guaranteed to have it.

Agreed, I'm sure that's why they made it and it makes a lot of sense to want to distinguish what is and is not actually made by Marvel. A really smart move on their part.

at this point though, with the MCU being the juggernaut it is I don't think casual moviegoers have a hard time distinguishing them from sony & fox.

regardless though. sony's marvel movies are now a part of the MCU, so it will make sense for them to use the new marvel opening logo.

I'd like to think that the past three Spider-man films all either being missteps or misfires would let Sony know they don't have what it takes to do the character justice, so they won't be brats in terms of creative control. Trust Marvel to get it done, and let them make you both a whoooooole lot of money.

Sony can't put up a fight, honestly. The fact that they made the deal means they want marvel's creations, not their own.

I don't care which logos appear, I just want the movie to be awesome. lol

Agreed, and as someone else brought up (and I had not considered this before) the fact that Marvel moved around their slate to accommodate for the reboot shows that clearly an amicable working relationship has, at the least, already been formed.

I mean Sony "can" put up a fight in the future, I don't know. But right now the 2017 movie is happening and that's that. It's just a matter of what is going on after that film and the Infinity War movies.

If marvel keeps making them money then they are wise not to meddle with it.

The Wrap’s Jeff Sneider recently commented on the future of the reboot and Peter Parker’s involvement in the movie. During his appearance as host on the Meet the Movie Press podcast, Sneider claimed he is 95 percent certain that “Spider-Man is not going to be white.” When asked by fellow host Mark Reilly from Schmoesknow.com on what he thinks the ethnicity of the character will be, Sneider replied, “Spider-Man is going to be most likely black. But there is a chance he could also be Latino.”

The possibility of Spider-Man being black brings to mind Miles Morales, which Reilly himself suggested during the show for Marvel to consider. The character first appeared as the web slinger back in the 2011 “Ultimate Comics: Spider-Man series.” While Sneider didn’t outright mention Morales as the next Spider-Man, IGN claims Sneider may have considered the Sony hack as a factor contributing to the casting of a non-White Spider-Man. Sneider said the leaked emails from Amy Pascal were perceived as “racist in some quarters” and thought “that’s going to play into things” in casting a black Spider-Man in the reboot.
False alarm people, it's from two days ago... as we already know the whole Black Spider-Man rumor created by Troll-Sneider has already debunked.

what's there to fight about? sony KNEW that the fan base wanted a deal like this to happen, if they were to try and fight it off in the future, they'd only be pouring more gasoline on themselves.

separating spidey from the mcu AFTER establishing his presence there... is almost worse than not having him there in the first place.

Yup, they'd be forced to reboot again without the mcu, and they would get destroyed. I can say with 100% certainty that that scenario would just send spiderman back to marvel fully. If sony messes up, we won't lose spidey; they will.

Well if the last leaked e-mail was true, then by 2020 the rights of spiderman is fully return to marvel.

@harryoscop: sadly there still many news outlet reported it until today. I don't know what to say.

Sneider seems to be either trolling for attention or just projecting his personal desires and ideas for the casting of Peter Parker.

Okay, read up on Sneider who in fact debunked himself.

I'm not really bothered about the race of the person who plays Spider-Man as long as he puts in a good performance.

Out of all iconic heroes, why only spiderman that got into this pitiful race issue? While other iconic heroes like batman or superman were never gets into this kind of issue. People not tired on seeing white bruce wayne over the years or white clark kent. It doesn't make sense at all.

Yeah. I think it all started with the bull over being "tired" of Peter Parker by Miles fans, hoping he'd be the new Spidey. Then when they learned it was all but certainly Peter as Spidey, that's when they started pinning their hopes on a black Peter Parker. It's all just nonsense, really.
