Duking it out with wolverine to see who gets to be in front.
Legacy is supposed to do a crossover with Wolverine Origins sometime in september. Think there's any chance Gambit will still be around in Legacy? Maybe carey could write some follow up to their fight in Messiah complex.

Gambit was written better than he has been in a while.... They got his voice right, he had a couple of good fights and all... I didn't think there was much to complain about.
Don't get me wrong, it wasn't as sweet as any of his solo runs.True. It just didn't have anything that really jumped out at me.
True. It just didn't have anything that really jumped out at me.
Liked the last issue. Thought it was good that the grunts got the drop on him a couple of times. Shows he's not infallible.
I hate it when people write the hero as invincible, like people do 90% of the time writing Wolverine. It makes him more interesting. Sure I want the cool, suave Gambit, but I want to feel like there's real danger too.

Blasphemy! A hero that doesn't have a contingency plan for every situation? A hero that doesn't always just claimed he "smelled" them coming? This is not acceptable!t:
Oh Wolverine. What they have done to you...
If you think that's bad. Then you don't want to read X-force. Logan's taking to self pity like it's an olympic sport and he's got a side-kick. A female emo self-harming version of himself we all know as X-23.
Just goes to show that it isn't always our very own swamp rat that gets screwed by the writers.
Let's wait until Gambit is appearing monthly before we start talking about how good he has it. We've got maybe two more issues until limbo.
I'm not saying that there's a master plan for Gambit and that he's getting some definite stories written for him. Just that there's a feel that Marvel are using Gambit here and there because they want to use him.
Despite his connections to Sinister they could have easily taken him out of the last X-event (and this one) or erased his role entirely. The story would still have went on without him and not been adversely affected. That's why I think they're consciously thinking about how to use him.
Plus there will probably be a big surge in Gambit appearances to coincide with the Wolverine movie.
If you look in the hardcover TPB of Messiah complex, the editor's notes show that they had planned for Gambit to make a comeback, that he was going to "go back to being interesting" and had him planned to be the one who took out mystique and saved the baby at the end.
Unfortunately, that was all scrapped and he was relegated to wallpaper while Mystique kills sinister via headlock.
