I aslo like the relationship between Storm and Gambit. I always saw Storm as Gambit's best friend who secretly has crush on him but won't act on it.

I think the original plan always was to tie Gambit and Storm together romantically... but then the Gambit/Rogue thing happened and was an enormous hit with fans. And lets face it, the early years of that pairing actually were really well written and enjoyable.

The rest, of course, is history.

Me too. And I honestly hope the last part stays that way. Gambit and Storm would be awkward as a couple (even if she weren't married now).

When Gambit first debuted it seemed that their may be some sort of love triangle between Gambit, Storm and Forge but obviously that didn't happen.

It may just be me but i always thought that Storm was too old for Gambit

I think that seems because Gambit sometimes still acts like a 16-old-boy, who's got his pants too tight. Storm is much more mature than Gambit. I actually think that Gambit is older....

Yeah i was mostly meaning by how they act, but i don't think it's ever been noted who was older but like most people i think their ages are:

Oldest: Storm, Beast, Bishop

Middle: Angel Cyclops, Jean

Young: Rogue, Iceman, Colossus etc

And Gambit fits somewhere between middle and young

Gambit, at least when he was first introduced, was very much a "hardened" and decidedly older character. Right around the O5's range, maybe even a little older.

He was slowly backed up a bit.

At the start of Adjevtivless (90s) Gambit was refered to as one of the "juniors" compared to Cyclops and Beast , and i always took that in reference to age.

Talking about Adjectiveless i just noticed that Gambit caught a bullet and threw it back at the bad guy and also blocked bullets with his staff, i wish he did things like that nowadays :csad:

I usually hate it when characters are aged or de-aged but with Gambit i think it was a good thing that he (in my mind) is protrayed as younger then Cyclops, Angel etc.

Like to this day i cannot believe that Emma Frost is younger then Cyclops because when she first was introduced she looked ancient.

Oh, I never said that it was noted who was older, but I always assumed that he was older. Storm may act older, but I think Gambit has seen enough in his life, even though was a 'junior', but that may have had something to do with the fact that he was 'new' to the X-Men. I don't think Storm and Gambit have much of an age diffence, I just always assume he was the older one.

Yeah i think untill it's noted how old each characters are etc i think their all just up for interpretation.

Theirs a thread were people try to work out the others people's ages at nauseum over at CBR

http://forums.comicbookresources.com/showthread.php?t=320658

After looking at that thread i think Gambit's proberbly slightly younger then Cyke but Storm is a couple years older. (IMO)

I always got the vibe that Storm was older too, myself. :)

Aha! But I always thought that was the surprise. Gambit acting like the way he does, and Storm acting like the big sister while in reality he's older (not by much). ;)

Yeah, Gambit's age seems to fluctuate according to the artist/writer. Claremont/Lee definitely had him looking and in some ways, acting older, making him come across as about the same as the O5, and comparable to Storm (late twenties to mid thirties). But subsequent writers and artists have portrayed him younger, around his mid to late twenties, and Bachalo makes him look like a 40+ alcoholic!

Personally, I always thought that Gambit and Storm were roughly the same age, but in the end, it doesn't really matter, does it?

I think it would be an interesting take if Gambit was retconned to be older then Storm though, i think Gambit has more life experience then Storm so he may seem older then Storm but in reality she's probs a couple years older,

Also does anyone know if Gambit was ever revealed to actually be the Witness?

Not really. They made things even more muddle by having Gambit reveal that he knew and had had past dealings with The Witness during the Gambit/Bishop mini series in the 90s.

They then later hinted again that Gambit might become the Witness (with most speculations assuming his kinetic energy powers vastly expanding and giving him the Witness' abilities)... but as Gambit lost popularity the storyline and the character died.

Look at the subtext. Gambit's a loner, and basically a sex addict. He can have practically any woman he wants, yet he only wants the woman he cannot touch. Back in the 90s, Gambit, and Rogue was a metaphor for trust issues, and a viably three-dimensional relationship.

It's no wonder Fraction, and other writers misuse him. They cannot empathize with that, because they simply don't 'get' women, or anything deeper than a topical plot device. They're still off imposing their idealistic "fantasy girlfriend" on readers, donning the "dominatrix-femme fatale-with-low-cut-cleavage-Lara Croft" cliché. Geeks.

Are you sure he's a sex addict?

And I think the fact that he cant touch Rogue makes it more intriging for him. Not so much that he wants the one he cannot touch

@ KulaJava: Very off-topic, but if I pronounce your forum name, the way it's supposed to, then you sound like a green sugar sweet with coconut scrapes. :D

Or they fall head over heels in love with these female characters and destroy every other character in their path... *cough* Carey *cough*...

Gambit is a sex addict? What in hell does that make Wolverine??????

I know loads of boys (and girls, for that matter) who have been around the block as much or more than Gambit. They maybe referred to as lucky, maybe even players, but sex addicts???? In that case, there are a lot of us around :cwink:

I think Gambit has been remarkably celebate on panel these last 5+ years. I mean, if I had a sort-of romantic interest who has shown so little interest in me, I wouldn't hesitate to make up for lost time or move to greener pastures (oh, wait...:woot:) If fact, I am a bit disappointed in Gambit. He should be having some fun while Rogue tries to make up her mind.

Yeah my bet is Gambits had one huge dry spell since he's met Rogue. (whilst she gets busy with the man who has the power of 1 million exlopding suns).

Also i don't know if you guys have seen the previews yet but (spoiler) it looks like Gambit is in the next issue of X-23
