Two people so far saying that Cincinnati isn't so...great. I mean, that's probably why you never, ever see a movie being shot there. :p
Make that three. Cincinnati is a horrible, horrible place.

Of course, I'd be thrilled to bits if a big budget production had the balls to film here, but my advice is to stay clear.

It's really that bad?

It's not that bad. I've lived here my whole life, but the city just wouldn't be that good for a big budget superhero movie.
The city is really dangerous too, I've been mugged twice.

^ I've been mugged 3 times. Plus the actual "city" part, which is downtown isn't that big honestly. I could walk from one end to the other within an hour and half.

That's saddening. How does one guage the 'danger' in Cincinnati?

My definition of a dangerous city is when the territory lines are blurred, and you can be in danger no matter in what area you're in. Even if you're the downtown area or the friggin' zoo, minding your own business.

But in big cities like LA or New York, I know what area is bad and stay out of. So I'm not gonna stroll into Compton or parts of East LA at the dead of night unless I was looking for trouble.

Most dangerous part of Central City was the park according to Tom Katers.

^ It's a dangerous city. There's really no area that the ghetto hasn't at least somewhat spread to, unless you're in a suburb which is considered a "part of Cincinnati"... but they're all like 45 minutes away (where the Kings Island Theme Park is basically).

I got mugged once, and assaulted once. The mugging annoyed me especially, since I literally had no money on me. The guy walked away with my driver's license and my Blockbuster card.

I live in Western Hills, which is nestled between Cheviot and Price Hill, and about fifteen minutes from downtown. It's a decent enough neighborhood all things considered, but we get our fair share of vandalism. My car has been broken into on three separate occassions, the radio stolen each time.

I've had enough crimes committed against me in this city to form an opinion of it. It's a ****hole.

haha... so no Cincinnati then! It's hard for me to judge a city that I've never been to, but I think it's also a social taboo (or an unspoken thing) that most people from that town can acknowledge. Out in the open or private.

After doing some research, it just seems like some of these mid-western towns are in danger of being lost to crime. Except for Chicago. Is that the consensus or an unfair generalization?

James Roday (Psych) as Wally, directed by Justin Lin (Community, Fast & Furious) would be ideal.

James Roday would be an awesome Ted Kord if Ryan McPartlin was Booster Gold

Scott Porter, please.

I was born in Zanesville, Ohio and have spent alot of time in Cincinnati throughout my life. We had season tickets to the Bengals(lol), alot of Reds games, it's like my father's dream city to live in so lots of exploration my sister goes to school at the University of Cincinnati. It breaks my heart to say this, because I like the city personally, but inside the actual city limits of Cincy is a ghetto dump. The only nice part if the college campus, and when you go down that hill away from campus it's quite the dramatic departure. It's not the toilet that Cleveland is, but it's not good either. Pittsburgh, on the other hand, is a beautiful city as far as cities of that size go. Which I suppose is why alot of movies are set and or shot in Pittsburgh.

I still say Toronto would be the perfect place to use for Central City. Plus I think it be cheaper for the studio and producers as well.

Toronto is nice, but it's not Central City in the least. As described in the comics and novels, it's a city in the middle of the plains seemingly made for them and matching their power. Wally's reflections on Central City when running outside the city reveling in the flat openness seemingly tailored for the speedsters powers is almost a religious experience for him.

As far as the a Flash movie goes, my opinions haven't changed at all. Do a passing of the torch movie with the mantle going from Barry Allen to Wally West. Make it a combination of multiple Flash stories, but at the same time it's own individual tale. Barry Allen is The Flash at the beginning of the film while Wally is a superpowered bystander. Barry is murdered by the reverse Flash, in my mind a combination of The Rival and Hunter Zoloman. This Reverse Flash then takes up the mantle of The Flash himself and while a hero in his own mind, as most great villians do, but generally terrorizes Keystone City with murder and ruthless behavior that tarnishes the Flash Legacy. In order to stop the evil reverse Flash, a broken down Jay Garrick trains goofball loser Wally West to become to take up the mantle of The Flash, defeat Zolomon, and restore the Flash Legacy.

I'd work in several parts of The Flash comics stories to create my interpretation. Jay Garrick would have been the first Flash, but worked in secret and was viewed more so a myth than anything, and he would have tapped into the speed force through heavy water fumes, ala the comics. In my Flash story, there would be several methods to tap into the speed force. The heavy water fumes would have a long term decaying effect on the human body, hence Garrick being broken down and unable to continue as the fulltime Flash. Barry Allen would have acquired the speed abilities through the chemicals being struck by lightning, per usual, same with with Wally West. In fact, Wally West being empowered through the speed force and lightning struck chemicals would be inter-mixed with a break down of Flash Legacy as the opening credits. You would learn that after Barry gained the powers he took up The Flash name as a tribute to the myth, in which Jay then sought Barry out to help as well as he could.

