I love how more people think Wally West is the better character, yet think Barry should get an origin movie. Lets not do another run of the mill superhero origin movie, make this film stand out. Do a flick about the Flash Legacy and include Wally, Barry, and Jay. Basic plot outline. Wally West takes over the Flash mantle from the deceased Barry Allen, under the guidance of Jay Garrick.

With that plot, you get the most The Flash who has the most character depth and has been fleshed out the best, yet Barry Allen is still important to the story. And Jay Garrick is there and can provide The Flash Legacy aspect. It's a frigging win win all around. Whats great is, you can portray Barry Allen is this larger than life, perfect hero, and now Wally West has to follow that, the film can mirror the comics. That would make good cinema if done right, better cinema than yet another basic origin story. The Green Lantern storyline is complex enough that it needs to be shown from the start of it all, with Hal Jordan.

The movie can be called "The Flash: Legacy".

And in the sequel, you can go all GodFather Part 2, and show flashbacks of Barry Allen that mirror the present day Wally West, perhaps against the Rogues.

So I assume David Dobkin is still directing? If the new script works out and they get Porter or NPH, it could happen sooner than we think. Especially since Nolan has another film to do before BB3.

I think David Dobkins is off.

He got hired during the post Batman Begins pre-Dark Knight days at WB. And Before the DC/WB summit.

If you look at him now, compared to the guys WB are trying to get or already have, you'll be like "HUH"?

yea likely he walked off the project and all that. I still say it would be best to start with barry and include wally yes but leave him taking over the flash mantle to sequel.

He made a point that I was trying to do. Wall had (and still has) a successful run (no pun intented) as the main Flash. Barry never had a real post Crisis storyline where he was involved, so he was active in modern day comics. So when people say "Barry's boring", and I've been saying that it's not a fair statement.

Anyway, the Green Lantern movie has an advantage over Flash: It's been 4-5 years with Johns' doing the current GL with Hal Jordan. So if the writer of the Flash has to do research if Barry's the main character, he's limited to the pre-Crisis stuff since Flash Rebirth won't start until April.

I just do not want Wally to get blown off and pushed out of his role as The Flash. I do not want him treated like Kyle Rayner because he is better than Kyle Rayner.

It should be Barry wearing the new costume, not Wally.

The thing about Kyle is that I don't think he had the impact that Wally had as the title character.

But I don't understand why Barry should wear a new costume. Wally looks up to Barry, so even then, if Wally was a real dude, he would want barry to wear the original costume.

Yes Wally looks up to Barry, but how awesome would it be if Barry showed his respect for how Wally has carried the Flash Legacy by letting him where the main suit. Thats more powerful than Wally handing it back to Barry.

GL's edge IMO is that its got enough backing with writers and producers within WB itself to get it moving not that Johns' is making comics about Hal. Without DeLine, Berlanti, Green and Guggenheim's efforts GL would still be in development hell.

That is EXACTLY what I was saying! It's unfair to say that Barry is "boring" when all he has is silver age stories, and he had comparatively little characterization just like everyone else, including WALLY WEST, Hal Jordan, Superman, etc. He hasn't really been written post crisis where everyone is more "3-D", the best Post Crisis Barry Allen story is definitely New Frontier. That's exactly how Barry should be written. And Geoff hit the nail on the head, Barry Allen is to The Flash what Hal Jordan is to Green Lantern, they're the DEFINITIVE versions of those respective characters.

********. He is letting Wally "keep the legacy", he's just back and as Flash as well. Don't get any fairer than that. Besides, it's Wally who needs to be with his fam now more than anyone, dude doesn't even have a job to support his wife and kids.

News Flash: Wally is better than Kyle and I like him over Kyle Rayner, true, but like it or not, he is the Kyle Rayner equevilant for The Flash. So you're saying you don't want Wally to have his own book? You don't want Wally to be a Flash?

Lemme get this straight....you're saying Barry shouldn't be wearing his own costume??? You know, the one he invented and wore longer than anyone else, and that the sidekick who took it over when he died and pretended to be him should be wearing his suit? Puh-lease. If Wally wasn't such of a p*ssy (or if DC wan't), he would have gotten his own costume years ago. That's as stupid as Kyle Rayner still wearing Hal's suit, perhaps that's why Wally managed to stay around longer than Kyle, because he looked like Barry, cuz DC knows that if they would've changed the iconic suit drastically like they did to the guy wearing it sales would've spiked then dropped phenomenally, and the real guy would've been back a lot sooner. Here's something simple: red and silver for Wally. Wally should have The Flash suit but it should be silver where Barry's was gold. Done. Looks like Flash, but Wally is his own man.....at last, instead of pretending to be Barry.
