So basically, Bethesda would have gotten huge payments from both Sony and Microsoft just to release the games on all platforms, which they would have done anyway had no-one started throwing money at them in the first place. Essentially, they'd be getting paid by both companies to do nothing. What kind of stupid world is that to live in? :o

It's called capitalism......they were developing the DLC (as for The Pitts issues, apparently the issue occured when it was being uploaded to Xbox Live from Bethesda...**** happens) and Microsoft paid them to keep the DLC exclusive to Microsoft....so it wasn't the material itself Microsoft paid for, it was the exclusivity rights....same with the GTA IV DLC

Im waiting for the last DLC to come out that ups the level cap so I can just download all 3 and jack my character up

Im also waiting for the last DLC to come out to reach level 30, level 20 has so many perks I have yet to try. I know the last dlc comes out in april, but any idea when?

I downloaded the first and second DLC and am playing them on a seperate save, just to try them out, but I am going to wait till the third DLC to do it on my main save, so I can get up to level 30.

I played this for about 3 hours straight, last Sunday. I finally reached level 20. I started out using small guns, and focusing on medicine and lockpicking, but I eventually became a sort of lightweight melee/stealth hacker. I decided that I might as well commit to melee, since my STR was so high, and I love using some of the weapons, especially the shishkebab. I reached a point where I can block most any melee attack without taking any significant damage, which mostly makes up for my low END.

I also committed to making myself an expert in energy weapons, because I can never get enough of seeing my targets disintegrating.

After I traveled thru Oasis, I ran over to nearby Vault ?, tearing thru everything in my path, except for a gang of giant radscorps who surprised me while I wasn't paying attention, and got in a few good licks before I roasted them with my shishkebab.

I might make a new character this weekend, and specialize in hand-to-hand.

I should try a hand-to-hand badass, too. That seems like it'd be fun to see. A random dude running around punching radscorpions in the head. :D

I Dont think so, I think you should wait till the lower in price.

Fallout 3: Broken Steel First Look
http://xboxlive.ign.com/articles/974/974312p1.html

April 21, 2009 - If you've been stuck at level 20 in Fallout 3 for months like I have, you've likely been eying up Broken Steel for quite some time. This is, after all, the add-on that will lift the level cap to 30. The wait is almost over and we now have a firm sense of just how long that wait will be. Broken Steel will be put up for sale for Xbox 360 and Windows PC on May 5 at a price of 800 Microsoft points (US $10). Now that we've got the price particulars out of the way, we can get to the real juicy details learned during an extended guided demo.

The big selling point of Broken Steel is that it offers the ability to level up past 20. This is not a superficial change. More achievements are being added. New perks will be unlocked (the one we were told about creates a clone of Dog Meat if he dies and lets you retrieve him again). Enemies will become substantially harder as your level creeps towards 30. You'll even run into a few new breeds of old foes that are unlike anything you've yet seen. Just because you can level up further, don't expect Fallout 3 to become a cake walk.

You'll also find that reaching level 30 won't be any small task. Pete Hines, the VP of Marketing and Public Relations for Bethesda, said that it "takes a ton of experience points" to reach the new cap. Simply playing through the new quests for Broken Steel -- which we were told will have a main quest that lasts a bit longer than The Pitt -- won't be enough. To hit the new cap, you'll have to get back to exploring the Capital Wasteland. This will be a lot easier than before, since Broken Steel removes the hard stop at the end of the main game and never replaces it. You'll be free to quest all you like without ever having to worry about hitting a point of no return.

You're looking at about four or five hours worth of content for the main quest with another couple coming from side quests. None of those side quests, incidentally, will be collect-a-thons like we saw in The Pitt. But before we get into side quests, perhaps it would be best to explain the basic plot of Broken Steel.

This upcoming add-on picks up at the very end of the main quest for Fallout 3. If you haven't reached the end yet, it'd be best to stop reading this now. Don't say we didn't warn you about spoilers.
The main quest in Fallout 3 ends with the player making a few important decisions on the future of the region's water supply. It also sometimes ends with the player's death. This time around, whoever goes into the reactor won't die. What's more, you can even send any of the three followers it is possible to have at that time in for you; something that can't be done in the game right now. Who goes in is reportedly important -- as is your choice about poisoning the Super Mutants or not -- though Bethesda isn't saying how just yet. Regardless of which decisions you make, you'll find yourself knocked unconscious. When you wake up two weeks later, the new quest begins.

With Project Purity a success, there is now fresh water filling the basin. Unfortunately, there is the little issue of distributing it. And there is still the Enclave war with the Brotherhood to deal with. These two troubles are the key quest and sub-quest lines you'll tackle in Broken Steel. As it turns out, Liberty Prime isn't a big enough weapon to do in the Enclave. To hopefully finish them off, you'll have to assemble a new weapon: The Tesla Cannon.

The big new weapon is fierce. It's essentially a giant tube filled with crackling electricity that shoots out massive bolts of energy. One shot is enough to take out a flying Vertibird. Other new weapons you'll find in Broken Steel include a projectile flame thrower that tosses little fireballs and a tri-laser. These last two can be obtained by prying them out of the cold dead hands of some of the new enemies. The Overlord Super Mutant carries the new laser weapon while the Enclave Hellfire Troopers use the new flame thrower.

