I have the whole Legacy run so I know I have it. :p I just don't remember it well.

I think I should stop posting in this thread, ha! I have no idea what you're talking about. I haven't touched a new comic in.... well ages. I'm so behind on all things happening with Gambit. It's just so not fun to read him getting butchered again by the writers... :(

Oh well... we have nothing to talk about because Gambit is not really appearing in anything now...

Hard to mis out on stuff when he's barely been here. :waa:

Well Tom Brevoort did recently say :

Q. I was hoping for Gambit to be the man without fear not Tchalla, any chance of him popping up in the series?

A.No plans for it, but I think there's some more Gambit stuff coming up in and around the X-titles in the next few months.

So that's good news right?

But he did also say:

Q.T'challa, seriously T'challa, why not Gambit?

A.Because Gambit is dumb. There, I said it.

"Whaaat?" indeed! Lemme at him! Lemme at him!! I'm gonna kill him!!! (this Tom whatever his name is) ;)

What a d!ck! I am sticking to my theory to why writers hate Gambit so much: he reminds them of the bad boy in high school who got all the girls. Comic book geeks have a seething resentment for those types.

I didn't mind the artwork to much on the few bits I've seen of the one-shot, though I hated the way he drew some of the faces/facial expressions. Did love the panel with Gambit calmly walking across the X Men/vampire free for all to calmly smash a vampire in the face with his staff. Classic!

Bachalo has never had the best luck with Gambit, he tends to draw him a bit more scruffy and ugly than he should be. :p Still the one shot wasn't as bad as the time he drew Gambit for the Age of Apocalypse stuff. That was just horrid. :(

Holy crap!!! THAT'S GAMBIT?????? :wow: Was that the 10th anniversary thing, because I only remember Larroca (sigh!!!!!) doing Gambit and the X-Ternals. Well, the one shot was a bit of an improvement, but I have to say Bachalo doesn't do anyone any favors, including my gal Storm! They should have a law at Marvel where only Choi, Larroca and a select few others (Mann, maybe?) should draw X comics. God, I remember Kordey's Gambit in X Treme-that was horrible!!!!

EDIT: I just skimmed my AoA stuff and I can't find Bachalo anywhere. All I know is that when I got that snap I was told that it was Bachalo (which I know that it is cuz I know his crap anywhere) and that it came from AoA (which I now wonder if its even true). Now I have no clue where it came from exactly. I have a lot of snaps that are random and I don't know where they came from. :p

thats from the first issue of the new Age of Apocalypse, the 6 issue miniseries. I like most of the art in it, except Gambit and Wolverine. They both look like a bag of asses.

And the only reason I knew exactly where it was from was becuase I just finished rereading the whole AoA yesterday.

Thanks. :D

EDIT: You know why I couldn't find it? Because I was stoopid and put the series with my 2005 X-books (the year it came out) instead of with my AoA stuff where it belonged. :p

Gambit has always been one of my top 10 X-Men ever since the cartoon days, But he kind of really sucked in the new AoA, I mean he got killed by Cloak.

I haven't picked up a comic since.... Well, ages ago. It helps if you've been away for 9 months, but still. I just don't feel the need to read them. Maybe at some point I will. I'm just hoping, and I keep hoping for a movie with Gambit in it again, how unlikely it may seem at this point.... :(

I can't help but agree with you. The editors at Marvel were proberbly the small fat geek at school playing with toys whilst Gambit was getting busy behind the bike sheds. Joe Quaseda (can't spell his name) feels the exact same way on Gambit and he's like the head honcho, kinda. That's why Gambit's kinda screwed. I mean what kind of respose is " i don't like him because he's dumb", reeks of jealousy.

Eh. While I guess a few folks could feel this way, I think it's just an age thing right now.

The large majority of writers/story execs in charge of Marvel right now were young comic fans in the late 70s/majority of the 80s. And, not coincidentally, a lot of characters that were big in the 80s are making comebacks right now. Fans turned writers are writing the stories they always used to dream about when they were kids. I mean, Joe Q has unabashedly admitted that the Spider-Man revamp was because he wanted to see the Spidey that was around when he was a kid. Continuity, common sense and fan reaction be damned.

Those types see Gambit as part of the "90s were OMGZ bad" thing...

In a few years when more kids from the 90s start breaking into the biz, we'll see more Gambit.

I find that argument not totally sound. I grew up in the 70's and 80's ( I started reading X Men around 1981) and although I will always have a soft spot for the likes of Storm,Wolverine, Professor X, Nightcrawler and Firestar, that doesn't prohibit me from really liking newer characters, like Gambit, Deadpool, Kwannon-Ninja Psylocke, just to name a few! That's called maturity and recognising good stuff regardless of when it was written! I love Claremont's X Men, but it doesn't make me avoid other writers either, or hate the directions that the X Men have taken over the years (some of it has been good, some bad...)

And look at Deadpool-he came out around the same time Gambit did, and he friggin' everywhere these days!!!!!! This cannot be because the writers (many who have written other X books) only like 70's/80's characters! No, I'm sticking to my nerd envy theory!

Hey, if Gambit was so lame, he wouldn't be the number two, if not the number one, top pick for fanfics on the most popular sites. The fans have spoken and are still speaking. :D We write to get what we aren't getting in the books themselves.

Who's the no 1 pick for the fan fic thing BTW?

My campaigning seems to be working, he's no 1 at the moment in the poll!!!

Keep Voting!!!

If Gambit isn't number one ( and he just might be) then the number two no doubt is Wolverine. Thre's a reason why he's in so many comics, lol. Folks just love to write stories about him.

ah ok i've never really read any fanfic so i just assumed it was Rogue or Cyclops for some reason
