I always think back to the days of free additional content with Morrowind and sigh. :(

Yeah...but I still give Bethesda some credit. A lot of companies out there are releasing incomplete games as an excuse to charge people for DLC that should've been with the game to begin with. At least with Bethesda, you know you're going to get a great game and if you finish the great game, and want more...you have the option.

That is true, with Bethesda you do get a good full game, then the option to continue further into it. Probably the better DLC out there but still I think DLC is just not really the best way of doing things.

I still feel even though a magnificent game, Fallout 3's main quest seemed "cut off". I mean I had tons to do, and did all the side quests got up to 20, got good weapons and armor, yet the main quest/story itself seemed cut off, like it was not "complete".

I guess I will have to wait for the GOTY edition. To continue the adventures in Wasteland further. In the mean time, me and Dogmeat will wait.

I just didn't like that you couldn't wander around the wastes indefinitely after completing the main quest. I mean, yeah, sometimes it doesn't really make sense with the story, but whatever, it's more fun than getting the credits and then having to start over.

I just saved right before starting the last mission...and I revert to that forward...Im on a break right now because of Street Fighter

Yea I don't like that aspect of it. I mean I really could see no reason of doing that except them aiming for the DLC. I mean Oblivion, Morrowind, Daggerfall, yadda yadda they all allowed you to walk around after main quests were completed. I found it odd that Fallout 3 did not.

That is what I did as well. But I've got not too much left to do on Fallout 3, I've done a lot already. Still got most my ammo for my Alien Blaster though ;)

I've been playing SFIV as well, but man it's been so long since I've played a fighting game in full, I'm rusty as hell. Since Tekken 3 I think its been since I really got into a fighter.

Crap next week I got Killzone 2, then soon after RE5. Lots to play.

That makes me feel like I'm retconning my character. Doesn't make sense, I know, but I don't really like it.

you don't like retconning? you wouldn't last a day at Marvel :hehe:

Sharpen up low res textures.

Fallout 3: HD Texture Pack - Introduction

Fallout 3 already offers several god textures, but it seems like they weren't good enough for an unknown modder. With version 1.00 of his 400 MiByte big High Definition Pack you can increase the visual quality of Fallout 3. Just download the HD package and unpack the files into the Fallout 3 folder. After that you open the FALLOUT.ini which can be found in the following locations:

• C:\Users\Username\Documents\My Games\Fallout3 (Vista)
• C:\C:\Documents and Settings\Username\My Documents\My Games\Fallout3 (XP)

Search for the entry "bInvalidateOlderFiles=0" and replace the zero with a one (1). The high-res textures are activated now.

Jesus, as if Fallout 3 didn't demand ridiculously powerful hardware as it is. That thing must need the most top-of-the-line vid cards on the market.

Right....

...I tried playing Fallout 3 again yesterday after beating it a while back. It got very boring to trek across the wasteland at that speed. CAN WE GET A HORSE OR SOMETHING!?!?!?

a horse in a video game.. what's next? a jet?

Fast-travel FTW.

Thanks. I just got a 216-core GeForce 260. I have a widescreen TV that I use as a monitor, so I play it at 1920x1080, which means it should run pretty well at 4x AA, which is as high as I usually go anyway.

With this 8800gt running games at 1280X1024 the only games that really pushes it is to breaking point grand theft auto 4 and Crysis maxed. It's an all round great video card for the price it was bought.

Fallout 3, maxed out at 1920x1080, seems to have burned my 8800GTX out. That's why I got the 216-core 260.

This whole half page discussion is one of the main reason I have no interest in PC gaming.

same here....some people live for it but I can't imagine having a gas powered generator and a liquid nitrogen cooler to run a PC so I can play Fallout 3 or Crysis

If you are using a home pc or a console then you already are.
All home pc's have a PSU. The consoles (xbox360/ps3) are running on old pc tech (the playstation 3 RSX is the counterpart to the Geforce 7800GTX).

Yep, pc's break every week and need upgraded every 6 months with a new $5000 dollar one, even then they RROD.

Sure it wasn't a dying/dead psu?
The card might not have been getting enough juice.
Nope, it's the card. I know because it couldn't even run less graphics-intensive games like Left 4 Dead after I managed to reinstall the drivers and get it sort-of-working again.