Zolomon/Reverse Flash/Zoom would also gain his powers through heavy water fumes and murder Barry Allen, but not revealing that Barry Allen was The Flash to the masses. So therefor, no one would know that the man beneath The Flash mask had died and then Zolomon could do as he pleased under the guise of The Flash. I'd keep alot of Zolomon's background from the comics intact but make the necessary changes to fit the story. Still a criminal profiler, still had a serial killer for a father, still ended up getting his girlfriends father murdered through a case he was working on, friends with Barry Allen through there work in law enforcement, and still ends up crippled as the result of an attack from Flash villian with Barry unable to save him. This would be were Zolomon mental state is broken and he goes crazy and believes he could do a better job as The Flash with more tyrannical methods, discovering the formula that gave Jay his powers, also restoring his ability to walk. He would continue to play the part of a cripple in his daily life, and shadow The Flash, discovering his identity is Barry Allen and murdering him at the proper moment. My casting choice for Zolomon/Reverse/Flash/Zoom is Michael C. Hall, and while posing as The Flash he would wear the yellow based costume.

My idea for a movie would go over two hours. Obviously, the time would be needed.

My choice to bring this idea to life, or any Flash movie, is the screenwriting team of Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse. I'd even be fine with Lost's most regular director, Jack Bender, being the director. Taking a chance on a television director will likely never happen and would be a huge risk, but I'd take it personally. Whats funny is that while Hall is my Zolomon choice, Peter Krause is my choice for Barry Allen and I'm not backing down on either. I'm sure the two would love working together again anyway after years apart from Six Feet Under. Michael Biehn is my Jay Garrick choice, Moira Kelly is Iris Allen, Amy Acker is Tina McGee(use her before Linda Park as a love interest), and Liza Lapira is my new choice for Linda Park. Wally is the character I have the hardest time casting because there are so many elements an actor needs to fulfill what I believe Wally should be. Michael Rosenbaum would be my choice if he wasn't too old, and Joshua Jackson is another that at this point is probably too old. Ryan Reynolds is Green Lantern. And I can't get fully behind anyone else.

This is a very, very vague piece of infomation. It may not mean anything but it sounds like Ryan Gosling is open to do a 'superhero' franchise, if he gets to do it with director Nicolas Winding Refn, who is known for Tom Hardy's 'Bronsen' and the upcoming 'Driver' with Gosling in the title role.

What is interesting is that, Gosling mentioned he wouldn't mind doing a superhero film but he'll have to think about it after a long pause. (LONG PAUSe) Right now, he's thinking about working with Refn again on a top secret project that might fall into the pop culture/fanboy crowd. Maybe The Flash...slip of the tongue? hmm?

EXCLUSIVE: We recently sat down and talked with Ryan Gosling about Derek Cianfrance‘s very-excellent and now R-Rated relationship drama “Blue Valentine,” and yes, of course our conversation veered off into other topics chiefly Gosling’s upcoming collaboration with Danish filmmaker Nicolas Winding Refn on the action drama, “Drive,” co-starring Carey Mulligan. A big fan of the director’s gnarly, twisted and previous works like the prison drama, “Bronson,” or the near-psychedelic, meditative Viking actioner,”Valhalla Rising,” Gosling told us himself that he had handpicked Refn to direct “Drive.”

“It was just so exciting to see somebody do what they were actually talking about,” Gosling said of Refn’s walk-it-like-he-talks-it-method. “Sometimes you talk about movies in this really idealistic way, like ‘Wouldn’t it be great if it was like this, or like that?’ To be on set and actually see that happening was wonderful.”

Rumored to have been sought for the lead in “Green Lantern,” Gosling has mentioned in past interviews that he’s been rather reticent to take on a superhero or franchise role, but he did start singing a fairly different tune in our interview. Or at least he’d consider it with the right filmmaker.

“I mean, I’m not actively looking for [a franchise],” Gosling qualified, “It would be like, ‘Who’s directing it, what’s the story?’ Gosling acknowledged that he and Refn had talked about the filmmaker’s obsession with bringing “Wonder Woman” to the screen (“He’s talked to me about Wonder Woman. They should totally let him do it.”). The conversation then again turned to superheroes and Refn.

“If Nicolas wanted to do ‘The Flash’... ” he paused for a second to reflect. “I don’t know. I’d probably have to think about it.”

“We’re actually talking about doing something a type [of franchise],” he said. “I can’t tell you what it is, but it’s [known], it’s a part of pop culture. I’d be interested in trying it with someone like him.”

Pretty vague. Any guesses? “Blue Valentine” hits theaters in limited release on December 31. We’ll have more from this interview, plus conversations with Michelle Williams and Derek Cianfrance soon. And congrats on that R-rating.

Refn would make a good fit for Flash if they really are doing the more CSI approach.

they way they're reporting the "darker approach," it sounds like it's going to be more like the show dexter than csi, without flash murdering the villains...hopefully

that's exactly what i thought as well! sounds very interesting. hopefully this is the next film for DC/WB after once Green Lantern, Dark Knight Returns, and Superman are completed

it looks like it's happening. i think they're trying to release it before gl2, which could be in 2013 or sooner.
