Did anyone pick up the Genext with Gambit in it? Was it any good? I didn't get to pick it up. :(
It comes out tomorrow but I did pre-order it. I was unable to resist temptation... :(

I picked up and read the GenNext #4 and it actually wasn't bad. Keep in mind that this is where I jumped in, I haven't read the whole thing, but I thought CC's dealing with Gambit here was more satisfactory than in Forever.

I dunno, 6 or 7 I guess, more towards the 7. It's no X-Factor or anything, but I wasn't confused or disappointed in how Gambit was presented. :)

I found he and "Ray" (stupid Claremont...) much more interesting than Oli, who's essentially just Claremont's little Summers project.

The best Gambit in years (personality wise):

True, they did do a pretty good job of nailing Gambit's character. He was much more like early-90s Gambit than I expected he'd be.

The voice work was awful, but that's forgiveable with good characterization. I hope he gets more appearances in Season 2. Gambit did play a pretty large role in the Age of Apocalypse (the inspiration for Season 2), so they have room to work him in.

As long as he doesn't become Death i'm all for it. I wanna see him interact with Storm.

I agree. His two appearences were wonderful. :D

You guys played Marvel ultimate alliance 2? Gambit's voice is awfull, again :csad:

That stinks. I've only seen still shots from the game, I've seen no cut scenes. :(

Haha! I haven't even played the games.

So, anything new in the comics with him? I haven't picked up a comic in forever.
All I know is he's off following Rogue around again and she can touch, but they
aren't really in a relationship now or something. Crazy stuff there.

They did a quick backstory on him in Legacy. He was up against some sort of telepthic guy who, upon reading Remy's lovely yet enigmatic brain, found the repair that Sinister had done to bring Remy back from being Death and triggered a change back. While Remy was Death for just a moment, he somehow vaporized the guy and absorbed what looked like his soul into a playing card which he then slipped back into the pack, like he had a collection of them. He changed back into Gambit unfazed by this as though he was aware the switching back and forth was possible. There is precedent for this, Archangel has been going back and forth for a short while now. This was the first time we saw Remy do it.

Yeah, Gambit's voice in MUA2 is awful, but he's a very fun character to play as. He's not really one of the more powerful heroes in the game (Those rights belong to Thor, Storm, Jean, and Ms. Marvel. My god, beasts, the lot of them.), but he's just fun to play. His 52 card pickup and radial staff attack make for good fun.

I love gambit i have been a big fan since i saw him in the X-Men animated series.Gambit forever.

I became a fan after reading his first ongoing. I've been hooked ever since. :D

I became a fan after reading X-men 1 penciled by Jim Lee. Gambit is bad ass in that issue. Back then, Claremont knew how to write Gambit.

Claremont is one of the few writers that can actually write a decent Gambit

He is capable of writing a decent Gambit but he hasn't done it in a long time.

To be fair, Claremont hasn't written a good anyone in years. I'd be surprised if he could even characterize himself in an autobiography at this point.

Yeah X0men Forever so far sucks fury an X-Man? Are you kidding me.

last time he had Gambit was back in X-treme and he did a good job with him there. After that series, Claremont went to UXM and lost Gambit to Austen/Milligan

X-Treme had its moments with Gambit, certainly, but kind of flamed out towards the end. The whole being dragged from the afterlife by Rogue after he got run through with a big a$$ sword was a :dry::doh::dry::huh: moment. When did that ever sound like a good idea?
