Unfortunately, Bethesda is the type to charge for DLC even on the PC. I'd much rather see a free patch that unlocks the game beyond the final main quest mission than a bunch of pay DLC that happens to include the unlock. There's still plenty to see with what the game originally comes with if you don't obsessively go everywhere and do every little thing before completing the main quest.the forthcoming DLC is supposed to fix that....
Half of the mods for Oblivion were better than the DLC Bethesda released.

I have a save right before the last mission so I'm circumventing that issue....
The fact that PC content has generally been free. Valve releases periodic updates to Team Fortress 2 with new content and only charges if it's a really, truly significant batch of content--I'm talking huge, like the Half-Life 2 episodes. game past the final main quest mission.
I cant even imagine playing this or Oblivion on the consoles. Its soo much better on the PCThis is the reason why it is better to play Bethesda games on PC than on a console.
That's actually my point: I don't think the smaller little extra articles of clothing or armor or whatever are worth it, so I'm not willing to pay for them. Substantial things like actual expansion packs (which is what Shivering Isles and Bring Down the Sky are), sure, charge away (up to a point, obviously). But short of those, if modders are out there putting out the same kinds of things for free that the devs are charging for, I'm going to go with the modders' free stuff, especially since it's sometimes even better than the official stuff.Yea, but you cant expect devs to give you things like Oblivions Shivering Isles or BioWares Bring Down the Sky and not charge for it in todays market. I dont have a problem paying for things, even horse armor, because that takes time for the devs to make. They dont just snap their fingers and then theres horse armor. Now, i dont mind paying, but im not gonna pay if i think the price doesnt match the DLC's value. Take Playstation HOME for example, 2 dollars for a virtual chair??? I think not.

I just read something from someone at Valve on this, actually. I think someone quoted it in a post right here on the Hype--but basically the gist of it was that Valve's free DLC releases tend to generate as much or more income through increased sales of the game itself than what other companies' make on their pay-DLC.I guess my perspective is if i like the game and like the developer behind it, i dont mind paying for some DLC, regardless of size, if i want it. I mean thats their job, so i dont mind paying for their services.
It's definitely more expensive, but if you're planning to get a decent computer or upgrade to a decent level anyway, which I do every 5 years or so now, the PC versions do tend to look better.

Steam's great for that. I tend to uninstall games after I'm done playing them, but Steam has your list of purchases that you can always download the local content for again, so it's not a problem to reinstall it if I get the urge to play it again.
Granted, that doesn't really help console users at all.
Yeah, you're definitely stuck up.
