There are very many of regular posters (throughout the entire SHH) who prefer not to venture into "The Community" forum because it is too crude, rude, and lewd. They prefer to have conversations with people that aren't consistently interrupted with idiotic spamming, mean spirited attacks, and misogynistic sexual comments.
Sorry, but...

Wow alot has been going on.

Thank You C Lee for reopening this thread.

Congrats Strykes on your 7000th post! Good thing it's not a cell with text messeging! lol

Speaking of Disney world,

Has anybody been to Marvel's Island of Adventure amusement park in Universal Studios Florida? Do they have an FF ride there?

I've never been, but you'd figure they'd have one or they'd be getting one soon to coincide with the movie.

EDIT: oh, shoot! speaking of Lightning reaching 7,000,

I just got a 1,000:eek: The ability to upload attatchments is now MINE!

I know there's a Doc Doom ride, I'm not sure there's a FF ride.

oh please Z, you've had as much fun in here as the rest of us!

I wanted to put this here originally, but Dew had it closed. So here it is. My Star Wars Review / Experience.

In 1977 I went to my second movie ever. I'm almost tempted to call it the first movie I ever saw simply because I fell asleep during "Ode to Billy Joe". I showed up at the cinema at the spry age of six and I experienced an event that would change my views of life forever. Star Wars : A New Hope was like nothing I'd ever seen before and I left the cinema thinking that I was a part of something bigger than myself.

A few years later ( three to be exact ) I went back to the cinema and this time. Star Wars wasn't my little secret anymore. The world had discovered this space opera and now alot of us Gen X'er's had latched onto our own Mother Goose. This was our contribution to the ages. It didn't belong to George Lucas anymore. He was just an interpreter. I also learned to avoid spoilers like the plague. As I was standing in line for the second showing of The Empire Strikes Back, my former friend Scott Lehew let the cat out of the bag when he was exiting the cinema. He said he couldn't believe that Darth Vader was Lukes father. Scott is no longer with us. Honor demanded his head. Even though that fact was let out of the bag, Empire quickly became my favorite of the saga. Like a second act in an opera, this flick was darker. The bad guys won, old friends betrayed us, and for all we know Han Solo would spend the rest of his days as a coffee table. I left the cinema worried, but I had faith in our heroes. I had hope.

Three years later, Return of the Jedi soared onto the scene, and everyone geared up for the "last" Star Wars movie. No threat of spoilers this year. All were told the tale of "Lehew" and to face my wrath is an indomitable task indeed. A new Death Star rose and fell and finally, Anakin Skywalker redeemed himself. The Baddest ***** in the Galaxy turned out to be some crusty old white dude. But life is sometimes anti-climactic and there was a sense of balance to Luke and his father's first and last meeting. It's sad to see our friends leave and I was effected by it. But the rumor mills were already flying. Would there be more? I had hope.

The years roll by and boys turn into men. Well some turn into men, I happend to avoid most of that garbage. But one faithful day the announcement came that Star Wars : The Prequels were on the way. Kaloo Kalay!!! My old friends are coming back! What's that you say? Only a few of my old friends are coming back? Aww who cares? It's Star Wars! Hope springs eternal.

The Phantom Menace rolled around. It was the most hyped movie I'd ever seen. News channels were stopping their usual barrage of propaganda and catastrophe with live coverages of Star Wars premieres. The media strangled the movie. It was a solid movie with subtext ranging from Buster Keaton to Ben Hur to Clash of the Titans. However no movie can live up to the scrutiny this film had. Every Joe Blow who owns a camcorder and thinks that they could make a movie ten times better inendated the internet calling for the head of George Lucas. It's so strange to me the way people judged this movie on it's own instead of adding it to the whole. If you watch just the portions of Gone With the Wind that are actually during the Civil War, you get an incomplete storyline. It's plenty of rich material, it just doesn't go anywhere. And to me that's the nature of the publics problems with the first two prequels. Unreachable expectations and short sighted movie goers. Well I wasn't going to let it stop me. I camped out in N.Y. city for a week and was the second person in line for Phantom Menace. I hung out with the "geeks" and kicked everyone's ass in Star Wars : Trivial Pursuit. I was kinda alone out there when I saw it but hanging out with the pariahs of society and finally getting to see a new Star Wars film gave me hope for a cynical world. It taught me not to listen to much to people who have agendas and make money off of breaking people down. I had a blast. I had hope.

Three years pass and Anakin's all grown up. I spend the month before the premiere with Empire Strikes Back playing on my auto rewind VCR playing in my bedroom. This film boasted the first step of Anakin towards the darkside. It also showed us a bit more about Boba Fett. Him being the coolest Bounty Hunter in the Galaxy and everything. Still the critics had a field day breaking the movie apart. To be honest I felt the jabs personally. Like I said earlier, this phenomenon no longer belonged to Lucas. It was ours and all the Hater'ade really hurt. Is that weird? Nonetheless it was a great lovestory and a great addition to the saga. I had hope.

And now here we are today. Twenty eight years later. How did it come to this? Star Wars : Revenge of the Sith is the first Star Wars film rated PG-13. It barely made it. In this film we finally see the acts that turn a toe headed boy with the world ahead of him into the Dark Lord of the Sith. I won't go into detail but needless to say all will be touched by the acts of Darth Vader. And yet...

We still sympathize with him. Anakin's fatal flaw is his fear of loss. The fear of losing those people that you love. How can an act begat by love go so wrong? In the prequels it took us a little longer to care about the characters than it did in the original trilogy, but the payoff might be greater. I wept for Padme' and I didn't care who saw it. The final confrontation between Obi Wan and Anakin and The Emperor and Yoda are cinematic history. We know the outcome and yet the inevitability of it doesn't distract our attention at all. We see more mythological influence as usual. We see old friends and we see old places. However this film too is a tragedy. The mood is somber as I leave the cinema. Almost like a funeral. But like a funeral there is an underlying mood of celebration. We know the future holds good things for our friends. We know they will get through this and Good will triumph over Evil..... but at what price?

My journey is over. This oddyssey I set out on twenty eight years ago is over. Oh sure I can still play the games and watch the movies over and over again and speculate till the end of time if Lucas will make more. But somehow I know that this special journey, this myth that I was front row seat for through out my life, this saga is over. And like the movie itself... that is sad.

But I have Hope. I always will. And I learned it from Star Wars.

Beautiful:(

I'm so nervous! I have a calculus test tommorow and I really don't like the number "e". Thank G-d it's last period so I got some time to study during lunch and maybe computer programming.

This is one of the worst times of the year for me (the other is in December) because all final projects are due and exams are really close. I've to put trying to watch every single Star Trek episode ever on hold for a bit so I can work.

Everyone here is busy talking about SW, so I've decided to try to talk a little bit about the last Star Trek ep. That was the most disapointing and horrible episode EVER to end a series on! I don't even want to consider that part of the franchise it was so abysmal. I'll ask the actors on the show what they thought about it when I go to the convention this summer.

Yuck, I don't want to do more studying!

You don't like the number e? How can you not like a transcendental number? Besides, if I remember correctly, integrals and differentials involving e are pretty easy. Isn't there just a special case that you just need to remember, something like d/dx eX = ln x?

It's been a long time.....all I can remember is something about line integrals and 2 pi r...

Good luck!

The big thing to remeber is that the derivative of e^x is e^x because it would be e^x ln e, and since ln e is one, when you multiply that by e^x, you get e^x.

There is just so much stuff to remember about that number.

That's it!!! I knew there was something like that about e.
Also, e is the grade I got in differential equations......
