Anyway i would like to see gambit and wolverine together again.like in the 90's gambit and wolverine were partners.

let me tell you this imange if there was no romy would there be gambit even.I remeber from an interview the gambit was created ONLY to be killed off but romy saved him so pay a little respect pleaae.

No way in hell is that true. And i'm glad it isn't. And yeah Wolverine and Gambit together is always awesome. I could go for a new mini.

Not true. Gambit was saved by his popularity. Period.

AGREED! I can't believe you would even consider thinking that Gambit was created simply to die!!! How shameful!

Ok, hopefully I'm on the right thread for an answer here...

What's the current status of the Theives Guild of New Orleans? In Legacy, we saw that the Assasins Guild were after Charles Xavier and then later on, when Charles recruits Gambit in New Orleans to find Rogue, a pair of assasins, sent by Belladonna, were waiting for Remy (I assume Belle's angry again at Remy for stopping the aforementioned assasination). Does this mean the Unified Guilds no longer exist and they have seperated back into the Theives and Assasins Guilds? Is Gambit still the head of the Theives Guild? I sort of lost track after the last Gambit limited series.

They really havedn't touched base on that at all, as if it's all been forgotten. I have no clue myself and I've been reading steadily along. If he's still the head of the Thieves Guild, he's not around there much. :(

The Thieves guild really hasn't come up since the Gambit limited series. Back in the day it'd get a mention every now and again in the mainstream X-Community, but since Gambit's fall from popularity (and the X-Line basically turning into an all Cyke/Emma network), it's gone into relative obscurity.

Don't take what happened as Legacy for much though... Carey has proved time and again that past continuity means nothing to him. He probably couldn't have told you a damn thing about the Guilds when he wrote that scene.

Any of you guys read Legacy 229? The Gambit bits were kinda messy and confusing to me... This ish had only two pages of any real interest to me, regarding Gambit. Here we see Gambit having a fit because Rogue went off and did something stupid -- like Remy could even stop her if he wanted to -- but because of his anger, the old "Horseman of Death" persona slips out.

My real beef here is that the art is so sucky, I can't tell for sure what is going on. Looks to me like Gambit had a hissy fit, Death pops out, and he charges a card -- but to what purpose? Does the charge burn off the anger? Does the card kill the vegitation it came in contact with and it frightened/pleased Remy? In the Legacy Annual, we saw Remy as Death, grab some guy's soul and trap it in one of the cards. Was this that same card? Did the card trap the life energy of the vegitation as it exploded it? Can't tell. Thing is, Cyclops watched Remy stomp off and yet never checks out the explosion that followed, which was sure to make some noise. Guess Ole One Eye didn't give a crap. Either way, this scene was cryptic enough to provide more questions than answers. Maybe you guys saw it more clearly than I did.....

Nah you about hit the nail on the head. The art is awful, and it doesn't explain a damn thing. It's basically "Gambit evil, ARGH!"

I'll bear with the storyline for a while, cause it's Gambit, but I have a strong feeling there won't be any payoff. Either they'll use this plotline to eventually write him out again, or just as another vehicle to show Rogue being amazing (you know, she'll save him, etc.).:csad:

I am so anti-Rogue right now. Maybe Cyke didn't go after Remy because he's just as disgusted with Remy being her lapdog as I am. :(

Eh, near as I can tell none of the active X-Characters even seem to care about Gambit's existence. Though that, again, is Mike Carey being Mike Carey. I mean, when Rogue, Gambit and Danger showed up during the Dark Avengers little invasion of San Fran, the scene went something like this (paraphrasing)...

*Cyke looks at Rogue (who's been MIA for months), Gambit (who's an on again off again traitor) and Danger (who tried to kill the X-Men last time she was around)*

"Interesting company you've got here, Rogue."

Very in depth analysis from the lifetime leader of the X-Men and a guy that's trying to stave off an invasion that's secretly being supported by his current sex puppet.

God, what happened to the X-Men?

thats it? I thought there was going to be more Gambit in Legacy

I'm curious, do they ever show Rogue whining about Gambit these days? I haven't read an X-men comic in about a year but whenever i see Gambit, he's always freaking out about how Rogue is danger or something.

Rogue doesnt even think of him. Gambit only comes into her thoughts and words when they are together, but they havent been since their arc in the Xavier portion of Legacy

It's true. If she mentions him at all or talks to him, it's always her telling him to back off when she's about to do something stupid. I thought he had always admired her brass anyhow and that he wouldn't normally be so protective or clingy about her. His main dialogue these days is him running after her or threatening anyone who he thinks might harm her. Lame.

What has happened to comics nowadays? :csad:

I can see why the Gambit bits were confusing. So is that how the issue ends? He turns into "Death" and blows something up? Talk about confusing. I'll admit, I'm a big Romy fan but he needs to stop being her lap dog and get out there and do something different!!

Hey guys!

Thanks squeeks for the answer (and everyone one else who pitched in) about the Theives Guild and the posting of the page from the latest Legacy issue (for someone who lives in a place who can't get it)

We need someone who likes Gambit to write Gambit! It seems like only Chris Claremont likes him these days (as he should-he created him!) while Carey sees the Cajun as the rival for his Rogue obsession! PLEASE BRING THE OLD REMY BACK!!!! It brings the irony of the quote from the old X Men TAS series: Rogue: "Gambit won't be your lapdog." Well, hon, he's yours now!

It's a pity the Theives Guild has been ignored-what a missed opportunity. It such an interesting concept-imagine if someone were to write a Gambit based comic with an AoA X-ternals like group of like-minded theives from the various guilds running around, inacting with various Marvel characters while doing capers for various allies (and possibly foes!) Sure beats the hell out of chasing around after Rogue, who doesn't seem to give a hoot about him these days.

It's not how the issue ends, but it's all we saw of Gambit, so no answered questions. :(

Fanfics are our friend, these days. :p I think I've grown to love my own version of Gambit way better than the vanillia version of the comics lately. :(

I think alot of writers don't really know what Gambit is like, his personality has been dialed down. They probably underestimate him as a character because of it.

While i agree with Gambit haters to an extent that he has a lot of "kewl" personality traits, it's the combination of those traits that make him so interesting. He's ruthless yet very gallant and friendly. He's arrogant and self loathing. He's a loner but very charismatic etc.

I like my heroes dark and he fits right in. No boy scouts for me. :D

Yeah me too. The only boy scout i absolutely love is Spider-Man.

Superman all the way.

Spider-Man gave up the boy scout title last year
. :o

No, no, no. Spider-Man died last year. RIP Real Spider-Man. What we're getting now is a leftover from the clone saga that didn't go all crumbly, it's gotta be... doesn't it? :csad:

From Legacy 230. It was one page only, but it was the only page worth reading in an otherwise boring tale :

LEGACY230GAMBITDEATH.jpg

It asks more questions than it answers. I am guessing Carey is trying to keep us non-ROMY people still interested. So for now yeah, he can keep stringing me along. :p
