I'd like to see Dr. Alchemy, but I think Mr. Element works better for a movie. They could adapt Geoff's Ignition arc, where Mr. Element is murdering people and blaming Captain Cold (Flash, in this case), and, during the investigation, Wally discovers he's John Petrov, one of the KCPD members.

I'd be cool with that too. :D

THE FLASH:

Forensic scientist Barry Allen is accidentally hit by an lightning while working on an important case overnight. His body is bathed with chemicals substances altered by the electrical discharge of the lightning, changing Barry's organism and giving him the ability to run at extraordinary speeds. Inspired by his childhood comic-book heroes, Barry becomes the Flash, a super-hero fighting crime in the streets of the twin towns Central City and Keystone City. Flash's sightings sparkle investigative reporter Iris West's interest. Iris is also Barry's girlfriend, as it's continually angry because of his laziness and slowness, something he no more suffers of. But Barry's life will soon become complicated. Famous public figures are being murdered by an mysterious criminal and the Flash is framed by the crimes. Now, he must dodge Iris's investigations about his true identity, escape his police co-workers and uncover the murderer's identity before his crime cause an actual war between the police, the mob and the gangs who control the city's streets. Will the Flash be fast enough to save millions of lifes before it's too late?

I wouldn't start the Flash with a super villain. I would start with street level crimes, maybe a mob doing gun running through Central City. Give Flash a normal set of villains to fight and have him take down a whole organization in his first movie so you instantly have that love that the whole city has for him. A huge mafia type organization taken down by a superhero and evidence from a CSI named Barry would be a cool ending to the first movie.

Superhero movies need an supervillain. They're 45% of the fun! :woot:

The Flash should be, intrinsicly, a police movie. That's why I included Mr. Element (Thanks, Kevin! :woot:). He'd be a great villain for the 1° movie: His identity would be a secret, and one of the sub-Plots of the movie. He's a real murderer who's main target are public figures, for no apparent reason (Or is there one? :oldrazz:). And he's badass. I'd have two fight with Flash. One in the end of the 2° act, when Barry outsmarts him and it's able to catch him before the escapes the crime scene, but he's not ready to fight him and ends up frozen (This is we're he'd use his vibrating habillities, phasing threw the ice). And one at the end, where Barry uncovers his true identity and they have an hystorical fistfight! :woot:

Question: Logically who do you think will get picked Barry or Wally?

Not who's better, not who you prefer, but who do you realistically think will get chosen?

IMO its hard to say. Barry was the first Flash with the suit with the mask, but Wally has been the Flash for the last 20 years. From what I've seen Wally is the fan favorite, but they shouldnt shove that down the writers throat if he doesnt feel comfortable using that incarnation. Barry recently has come back, but to lukewarm response..but thats just due to bad writing. The last 2 Flash film projects by Goyer and Levy had Wally West...but those fell through. There using Hal Jordan in the GL film and he originated in the Silver Age like Barry, but then again the movies arent the comic books and they could take liberties as theyve done with alot of good comic book films in the past

Honestly I just want to hear some words from this Dan Mazeau guy. Just an interview about some of his ideas for The Flash be it Wally or Barry I just want some kind of confirmation that this project is still alive and running. I would be happy with either Wally or Barry

AND another kind of OT question: Why has GL been on the fast track while other DC projects have trouble just getting past the script stages. Is it a lack of a director that pushes for the movie?

I'm going to say Wally since both recent attempts at a Flash movie featured him, and because he's the most popular version of the character (and has had the title for the last 20 some odd years). However, I think it'd be a good idea to have Barry in the movie, since as I've said before I'd like to see a "passing the torch" story.

Yea as i said before its a real tough call on where they would like to go and would want to go with a flash film. I would prefer to start at the begining with barry like how we are getting hal for green lantern.

Grodd could work as well as anything. It'd just be really, really silly in some sense.

Hey, and they could all ride motorcycles. Feh. That's montage stuff. He needs a supervillain. Something that will REALLY test his forensic abilities and his mettle.

I think they'll pick Barry since they went with Hal Jordan in the GREEN LANTERN movie.

This makes me want to write a Flash script. Bah. Any screenwriters out there want to collaborate?

