I still personally like the costume and don't have a problem with it in the little sample pencils of the one-shot that we have. It doesn't strike me as particularly not fitting, but I suppose colors could change that. Doubt it.
I don't think his personality needs to go through a giant change. Or any change, really. There's no real reason the character should stop being a ladies' man, and no, just because writers write him as a one-dimensional tool isn't reason for changing the character. It's reason for changing the writer or the writer developing, but Marvel doesn't necessarily play by the rules there.
It's not a matter of getting rid of the thing that most writers tend to hang the character on. It's a matter of getting writers to notice the other aspects of the characters and use those traits - I'd say the ones that Neptune mentioned above - on equal footing.