Bethesda wasn't showing a lot of plot points within Broken Steel to prevent spoilers from floating around, but there were a few new areas on display. Much of Broken Steel takes place within the main Capital Wasteland, unlike The Pitt and Operation Anchorage. The one big new area -- aside from some new tunnels and buildings -- is Andrews Air Force Base which has been turned into an Enclave stronghold. To get there you'll have to fight your way through tunnels underneath the remains of the White House. They're filled with Feral Ghoul Reapers, naturally.

The past two downloadable add-ons were good for a few hours of fun, though they didn't exactly set the world on fire. If you just rolled your eyes at that joke, then this should sound like the download you've been asking for. Just lifting the level cap is enough to get me excited. Not having a full-stop ending and the addition of the new missions are the icing. We'll find out if Broken Steel can live up to my expectations and yours on May 5. Stay tuned.

No. Microsoft didn't pay Rockstar to keep the content away from Sony. They just paid for the content, period. Like, The Lost and Damned and whatever the second one is wouldn't even exist if Microsoft didn't commission it. I suspect it's probably the same with Bethesda as well.

Has there been any word if there will be a Fallout 4 or not?

here's your answer to this

How does a Fallout MMO strike your fancy? Well, how about a Fallout MMO legal battle? Interplay Entertainment, the makers of the first two Fallout games, is in the early stages of developing an MMO based on the post-apocalyptic universe. Although Interplay sold the Fallout rights to Bethesda back in 2007, they retained the right to make an MMO based on the franchise. GamesIndustry.biz reports that Bethesda is now considering legal action against Interplay, alleging that since they´ve failed to start real full-scale development on the MMO, they no longer own the rights. If true, this could mean that Bethesda wants to make their own Fallout MMO, given the success of Fallout 3 and its new direction for the franchise. Everything is just speculation at this point, we´ll let you know if people start getting sued.

the video of this news will air this coming friday or the night befor after midnight which even time you want to see it.

source: the eletric playground.

any way that sorta seem's to be the new plan. Too bad their near sueing each other. and yes since i got this game for my pc I 've been enjoying it.

yo i'm just bringing the news if some one doesn't know about something or ask's if there's more coming down the line after other news we already know.

I don't work for the makers of the game. Keep that in mind. I was a game tester for the past two years

But right now I'm doing tournaments for team fortress 2 on steam( free dlc content thank you steam) and i have a match to get into second season in the UGCL this wenesday night.

I wouldn't mind an MMO I mean I already have three on my list with Dc onlin Marvel online and the agency the latter one I've been waiting a while for the thing is I think it might be too early for a Fallout MMO. anyway I don't see this thing happing for long while if their near sueing each other over it. .

I don't really want to see an MMO based on Fallout, to be honest.

Same here. I may just wait for the Fallout 3 Game of the Year edition to come out. I'm really hoping that Bethesda is working on another Elder's Scrolls game.

oh they are, don't worry about that thing with Elder scrolls was announced before this ever was it's coming still it's just a different team running it. I was already told that on the electric play ground forum. when I was dicussing fall out 3 with others. it's a coming.

I checked up on the Fallout 3 DLC on PS3 petition, and it's almost at the magic number of 10,000 signatures! Hopefully someone at Bethesda will take a look at it and gets some idea of what a large number of fans they are alienating by withholding DLC from them.

I can live without Operation Anchorage and The Pitt, but honestly it's going to burn me up if I can't play Broken Steel. It sounds like it really is the ending that the original game SHOULD have had, and yet PS3 owners won't get to have it. That's pure suckage, and I hope Bethesda comes to realize that.

Some intern at Bethesda will come across it, bring it to someone up the chain, it will get laughed it before a meeting before they cash another check from Microsoft....if Sony wanted in, they should have ponied up the dough....simple as that

A representative from Capcom said that game companies start paying attention to petitions when they get 10,000 signatures or more, because that tends to represent a pretty sizeable amount of customers. That's not to say that 10,000 customers is a lot, but if that's just how many were irked enough to go online and track down a petition, there are likely many more customers who share the same grievance but simply did not take it up with the company.

Bethesda needs to know that it's pissing a lot of poeple off. They thought they could get away with it and no-one would notice, but when they get a petition with over 10,000 signatures it gets a bit trickier to brush under the rug. If Bethesda continues to treat PS3 owners like second-class customers, they will lose their loyalty with their future products.

I can't wait for the DLC, those Supermutant Behemoths with Cannon guns look amazing.

Why are you so annoyed with Bethesda over this, specifically? There are plenty of games that have exclusive DLC or are themselves exclusive to one console. They're not treating PS3 owners like second-class customers, they're following the same business model plenty of other companies do.

a petition wont change anything they have a contract with microsoft, they wont want to be sued by one of the biggest companys in the world!! That said the contract may have been exclusive dlc for a certain time period, maybe 1 or 2 years so it might happen, but if it does appear on the ps3 make no mistake about it, it will not be down to a petition

Don't you just need a different email address to sign a petition more than once? I'd have to think there's some kind of mathematical equation to reduce the total number of signatures into the actual number of people.

Only if the mathematical equation involves checking IPs, I imagine. And even then, one guy could go to libraries and internet cafes and artificially inflate the numbers.
