I still personally like the costume and don't have a problem with it in the little sample pencils of the one-shot that we have. It doesn't strike me as particularly not fitting, but I suppose colors could change that. Doubt it.

I don't think his personality needs to go through a giant change. Or any change, really. There's no real reason the character should stop being a ladies' man, and no, just because writers write him as a one-dimensional tool isn't reason for changing the character. It's reason for changing the writer or the writer developing, but Marvel doesn't necessarily play by the rules there.

It's not a matter of getting rid of the thing that most writers tend to hang the character on. It's a matter of getting writers to notice the other aspects of the characters and use those traits - I'd say the ones that Neptune mentioned above - on equal footing.

So apparently Carey is likely going to be writing a mini with Rogue and Gambit after the crossover.

good news in the fact there's gonna be a mini but there's potential bad news if it ends up all mushy and stuff which we all know went oh so well happens again.

Rogue and Gambit should stay as far apart from one another as possible IMO.

I think they should just redefine Gambit as a complete villain now.

as i said earlier i think it would be an interesting story line if he had something going on with lady mastermind, while staying a villain with maybe some anti heroism left inside him.

All during Carey's run, everyone was talking about how being apart is going to do wonders for both o them, but now that Rogue's been repaired, they're all ready to jump back into Romy even though this "seperation" has done nothing like that for Gambit thus far( MIA for a year then still been wrapped up in Romy from the moment he returns)?

I'm SO damn glad I jumped ship from the Gambit-fandom right now.

No, they just need to off him and be done with it.

I get that some people are saddened by the fact that Gambit has been shown little in "Blinded by the Light" thus far, so let us not tread that path again or beat that dead horse s'more.

What I don't get is why people are pissed that Gambit was shown showing genuine concern for Rogue being hurt - which is, well, tame for a gunshot. But nonetheless. Given how much history that is, regardless of how crappy it's been portrayed or handled by past writers, it has to be there. It would be much, much, much worse if Gambit had just been shown going "Oh, ONLY a gunshot? Why didn't you shoot her three or four times? Knick her spine like Joker did to Batgirl! C'mon, Mystique, what're you thinking?"

I'm not saying we have to like Romy. By all means, hate it. Hate the possibility that Carey might restore them as a couple.

But the interaction has to be there. There has to be a settling or coming to terms or care or whatever else. If it wasn't, after all their history together, it'd be ridiculously bad storytelling. And it'd be horrendous character development.

Like Gambit clicking his heels together three times and deciding to become Death. And if we wanted continuously bad storytelling and character development, we could just have Milligan writing the title still.

It all has to be acknowledged for the characters to move anywhere.

Yall need to listen to this dude. He's making a lot of sense.

You know, I've always told myself that I make sense, but I always thought it was me talking to myself. Or voices talking to me. And Spoons tells me this occasionally, but not nearly enough, for he is at times an ingrate. Like the insane Deadpool to my Cable.

Thank you. :D

Come to think of it: You are pretty much the Deadpool of the SHH Comic board. And I mean that in the best possible way if thats at all possible.

Then you read what I wrote wrong! I am not the Deadpool. SPOONS is the Deadpool to my Cable.

I R CABEL. PLZ REDE RITE

Well that would make you wrong, then, wouldn't it?

Or right. You know, now that I think of it...

See, now I am unsure. Chimichanga?

Just don't talk about your Bea Arthur porn collection and we'll be fine.

Can, I really just don't understand what you're looking for.

I mean, Gambit's only been back for a couple of issues (and only gotten a few pages) and you're already jumping ship. I mean, they're not going to be able to magically repair the character. It's going to take time, and they're easing into it.

Yes, interaction with Rogue is NECESSARY. And yes, they will have to hash out the whole thing. I mean, they were in a relationship for years. Did you really expect Gambit to come back and say "Off the *****?"

I mean, at least let Messiah Complex play out a bit before you give up on a favorite character.

You and I agree on this! Not that I think we've regularly disagreed. In fact, I have no idea! But nonetheless, you get:

Were this a video game, that would undoubtedly mean you're getting life. But this is not a video game.

Something similar to Claremont/Lee era Gambit, but with less focus on the "mystery" and more on the human side of the character.

Six pages of card puns and promises of Romy angst in three issues aren't exactly good ways to start repairing a character that has fallen apart by becoming a shallow cliche and stuck in a stagnant romance. Especially when Carey is capable of redeeming a character in a single issue like he did with Rogue.

But for him to get absolutely NO characterization apart from that Rogue interaction is falling directly into the same trap he's been in for years. If he had been actually doing things and getting development independently of Rogue, I wouldn't have a problem with their interaction.

Did you really expect Gambit to come back and say "Off the *****?"

Well, I was kinda hoping.....
(j/k)

I feel like this is you reacting too quickly, though. Rogue's apparently going to be out of things for a bit... So Gambit will get the chance to stretch his legs a bit. The piece of preview art work from the Messiah Complex crossover definitely depicts him in the field with the Marauders.

I'm thinking that the writers will try to get the necessary Romy angst out of the way early on, so Gambit can do some damage in the crossover. But we've just got to wait and see, no?

Most likely scenario. Good thing, too.

From the One-Shot being released this October. Gambit and his Marauder buddies are slaughtering what appears to be a group of Reverend Stryker's followers. I really hope they give him a new costume after the crossover; he just looks stupid in his pink one in situations like this.

By the way, I get the feeling that when we add words to this picture Gambit will be admonishing his comrades for killing the wounded, or something to that effect.

I mean, they wrote him as not really wanting to kill Cable, so I think we'll see more of the same.

I'd like to see that. For him not to care would be out of character.

Yeah, I agree. And not only did he not want to kill Cable, I suspect that he was deliberately trying not to kill Cable. And then there's the little hint he gave Cable, so it's not like he'd give him the hint and then say "Well, hey, if Sunfire offs him, I guess we off him."

But then, I like the idea of Gambit being the "bluffer" and/or "manipulator," or whatever.