Here's a question. How the hell do you explain the presence of The Rogues in a way that's remotely believable? I know how to explain their abilities, and I suppose that co uld be used to explain their personas as well.

The Weather Wizard
Captain Cold
Mirror Master
Captain Boomerang
The Trickster
The Pied Piper
The Top

Why would people like this exist, especially in a town that has its own superhero?

They'd almost have to be a group from the start, banding together to take on The Flash, bonding, becoming brothers in crime, etc. And they'd literally have to come out of nowhere, because explaining some of these characters would just be silly.

I'm thinking The Top could essentially be a cameo, one of the first rogues to fall, with The Pied Piper sort of working "behind the scenes", The Trickster mostly causing diversions, and Cold, Boomerang, Wizard and Mirror Master being the main team.

Again, that's something that could easily be taken care of if there's a veil of history and backstory surrounding the movie's storry... i.e. if Barry Allen is a pre-established hero, and the story is about Wally taking up the mantle, then it makes sense for there to be some pre-established rogues in this world as well.

The characters:

Barry Allen/The Flash.
Iris West.
Wally West.
Prof. Ira West.
Patty Spivot.
Captain Richard Frye.
Albert Desmond/Mr. Element.

As far as villians go, I'd like to see a combination of The Rival and Hunter Zolomon into one Reverse-Flash.

In my fan-fic, it is this Hunter Zolomon/Rival combination that kills Barry Allen. Barry was unable to save Zolomon's mother from being murdered by his father, and Hunter made it his life's work to murder The Flash and take his place as the "true" speed bearing hero of the world. Like the original Rival/Reverse Flash, this version would discover the hard water formula to tap into the speed force, and through his work as a FBI profiler would discover The Flash was Barry Allen, and then would proceed to ambush and murder Allen. It would then be up to Wally West to stop this reverse Flash.

Flash
I would start with Barry arriving at some abondoned location where Doctor Alchemy is trying to build something. Barry beats Doctor Alchemy easily, but the real problem is what Alchemy created. Alchemy made some huge robotic thing which proves to be a much larger problem to Barry. Barry fights valiantly and gets in alot of hits but the robot is just too big. The robot aims it's large cannon towards Keystone City ready to fire. Barry runs into the cannon so fast destroying it along wit himself. Doctor Alchemy escapes.
The rest of the film is Wally trying to find Alchemy, while dealing with the death of his father figure, mentor, and friend.

Flash II
After Wally wins the lottery at end of the last film, he starts to neglect Linda; but he's still successful as the Flash. After getting injured in a robbery, Hunter Zolomon (who knows Flash's identity) begs him to use the Cosmic Treadmill in the Flash Museum to go back and prevent him from being paralyzed. Wally refuses and angers Hunter. Sneaking into the museum Hunter tries to use the treadmill but only ends up giving him "superspeed" (everyone around him goes slower). He then sets out to make Wally a better hero, by causing a great tragedy in his life.

Flash III
After the events of the last film Wally must fight 3 recently escaped convicts who escaped from Iron Heights. Captain Cold, Captain Boomerang, and Mirror Master

No single villain in the rogue gallery was good enough to kill Barry directly so I decided to use a villain who created the thing that Barry sacrifices himself for

I definetly wouldn't like to see Barry dying in the beginning of the movie. :down

Yea i still say for me i rather start with barry, have a small role/cameo of wally and then move on from there.

They'll probably use Barry, but they'll write him with more of Wally's personality. Hollywood would want a wittier, more wise cracking version for better mass appeal.

if they were to do that they might has well just do what jl/jlu and combined barry and wally together. Though i rather have two separate characters and each character stay at their character's ways.

I'd rather they did, too. I just know that Hollywood has a preferance for more "sarcastic'' characters cuz they think it'll reach across a broader audience.

on a side note:
Scott Glenn as Jay

Some...huge...robot thing?

And yes, Barry can be very witty.

Some...huge...robot thing?
Yep. Would you rather have some villain like Captain Cold or Mirror Master who Barry sacrifices himself for (if Barry was to die in the film)
I would have Dr. Alchemy make the robot look like Anti Monitor (i know hes not really a robot)

I mean besides Reverse Flash is their any believable villain who could kill Barry all by himself?
